Are alot of schools like that or just the one you went to? Is this normal?
Eh I think my school system was on the extreme end. Because whenever I talk to other people about this, it just boggles people's minds. So it's probably not normal.
Lol I did date a guy though, that was also functionally illiterate and had me do his college homework for him. In his case though, it's because he out right hated to read. If he could avoid it he would.
But...reading is so essential. To me its like breathing I can't understand how you could hate breathing..
That's a common thing around here, hatin' on reading. Even my second dude hated reading too, if it didn't have pictures he wasn't interested. But at least he was willing to read manga.
I guess that's why Americans keep turning books into movies or else they will be lost forever.

That's true but its more common nowadays than it was. Not that I am complaining. When done right it can be amazing and a true homage to the book.
Like The Help. I love both book and movie, and believe them to be equals.

Dude read it. There's a really awesome part that only exists in the book. It's absolutely hilarious to read, but they cut it for the movie. I understand why they cut it, but everyone needs to read that part.
:3 I just really really like that part. We also get more from everyone's perspective and not just Skeeter.
