So first of all, I'm sorry about my language, I'm just very very annoyed at this game and it's community.
Also, I'm sorry if it doesn't make sense, I'm not good with words.
I also didn't proof read this so I probably forgot to explain something but oh well.
I wouldn't usually talk shit about a game on a site based around essentially the same thing but GOD this game has really pissed me off.
I'm not gonna name it of course, but if you play it you'll probably recognise it.
Anyway, so the game initially launched in 2014ish with a focus on socialising, then it rebranded in 2015 and added a gacha. At first it was fine, I joined in 2016 and the most expensive item, a pair of black bunny ears, must've been about 40k at that time? (Now, they're around 300k, and they're not even the most expensive anymore).
Now, I have MANY issues with how expensive things get on this god forsaken game, but I'll get into that soon.
First I want to talk about the 'social aspect'.
So, the game revolves around buying and selling items won from events and gacha. There is little to no social aspec anymore. In 2016 they added a newsfeed, basically a way to post pictures and stuff, and at first it had an explore tab. They got rid of that around 2020ish because of MANY issues with grooming, bulling, etc, and at first when I came back from a hiatus and noticed it was gone I was sad, but after finding out why and seeing what happened literally this past event, I'm glad they got rid of it.
The community is greedy, toxic, and all around makes the game hard to play. An event ended today, and when I say I never want to event on that game again I MEAN it this time.
So, the event was a recolour event, and basically people entered a contest where they recoloured some past items made by the games designers, and if they won they would be made into items for two gachas and prizes in the event. Well, it sounds great at first, sure, but it was very much a huge mistake because what ended up happening was two events decided to make a 'justice for top 2 crews' hashtag, which makes sense because the game has millions of players but the top crew, usually 50 members, means 50 of the legendary item. Not to mention that the individual item has a top 15 meaning that the legendary item only has 15 made. This obviously makes the items very expensive, and for example a rifle was recoloured gold, and now it's fucking 500k.
Anyway, the two crews kind of fueded, which was bad enough, but after asking for support from everyone, they started calling people who didn't get as many tickets 'broke ass bitches' and stuff. Lovely. Plus, the crew in 2nd place upped their 'minimum ticket requirement' mid event and one member didn't hit that minimum, which was upped from 1 billion to 2 billion (for reference, I pulled in the grab and still only got like 20mil tickets), the member got 1bil tickets and yet was called broke and got bullied by crew members.
It caused a whole hashtag to be created and while the member did NOT tell the crew owner that she couldn't hit the new minimum until 24 hours before the event ended, raising the minimum mid event and and bullying members for not hitting it is gross.
1 billion tickets is hard as fuck to reach WITHOUT spending like, 300k gold on the event, which is hard to make because the more expensive items are almost always hard to get in the first place.
Now, obviously game currency is different in each game, and like, here, $30 gets you 3k ohms, right?
Well, in the game I'm talking about, $100 gets you 25k gold. There's a pack on the games website for $1k, and it gets you 300k.
People are spending $1k on virtual items in a game.
Regularly.
And people call others broke if they dont.
I don't care what people spend their money on. I've spent money on fucking PNG's of Belphie in Obey Me! before. I buy physical merch. I've bought fucking ohms before. (Granted, spending money on here is donating to the website, so it's going somewhere good.)
But people are making crews with the purpose of getting 1 billion tickets on events, something that you can only do if you spend 1000 real fucking dollars.
The community is fucking terrible and they're making it basically impossible to get items unless you are constantly selling items and spinning the gachas and eventing.
It's no longer a social game, it's an extortionate game of buy and sell and only the best survive. I now remember why I went on hiatus in the first place.
