Cain had barely began to drive, before slamming on the breaks.

"Excuse me!?" he exclaimed.

"..." he then paused, before sighing, shaking his head.

"Right. You're just messing with me, I know that." he muttered.

"And I don't know. We'll see." he told her.

"Depends on the specific details." he added, as he started to drive again, and pulled out of the parking lot.

"I'm actually serious." She assured him.

"I'll need somewhere to hide a body." She said with a shrug.

"Well, I'll probably have to keep it a secret from Mom, as she may want to experiment on it." he told her.

"Bodies can smell, obviously." he went on.

"...not... sure if that's an issue at my place, admittedly." he then muttered.

"Long story short? The body will be a shell, but I can't hide it at my place. That won't go well - at all." She continued.

"So smell? Not an issue. You can literally just have her sit in your closet and just leave her."

"...I admit, this sounds like a grand scheme." he told her.

"And yes, scheme. It's clear you don't want your Dad finding out about this, and you for the idea from his overworked and stressed state." he said.

"But fine." he muttered.

"I'll clear space in one of my closets." he told her.

"...probably the one that isn't slightly shared. Completely mine." he reasoned.

"I just hope he accepts her when I finish." She continued with a sigh. "The last thing I want is all this hard work, effort, and materials to go to waste."

Cain's eyes widened for a moment.

"Woah!" he exclaimed.

"Woah, woah, woah." he said.

"What are you talking about?" he asked. "Work, effort, and materials?" he asked further.

"Are you talking about making a huge alchemical no-no?" he asked her.

"Because even ATTEMPTING to create a homunculus is.... no bueno in the alchemy and scientific community." he warned.

"You really think I have the alchemical knowledge, know-how, and ability to do something THAT drastic?" She asked.

"I'm charmed, but you know that my skillset isn't for alchemy."

Again, Cain was silent for a moment.

"Okay.... fair..." he admitted.

"You're smart, and even know how to do a little alchemy, but even the theory of a homunculus is advanced alchemical stuff." he muttered.

"But... okay, WHAT are you thinking here?" he asked.

"You're making a body?" he asked her before she saw the gears start to turn.

"...wait... wait, are you saying...?" he started to ask, but Lunet knew that the lights had come on without him finishing the question.

"That I'm going to make an android?" Lunet finished for him.

"That's exactly what I'm saying." She added.

"I've coded AI systems before, and I don't see why I couldn't take it one step farther for an android. Dad wants a central resource, so how about I make her capable of walking, talking, and doing more than just sitting in a room as a server?"

"Now I see why you need me to house the casing... whenever it's made." he told her.

"...but you're not really the hardware sort, are you?" he asked, but it was rhetorical.

"How will you...?" he started to ask, before the obvious solution came to mind.

"Assuming it's him... you think he'll be willing to help?"

Lunet just sighed.

"I'm most definitely hoping he is." She commented.

"But... we'll have to wait and see. I'll see if he's online when I get home. If he is, then I'll bug him. If not, I'll just email or text or something to get him to get ahold of me so that I can find out." She paused a moment, looking out the window as Cain drove.

"However, I'm not a failure when it comes to hardware... maybe I can put together something and just upgrade her bit by bit over time."

"...and quite frankly, I'm pretty sure he's the best there is." he then mumbled.

"He's made... so much, already." he went on.

"He's caused technology in general to grow by leaps and bounds." he said further.

"Or... well, he's laid the groundwork for that, anyway."

The rest of the drive was filled with idle chit-chat, and before Lunet knew it, Cain had pulled up to her house.

"All right, we're here." he said.

"I'd come in with you and stick around, but I got some stuff to get done at home." he told her.

"Decode some formulae for Mom." he continued.

"...she doesn't know I'm doing it, I want to try and surprise her." he then admitted.

"Of course." She said simply.

"Go do what you need to. I'll keep my mouth shut on that too." She added as she undid the seatbelt.

"I'll catch ya later./ She said, giving him a kiss.

"And I'll see you later." With that, she climbed out of the car.

Cain returned the kiss and waited for her to get to her front door. When she unlocked it and opened it, he honked the horn quickly, and waved to her when she looked. She waved back, and watched as he pulled out of the driveway and headed off.

She entered the house, shutting the door behind her... and was alone again.

It'd been more common in the past few weeks or so, and now she knew why.

Odds are her father had been stressing about this for a while, and was almost at his breaking point.

Lunet sighed as she looked around.

"The house is so empty..." she muttered as she kicked her shoes off, and made her way to the couch. She sat down, got comfy, and grabbed her tablet from her bag, which she set on the floor by her, before scrolling through her contacts in the messanging app to see if Leo was online or not.

When she saw his name, and that he was currently listening to music, she knew he was actually active.

Yo. You interested in collaborating on a big project? She sent. She hoped it would pique his interest, if nothing else.

Something that will be one hell of a test for both of our skillsets. she followed up with.
