@Koah: Gotcha - that's what I was thinking you meant, but the phrase threw me somehow.
Yes! I should have just reached out to friends sooner (I'm so used to doing things independently - it works against me sometimes)... I have a different friend who's a biologist and probably has had everything growing in her yard since they bought that house...

I hope you get some stuff done today! Good luck!

@Wildfire: Ooo nice.

@MoodyB: to be fair, there are a lot of factors that could have influenced your liking or not liking the experience, but it's not for everyone.

How are you doing today?

@Wildfire: it was mostly the fact it was like a camp-like thing i went to
and...i hated every second of it. didn't have fun at all and just wanted to go home lol.

im okay, deciding if i should scrap or continue a study im working on
which came out terrible and making me have identity crisis with my art

@MoodyB: Ahh... so it was part of a bigger experience that you weren't enjoying. It makes sense that you wouldn't enjoy kayaking, then. I'm sorry.
LOL - it sounds like you need a break from your piece, regardless of your final decision concerning it

@Wildfire: yeah and am just not an outdoor person for that reason.
and often had gotten made fun of i was not "athletic" due to i have some breathing issues.

haha yeah. I might try a new approach for it. Like start with shapes instead of lineart.
but then i'm going to do a different study until i can return to that one.
but it made me realize i really need to do more studies even if it's just sketching lol so i at least got something out of it.

@Wildfire: I donated several bags to our local thrift and I'm so glad that's done. Now I've got a couple more errands to do after I get an online appointment done.
I'm glad you're seeking out your connections now. I have a prepper friend here, and I call her when I need advice on how to store or organize something.

@MoodyB: kids can be so very mean... :(
Starting with a different approach is usually useful. It's amazing what a change of perspective can do for a person! Good luck!
Studies are by their nature, quick. They are not finished pieces of art...

@Koah: Yeah. I just don't tend to think in terms of "group dynamics" for things like this for some reason... and there are times that I really should.
Oh - congrats on getting things organized enough to get a few bags of things out of your house and donated!!

@Wildfire: i tend to go over the top with studies so i try to make them into finished paintings since it can teach you a lot and im very lost at art lately lol

tho made me realize i really need to work on my drawing skills.
i may end up buying my second art book after all. maybe as a birthday gift lol

@MoodyB: There's nothing wrong with taking a study to the next step, but studies are supposed to be quick ... an opportunity to learn or try something... to refine one aspect of a bigger piece...
which book would you buy?

@Wildfire: I don't think their supposed to be quick. XD
at least not from what i learned doing art for a few years.
you just have to get something out of it. And i am by far no means..quick at all...
*takes months to finish a single piece*

It's another book from the collection i am slowly getting.
I'm planning to get the entire morpho set.
my dad bought me the hands and feet one so next month I'll buy the simplified shapes one
since it's something i struggle with.

@MoodyB: a study is supposed to be quick ... vs/ a full piece... but yeah, as long as you get something out of it, it's productive.
As long as the books help you, it's all good. :3 You have at least one from that series already, don't you? Are you enjoying it? Learning from it?

@Wildfire: i think it depends on skill level and study.
like gesture drawing is quick. but studies normally take at the least 1-5 hours but can be even 12-24 hours.
for me it just takes months since idk what im doing lol so i take extra long.

im planning to read it all first and then go back and take notes for a deeper understanding as it talks about bone and muscle strycture which i know nothing about. so i'll have to do a lot of research to understand it better.

@Wildfire: I filled up the trunk and back seat of my little car with donations. It was nuts. o3o But I'm glad it's off to find new homes.
I just wish I could figure out a good shelving system in my house, I have a lot of shelf-stuff and no place for it. :T
When I first started gardening, I reached out to family members, but they're so professional that they couldn't give me step-by-step instructions or anything.
I never reached out to them again. :|

@MoodyB: Whatever works for you. It sounds like you have a plan in place for the books and yes, understanding the underlying anatomy should help you with your figures, their postures, etc. Good luck.

@Koah: I need to do that too. The problem is that I'm starting with books - most of which are brand new and homeschool-oriented... not that I couldn't just donate them, but I'd like to sell them back in to the homeschool community where they'd probably be more appreciated than elsewhere.

I was just woken up from a sound sleep -for the first time all night- with a call that IDed from California. And since it was barely past 8am here , I doubt it was actually from California (given the time zones), but was instead from a stupid spam marketing type center (which I despise even when I'm not sound asleep). I currently do not have a good opinion of California, telemarketers, spammers, spoofers, and other people who call random phone numbers. I'm going to drink my coffee, avoid the news, and try to shake off the special kind of grumpy that only happens when woken suddenly from a sound sleep after not sleeping most of the night. Ugh.

How is everyone else's day going so far? XD

@Wildfire: I too dislike Cali. lol! Although, I do like northern california.

My morning is good so far. I got things to do today, I'll be focusing on that stuff first. I need to run to the post office. maybe paint today and do a dr appt later.

@Koah: lol <3 It sounds like you have a fairly busy day ahead of you. I hope everything goes well and you get everything done that you need to get done. Good luck at the doctor's too! :3

I'm about to run an errand or two on my way to meet up with a couple of the ladies who I kayak with. At least dinner is in the crockpot and a load of laundry is in the dryer. It hasn't been a horrible morning, despite the wake-up, but I'm getting tired (it's noon here) so I don't know how long this little adventure of mine is going to last, but I said I'd go, so I'm off to do that...

@Koah: It was a pretty good day, all in all.
How has your day turned out?

@MoodyB: Whatever you draw, it takes practice.
Definitely take advantage of that free shipping though! :3

I'm tired. It was a good day, but it was a long day and I'm just getting back now... with stuff to do, still...
