My ex is back to scaring me again. Last night while I was at girl's night he clearly wanted/needed my attention and was being all 'I just wanna give up' stuff. He's not used to me not being available, and I think it's bothering him a little. The other night he kept hinting that he wanted to hang out with me.

I wouldn't give in, if, I were you. It sounds to me that he wants you, not because he likes you, but he feels he has to be in a relationship. Let him work on himself first.
That's what I think too, and he just needs to learn to like himself first.
