"You got it." they responded, before leaving.

"You think she'll keep in contact?" Darrel asked Jaden.

"No idea, to be honest." Jaden admitted.

Sure enough, she did. And it turned out that Abby and Darrel were big online friends. They kept in regular contact for some time after that, and he often looked forward to seeing her messages.

He then woke up in the morning from a good night's sleep, and checked his computer, seeing he had a new message.

"Oh, from Abby." he smiled, opening up the conversation window.

Hey! Look, long story short, I'mma be stuck downtown for a few hours later today. I was wondering if you wante do meet up for some grub or something. My treat! It was a simple message, and even without her saying it, if Darrel couldn't or didn'ty want to, he knew she'd be cool with that. She was merely offering the invite.

Darrel raised an eyebrow when he read that, before shrugging.

Sure thing! he sent back.

Where and when? he asked her, sending it, and then pausing.

By that, I mean where do you want to meet up, if it's different from where you want to eat. he then sent in a clarification.

With that, he paused for a moment, waiting for her to respond, seeing as he noticed her status was 'online'.

"Suppose I ought to grab a shower before I meet up." he mumbled, making a small timeline in his mind.

How about in a couple hours? Around 6? Abby asked in response.

That way I got time to do what I need to for not, and then we can grab a bite to eat before I do the last of what I need to do tonight. She added after a few seconds.

If that works, anyway. If not, we can go earlier.

"I'll... call her later." he then told himself.

"Time's fine, but... still don't know where..." he muttered.

"Maybe she's coming here or something." he added with a shrug.

Anything else before I get offline to get stuff done? he then sent.

"....that explains it." Darrel muttered.

Sure thing. he replied, before getting offline.

He then stepped away from his computer, and poked his head out of his bedroom.

"...Mom!?" he called out.

"You home!?" he asked.

He figured he needed to at least tell ONE of his parents where he'd be going. They'd raised him to do so, after all.

'It's pretty early, odds are she is.' he thought, stepping out fully into the hallway.

He didn't get an answer, but that wasn't anything too surprising. He made his way to where she usually was, finding her sitting by the bay window and reading a book, not that he could tell what it was. It was almost... odd... considering what he knew she was. The fact that she was bathed in the sunlight like that.

It seemed almost surreal.

"Hey Mom?" He asked, but it didn't et a response. Not surprising, he could see her headset off to the side. She couldn't hear him. After he'd approached and tapped her on the shoulder, she met his gaze.

"What's up?" She asked as she reached for the headset and slid it on.

"And sure. Just let me know when you're heading out, hey?" She asked.

"Because you're RIGHT in that sunbeam. Like you're Kitt or something." he chuckled.

"Protected by the glass." She stated simply.

"Jaden and I made sure that all the windows in this place were swapped out with ones that filter the sunlight, so as to ensure that we don't burn - and so that you don't eitehr." She told him.

"And I do appreciate you letting me know. But I do realise that if I cvouldn't find you, you do have a mobile you never have not on you."

"Happy about it? I ... I'm not entirely sure, but... I think I might be." She then said.

"It is nice to meet the child I gave up, to know that she's all right, that she's managed to make it this far in life so far."

"If anything, you're more important to me than she is anyway." She then said with a light sigh.

"I don't really know her, she's never really be a factor in my life, you have. There's just a much stronger emotional connection between you and I. Don't let her get you down, all right?"

"Abby had a rough start, and she's doing so well for herself." he went on. "So I want to do just as well as her, if not better." he added.

"She's my sister!" he said, before pausing.

"...that... felt odd to say..." he admitted quietly, before shaking his head.

"Besides, you KNOW Sammy and me are a thing." he then added.

"So... yeah!" he finished, in a bit of a huff now.
