"I will certainly enjoy watching that show." Averie admitted with a chuckle.

"Anyway, I'm headingh off." She said before inquiring as to whether or not he was good to go. After he'd said yes, they left in their own vehicles, with Illias driving a decent pace behind her.

She pulled into the parking lot that she was due to park in, and made her way inside, heading straight for her dek. At least she would have, had she not been called in by Charles for being 'late'. Chances were that he was going to claim she was supposed to be there earlier than she was... again.

When she stepped into the office, she could tell that Charles was not happy.

"Winchester." he greeted her bluntly.

"I expected you to be here a half-hour ago." he told her.

"Trying to get those days off?" he asked her.

"Because that'll get you some PERMANENT time off." he growled.

Averie just sighed.

"Actually, I have it written, signed, and dated, by you that I wasn't due in here til now." She stated as she just motioned to the schedule on the wall.

'It's a copy of that, from yesterday." She then said.

"Plus you need my initials for any changes to my schedule to prove that I saw it." She paused here before shrugging.

"And permanent time off? Ahh, but you forget I'm one of the most resourceful ones here, and I"m probably the best at catching the 'odd' cases."

If it hadn't been clear that his patience was being tested before, it was sure as hell clear NOW. He normally had a short fuse with her, but she could see that he was close to his boiling point right now. He was quivering a little, as his teeth gnashed back and forth, and he leveled a glare at her that would frighten most people.

"Don't push my buttons, Winchester." he snarled.

"You've been getting quite the attitude as of late. Just because you happened to get a few lucky breaks on some difficult cases." he said. "Don't think you're anything special." he told her further.

"You are on THIN ice right now." he went on.

"It doesn't matter what your case record is, if I let you go from this job, that stain is going to follow you for the rest of whatever career you can salvage." he threatened her, narrowing his eyes slightly, and staring right into hers.

"You have NOWHERE else to go, Winchester."

Averie didn’t say anything for a moment after Charles said all he did.

”Me? On thin ice?” She asked her voice barely being kept level.

”You’re the asshole that won’t respect my request, my requirement, for time off.” She didn’t step toward him, but she was still seeming to have a far larger, and more imposing a presence than he’d ever seen from her before, ”You’re the one that ignored my doctor’s recommendations, purely based on a notion of an idea you have.”

”I work seven days a week, every week, barring the one 3 day weekend I request every month.”

”You’re the one on thin ice. I could go above your head to your boss.” She grinned here.

”In fact, I do believe I will.”

Charles responded with shock at first, but immediately slammed his palms down on his desk and rose to his feet.

"That is IT!" he exclaimed.

"You've been nothing but trouble for a long time, Winchester! And, quite frankly, I'm sick of your superior attitude and self-entitlement for these days off you want to take at random willy-nilly times!" he continued.

"So it ends now! You're FIR-" he started to say, before they both heard a loud voice being cleared from behind them.

"I would suggest you not make any hasty decisions." Illias suggested as he stepped into the office.

"And who are YOU?" Charles asked impatiently.

"Illias Varela, Special Unit 3." Illias responded, showing his I.D.

That's when Averie noticed Charles clam up. Immediately.

"Hah. You want to fire me because I want to go over your head to the one that is in charge of you. I want to report how you are not treating me fairly." She started. "I"m sure he will have a field day with my report." She added with a laugh.

"Do have fun with that. " She added with a light laugh.

"I'm sure it'll be something that will be quite eventful." She then paused a moment before looking to Illias.

"And yes, he showed up on my doorstep earlier, seems I'm gone, whether you fire me or not."

"Excuse me?" Charles asked.

"On behalf of Agent Hal Sharp, and the officials of Special Unit 3, Officer Averie Winchester is to attend a job interview in San Diego to assess her capabilities and chemistry for a position for Special Unit 3, San Diego." Illias responded, putting down the proper paperwork.

"As such, she is to take mandatory time off to prepare for her interview, and any negative consequences regarding her position here that may happen to her will be immediately investigated by our internal affairs department." he went on.

Averie could tell that Charles was internally furious right now, but couldn't say or do anything.

"....and how long IS this time off?" he asked through clenched teeth.

"2 weeks." Illias replied.

"The paperwork is all there, filled out, and signed by Agent Sharp, himself. I assume there are no issues?" he then asked.

"Nngh." Charles grunted impotently.

Averie just smirked, but managed to keep her emotions mostly in check, granted tha twas for the best. She knew she couldn't risk anything at the moment, not with how it was literally hours away before she was losin' control.

"And with that, I do beleive it's time to take my leave." She said after a few seconds.

"Shall we, Illias?" She asked, a subtle smirk to her voice.

"Or is ther eanything else tha tneeds to be said or done before that?"

"There is nothing else." Illias responded.

"We shall be off." he told her.

"Winchester..." Charles growled. "You got lucky." he muttered.

"Luck has nothing to do with it." Illias quickly responded. "Her skills and dedication have caught the eye of the Unit, and as such, we wish to acquire her talent." he told him.

"Do not undermine the choices of the Unit." he finished, in a vaguely subtle threatening tone.

"ANYWAY." he then said loudly.

"Officer Winchester." he addressed Averie.

"We have things to discuss in relation to your upcoming interview." he told her.

Averie nodded.

"Of course." She said before looking to Charles.

"This is the luckiest day of my life. Means I don't have to deal with the likes of you. And yes, I am going over your head regarding the treatement of those below you. I know I'm not the only one who has received... less than stellar reception from you." She stated.

"So... be on the lookout for that, I suppose. I don't think your boss is going to be happy."

Charles looked like he was about to actually lunge at Averie, but he suddenly stopped when Illias glared at him.

"....Winchester, you will rue the day you decided to mess with me." he said to her.

"How very professional." Illias commented.

"Come on, let's go." he said to Averie, before stepping out of the room.

But as soon as he did, Charles opened one of his drawers... the one where he normally kept his firearm.

Averie heard the drawer open, but didn't pay it any heed. She also didn't speed out of there, wanting to give him the chance. Plus she couldn't move too fast. It was taking a conscious effort to move at a 'normal' pace for a person.

As she heard the gun fire, she managed to duck out of the way quick enough that she didn't get hit where he'd intended. Instead, it grazed her shoulder.

The next thing Charles knew, he had a very pissed, golden eeyed Averie pinning him to the wall by his throat, and seeming to be an inch from literally tearing his spine out of his body.

Before Averie could do anything, though, she felt Illias's hand on her good shoulder.

"Please don't." he said.

"You would be justified, but try and reign it in. Please." he told her.

"It will look better." he said further, before looking at Charles.

"And rest assured, this WILL be looked into." he said threateningly.

It was not hard to tell that it took everything that Averie had within her to release Charles, leaving him with bleeding holes where what would be nails on any other day had pierced his flesh slightly.

"You lucky bastard." She snarled, her voice notably rougher than normal before turning to face Illias.

"Let's leave before he makes a serious attempt on my life."

Charles fell to his knees, clutching at his throat, but he also seemed to be a little paralyzed as well... possibly with fear.

But Averie noticed something a little different about Illias's eyes.

They seemed a tad more reptilian for a moment... but they then seemed to turn back to normal as soon as she noticed this.

"Yes. Indeed." he replied.

"Let us be off." he told her, before they left.

"...and no, we don't need to discuss your interview right away." he whispered to her.

"Feel free to disappear and do what you need to do." he told her, slipping her a card.

"Call me when you feel... well... more like yourself."

Averie didn't say anything before they left. After they were outside, she sighed lightly.

"I'm heading to the Fyrane manor." She stated.

"It's where I tend to go when I need to split from people. It's the one place that I can actually lash out and not kill anyone." She added. It made sense though. Ash could definitely deal with lycan attacks, and stand pretty much toe to toe with them, easily. Lindsay was nigh impossible to kill and keep dead.

So it meant that it was the best place for her.

"If you need me, that is. Otherwise, I'll get ahold of you next week."

Averie didn't say anything more, but she did nod, before making her way to her car and in. She was gone rather quickly, as well.

A few days later, she called Illias. She had no diea where he'd been staying while there, either, but figured that he was somewhere at least. Worst case scanario, she'd likely be told to make her way to San Diego.

"Hey. You said to call once I was more level." She opened with after he'd answered his phone.

"So here's the expected phone call."

"I've been staying in a motel here, so we can still meet here in the city." he then assured her.
