It's probably just a task that somebody at the company didn't want to have to do repeatedly, but that's their call. I'm assuming you've researched the process for your area. Is there a phone number you can call for more information? If not, you might try going to Lowe's or Home Depot or a Hardware store and asking if they know anything about the process.
I hope your fridge wasn't full of newly bought groceries at least...

I think I'm going to go for a walk soon -before the humidity goes up to insane levels- and then I've got some miscellaneous things to do around the house, and a couple crafty-type things to do... oh! And some online work to take care of as well...

@Totalanimefan: Not usually in the traditional sense, but sometimes when I feel ambitious and cook breakfast for the boys/family it kind of ends up being more like an English breakfast than an American one XD
