"Wait, what?" he asked looking towards her.

"Your aunt?" he asked her.

Ilias was silent for a moment.

"...do you not know who her aunt is?" he asked him.

Chris just shrugged in response.

"Maybe I do, but I'm not piecing it together." he said. "Maybe I learned it a while ago and forgot it." he offered.

"But I don't know how to respond to that statement." he continued.

"...though, are you serious about that work comment?" he then asked her.

"You're a dark elf with necromancy and time mana. Yes I'm serious." Kiah answered.

"Do you realise how useful your mana would be? Too many experiments have been lost because we ran out of time." She continued before pausing.

"We'd figure out a fair pay rate as well, of course." She told him, deciding to address all that before anything else.

"...oh, I see." Chris replied.

"Well... I mean... my necromancy's been downgraded because of my... uh... changes." he admitted.

"Though it DOES seem my time mana was unaffected by it." he went on.

"Though Vanessa DID seem to lock it down." he then said further.

"Looks like that was broken, though." he continued.

"But if you're serious, then thank you." he told her.

"...assuming I live to get work." he then sighed.

He was still confused about the 'aunt' comment, but wasn't sure if he wanted to press it or not. Finally, he decided to ask.

"Does your aunt... work here or something?" he inquired.

Kiah paused when he asked about her aunt before just laughing.

"Jenkins. I know of you and what you did to Madison, because Casey is shagging my cousin." She stated simply, putting it ... well, quite bluntly.

"Hi. I'm Kiah Fyrane." She continued before smirking.

"One of the only Fyranes that has the potential for pure mana, instead of the usual curse."

Chris was silent as he heard all this.

"Ah... hm." he mumbled.

"I see." he said.

"........." again, he was silent, but Ilias and Kiah could see the gears turning.

They could almost see and hear his thought process, too:

'Kiah Fyrane... oh right, sister is Kaia Fyrane... daughters of Demitra Fyrane... granddaughters of... Racquel Fyrane... and...' he continued, before it all pieced together for him.

This caused his eyes to widen, and he collapsed to his ass, a horrified expression on his face.

"Y-y-y-y-y-y-your aunt is..." he stammered, almost unable to finish the statement.

"There we go." was all Kiah said with a laugh.

She woke slowly, painfully. Every part of her hurt,and she was reasonably certian that every single atom of her being had been put through the ringer before being glued back together. Thankfully it just felt like her entire body was just heavily bruised, instead of broken or whatever.

However, she could feel her mana was still out of whack, though.

After fully waking, sitting up a bit and looking around, she saw Chris as he walked into the room again, having just left for a bite to eat.

"... hey." She greeted before he noticed she was awake.

"Barely. But I'm an elf." She answered.

"time away from a dark elfs influence will naturally weaken and eventually break the hold. Not so much when it's another dark elf, as far as I know. But wood and high elves? Yeah. By this point, it's barely there."

"At least there's that." he said.

"...." he was then silent, before looking away.

"....while you were out, I learned that there was a high chance that ritual would have killed you." he commented.

"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked.

"I could very well have been responsible for your death!" he almost-exclaimed.

"And it was better that I, as a fucking puppet, died than to let those that HAVE lives pay that price." She added before pausing, sighing.

"And I knew that if you'd known, you'd stop me from doing it, then we'd have to deal with that shadow being pissed and targetting me. I couldn't live under an angel forever."

"I'd call her 'Encrae', but I don't want to people to get mixed up and think I might be talking about her sister." he reasoned.

"And she she as HELL isn't my 'Mistress' any longer." he spat at the end.

"Freedom is a new concept for me."
