Tbh now that we've got such intense restrictions (low carb means no flour, corn, rice, noodles, etc) I think ive tried more new things this year than ever in my life. I can make a mean pumpkin egg pastry, and fresh whipped cream is bae.

@Elithiya: I'm addicted to the videos on Facebook by Tastey

@Slytherclaw: I'd die with low carb. Potatoes, noodles, corn, and rice are life.

@Elithiya: I will admit to spending 30 minutes on the toilet just watching those videos. They are so addicting and they make everything look so easy!

Glad that food brought more people in, hehe. :3

I actually learned how to cook by watching videos (because I'm a very visual person and just text always confused me). I started with cakes and pies before I started making meals and what not. * u * Tastey is one of my favorite pages on Facebook, lol.

Hopefully I'll have time to add some links today. ♥

@AelloTyphoeus: haha, I always said the same thing when I heard about people going low carb, but I didn't have a choice. The surprising part is that it's actually not that bad! There is a huge community of people who have mastered low carb alternatives. Zoodles are great, low carb deserts are amazing (enlightened caramel oatmeal Ice cream is literally the best I've ever had), and I've honestly found that the only real change is that I need to use a fork more often, since you don't have the handle /filler carb like a bun on a burger. And as a trade off, I get to feel good while eating things like chicken wrapped in bacon and covered in cheddar, which is 100% an amazing recipe that the keto caveman has on his site.

@Slytherclaw: That sounds interesting. I should look into provably lowering my carb intake so I may need to look into some of those recipies. You should post links to them!

@Elithiya: Yeah it seems like every time I try to cut certain carbs out of my diet, I end up craving that exact thing for like a week. At that point, I cave and end up eating it til I'm sick.

@Elithiya: My mom is starting me on something that seems to be helping. It's not denying yourself anything, but it's limiting the bad stuff. Like I can still eat a potato when I feel like poop, but I stop at only 1 instead of like 3 or 4. I can still have pasta, but I don't go back for the 2nd or 3rd plate/bowl. It seems to help some because I'm not like 'OMG I want this cause I can't have it!'

Reducing portions is very important if you're already eating more than your necessary calorie intake. o: I need to cut out sugary sodas (partly because I drink too many, and partially because I'm a stone former), and I need to cook at home more than just throwing something frozen in the oven. (I'm super guilty of that.)

Since I don't have any health necessities, though, I still load up on those carbs like a mofo. Hmm...pasta.

But we crave things that we're not eating because our bodies want the nutrients from it. If you do a little research and find out what's healthier but also provides the same nutrients then you should stop craving whatever is bad in no time!

@slytherclaw: Do you have any recipes? o:

I do have quite a few! I'll link a few of my favorite recipe sites when I'm at my desktop. Most of what we do now is winging it though lol

@Elithiya: Yeah. It really does help. I've almost given up soda, I only like maybe once in a blue moon drink a dark soda, but it's been a bit harder to give up Ginger Ale and Sprite. It's the yummy fizzy flavor!

@Slytherclaw: YAY! I'm excited for the links!

@Elithiya: I understand that - I have struggled with an eating disorder as well. Learning to control myself was one of my biggest struggles, and I still have times where I feel physically uncomfortable when I deny myself something. But finding that control is very empowering. Good luck!

I need to learn to choose water over sodas. ;c I'm attempting to replace with sweet tea - which is only a little better - and hopefull I can do better from there.

@slytherclaw: * u * I can't wait.

I just drink diet soda. But then, I drink a lot of artifical sweeteners and have figured out which ones I can have and which ones make me pray to dark gods from a porcelain throne lol

http://cavemanketo.com/lazy-keto-chicken/ This is one of my favorite recipe sites. We used him a lot at first because he has a lot of meal plans! This one has sort of become our standard, but we spice it up a lot--chunk the chicken and fry it with extra spices, or bake it and slice it over greens, etc. Sometimes we'll chunk the bacon and chicken and then fry green beans in with them, top with cheese, etc.

http://cavemanketo.com/cucumber-sandwich/ - I really like cucumber, so this was a really good early alternate to sandwich bread.

That said, I mostly eat salads instead at this point--top raw spinach with ranch, olives, tomato, cheese, bacon, chicken or burger, etc etc etc. All the really yummy stuff you could put in a salad that tends to make it 'unhealthy' in most people's eyes is actually encouraged and delicious on a low carb diet lol

http://cavemanketo.com/portobello-pizza/ - I don't actually like mushrooms very much, but Brendan liked this.

I can't find a good recipe, but we made fried chicken one time that was /amazing/. Tenderize it and dip in egg wash then in a blend of ground up pork rinds, parm, and spices instead of breadcrumbs.

We eat a lot of guacamole, too, which is just avacado mashed with salt, lime, and garlic to taste. I don't hold with super fancy guacamole recipes--they always get too complicated, and this is delicious alone.

Zucchini can be cut into zoodles really easily and used as a vehicle for yummy sauces, or filler with a meal the way pasta or rice would be. Veggies in general steamed or roasted then covered in butter, salt, and garlic is common.

Ummm. Chicken breast, ranch, and buffalo sauce in a crockpot makes a mean shreadable buffalo chicken. Could hold off on the ranch if you want more spice. Mix with more buffalo, warm cream cheese, and shreaded cheddar in a oven safe pan and bake for a buffalo dip that's pretty great.

Bacon and eggs is a good standard meal, and 2 eggs and 2 strips of bacon is under 500 cal a meal.

http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/pumpkin_bake.html - this is one of my favorite keto desserts! We make it in the fall in muffin pans, then microwave or oven really fast when you want it, then top with a small pat of butter and/or fresh whipped cream.

Whipped cream, incidentally, is really easy to make. Pour heavy whipping cream in a bowl with a splash of spices you like (pumpkin spice, cinnamon, etc) and a sweetener, and use a blender until it thickens and then scoop out with a spoon. We make flavored whipped cream with our Torani sugar free syrups a lot! Cinnamon, caramel, coffee, chocolate, almond roca, etc flavored whipped cream really makes a difference in spicing up a dessert or coffee!

In general, we find new recipes here if you want to delve:

@Elithiya: Yeah I've tried sparkling waters, but they all taste a little funny. While I do still drink sprite and ginger ale, it takes me a full week or two to go through a 2 liter bottle.
