That just seems like a waste to me.

In the back is all the different kinds of breads, on the left is all the sweet pastries and on the right is all the savoury pastries. When my parents came over they tried to buy some sliced bread from the supermarket. I made them eat some of these breads instead. Honestly they are cheaper and taste much better.

Exactly! Why did they come here!? I suppose they just wanted an excuse to go on "working holiday" in a new country.

Do you have any bakeries nearby?

That would be a negative.

Eh the bakeries we used to have all didn't do very well. They'd go out of business in less than a year. :/

Were they not very good or do your people just not have a taste for them?

Damn they charge too much. Over here they are the cheapest snacks you can buy. We usually buy them when we go on long trips to snack on.

To be fair, America isn't doing too hot economically speaking. A lot of people are struggling to put any kind of food on the table.

They are also more expensive here. In the supermarket, you pay half the price of what you would pay in a bakery.

1 loaf of bread is 1 dollar from the bakery. The smaller pastries are around that too but vary abit. Never more than 2 dollars per piece though. I wonder why its so expensive where you guys live.

o.O bakery bread here is like 3-4 dollars, some times more. Hell just plain jane slice bread can go up in that range depending on the brand. Donuts can get pretty expensive. Cakes I've seen around 12-14 dollars or more. Yeah bakeries and pastries are expensive as balls.

A slice of cheesecake or chocolate cake is around 2-3 dollars and that's kinda expensive for us so we don't eat it often. But those sweetbreads like donuts, croissants and bread baked with nutella inside are cheaper.

Bread in the supermarket is 1€, while it's 2-2.50€ at the bakery.

We get the cheapest bread we can, which is about 1.98 or so. Every once and a while someone gives us fancy expensive breads though.
