"Thanks." She said before pausing a moment.

"Also, I am going to be fudging it up a bit." She then said before sighing.

"Dates, that is. Basically, I'm not going to leave it to say that it took me three days to get my shoulder looked at. I'll have records saying I went that day." She told him.

"Can you go with that?"

"That being said, you need to get that checked out." he told her.

"Do it ASAP." he said further.

"Just call me whenever you need me."

Averie nodded.

"And on tha tnote, I'm gonna bail and go do that." She then said before getting to her feet.

"Pretty sure we were gonna be splitting soon anyway." She added with a light laugh.

'I'll call you later after I get this ball rollin'." With that, she waved, bid him farewell, and left.

About an hour later, she was in the ER of the local hospital to get her shoulder checked, and was talking to someone who knew her.

"Is Rene in?" She asked after a moment. "Because he'd be optimal for this... granted, that could be because I'm biased toward things, but yeah. Is he?"

"He should be on a short break now, but if you need to see him, feel free to text him." they said.

"Or I can take you to his office." they offered.

"Bullet grazed my shoulder and it's gettin' an infection." Averie answered.

"So not something that has to be dealt with right now, but also shouldn't be left for too much longer." She added after a moment or two.

"I can text him. Find out if he can, or who he would recommend to deal with me." Averie then said with a light laugh.

"...I see." they said.

"You seem pretty nonplussed about it." they commented.

"But all right, feel free to text him." they told her.

"Yeahh.... tends to happen when you've as ridiculous a pain tolerance as I do." Averie commented with a light laugh.

"But thanks." She added. "I'm just gonan go sit down and do that." With that, she waved before heading over to where she could sit. Once seated, she pulled her phone out of her pocket and texted Rene.

Yo, you available to stitch up my shoulder? I need some date fudging as well. she sent simply and quickly.

There was silence for a moment, before she received a response.

My office. Now. it read.

I assume you remember how to get there. a second one said.

Averie knew what that meant. Rene had time.

And he was going to help her post-haste.

Averie smirked before getting to her feet. She was gonna get the help she could get, which was good.

She made her way off toward where Rne's office was before knocking on the door. Once she was beckoned to enter, she did so.

"Hey." She said, stepping in.

"There's more to this than just my shoulder, but it's a start, and it's all related." She said with a light sigh.

"But yes, bullet grazed my shoulder on Saturday. Pretty sure I've managed a frikken infection... after not tending to it for a few days. Oops."

Rene just pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Of course." he said.

"All right then." he muttered.

"How about you tell me ALL about it, while I take care of the inevitable infection, and fix your injury." he suggested, as he got up to gather what he'd need.

"I can guess the not tending to it has to do with the lunar cycle, as it was." he went on.

"But a bullet wound? How'd THAT happen?" he asked her further.

"Oh, I was in the office on Saturday, and Charles shot me." Averie stated plainly.

"I'd showed up, and he was insisting I was late, but I showed up with someone else to get me the weekend. Looks like I'm not gonna be working for him anymore. thankfully." She then said.

"But, since I don't have to worry about job security now, I'm going to bring the law down on his fucking head. He shot at me, attemtped to kill me I"m sure. I'm just fast enough that I dodged a fatal or serious wound."

"Right then. Let's get you patched up." he told her.

"Also, not working for him, and some job security?" he asked.

"Ahhh, Special Unit 3?" he then asked further.

"I'm glad that's going through." he told her.

Averie paused a moment.

"You... knew about that?" She asked.

"Yeah, It was Rowena's idea. Apparently she went and spoke to the head of the Unit about helping you out." he answered after a few seconds.

"Huh. All right then. I'll have to thank her if this actually does go through in the end. Still gotta go for an interview and whatnot." She then said.

"But at least there's a chance of it going well. Illias was saying that pretty much a shoe in if you got the interview."

"Yes, I did know about that." he replied.

"Lindsay and I didn't want to say anything because we were still focusing on any other way we could help, in case the Unit plan fell apart." he told her.

"But Rowena DID tell us that someone would probably be coming to assist you." he said further.

"Regardless, it seems things are finally looking up for you." he commented.

"Good."

"Seriously. Make it that the records show I was here on Saturday, after being shot, instead of today? And all good. I'm going over his fucking head." She sighed lightly.

"but that does mean that you may be drawn into it to verify things from a medical standpoint."

"Yeahhh it occurred to me that I should get it dealt with while I was at lunch with Illias." Averie commented before sighing.

"The heat from it is kinda nuts, too. So an infection is already know. At least I got it before it got worse?" She asked before shrugging.

"How bad is it now though? If it could hav ebeen nasty, I assume it isn't quite there yet."

"Well, if I were an ordinary doctor, you would be on one HELL of an antibiotic cocktail, and your arm would be unusable for a bit." Rene replied.

"But I am not." he said.

"As such, you'll feel some stiffness in your shoulder, but that will go away in a week or so." he went on.

"Your stitches will come out at about the same time as the stiffness goes away."

"Because that'd be good to know." She added with a light laugh.

"Beyond that, good to know that it's not too horrible." She paused a moment before hsrugging.

'I've got 2 weeks, week and a hal;f? of time off, so I'm not really worried about it for the moment, at least."
