"That's... well... hm." he mumbled, thinking about it.

"That's a very good question." he admitted. "I'm not sure how to explain it." he went on.

"I have immense power, but it's often restricted to situational use." he continued.

"...that's a real whopper of an inquiry there, sweetie."

". . . I ... I don't quite get it though." She then said before sighing.

"I wish I could know what life was like for you." She followed without even thinking it. The question... really was why she was asking this suddenly.

Hal paused for a moment when she said that.

"Ah..." he stammered.

"Why do you ask, sweetie?" he asked her.

As he asked that, he sent a text to Hollie.

I told Lunet I was a djinn, as she asked, and she just absently wished she could know what life was like for me. Should I do it? he sent her.

"Is there any reason you're pondering this?" he asked further.

'I have a little wiggle room with time, but not too much...' he then thought, waiting for a response from Hollie.

Lunet just sighed lightly.

". . . kids at school." She admitted after a few seconds. Hal had put her into school this year, and he hadn't heard anything good nor bad about it. But, seemed there was a problem.

"What do you mean?" Hal asked, his voice curious, and a bit concerned.

"They... keep saying that I gotta put myself in the shoes of someone who doesn't have everything handed to them, as I apparently do." She answered. "And... I just... kinda wanna know what it's like to not be me, the one useless kid in class." The staff was very accommodating for her and the fact that she was blind, but the students, not so much.

Eh, I don't see why not. Hollie responded with after a few seconds. Just... don't give her full access to the abilities and wahtnot. Have her as if she's bound or something.

Unless you honestly would prefer not to. Honestly, I can see a reasonable argument for both sides

"......................." Hal was silent for a moment, before quickly firing a text off to Hollie.

I think I will. Just wanted you to weigh in on this. he sent.

He then got closer to Lunet, and placed his hands on her shoulders.

"Sweetie, don't listen to the kids." he told her. "You're not useless, and you've never had anything handed to you. You've endured a lot to get where you are now." he said further.

"I know it's hard, but you need to ignore the assholes that inevitably populate schools." he went on.

"...but do you really wish that could know what it's like to be me, even if for a little while?" he then asked her.

Lunet paused a moment, seeming to have not realise what it was that she'd said.

"I..." She started, pausing again.

"Well... I admit I am curious..." She then admitted. "But... but I can understand why it wouldn't be such a good idea."

"But... but it'd be nice to experience a life that I can't live, if that makes sense? For a short period."

Hal just smiled softly.

"Well, then." he said.

He then took one of his hands off her shoulders.

"Granted." he told her, snapping his fingers.

At that point, Lunet suddenly felt a surge of power enter her, and she felt her very being start to become almost... strange and ethereal, but solid at the same time.

"Oh holy fucking shit" She stated bluntly, plainly, and with a degree of surprise.

"I... I really hadn't expected THAT." She admitted.

"Uhh... sorry about the language... I ... it was just the first to have the expressive nature? I guess? I dunno." She then paused a moment.

".... rules or limitations for this?" She asked. "I ... I don't want to cause problems."

Hal just sighed.

"I'll excuse the language. THIS TIME." he told her.

"As for limitations, you are bound by the rules of the djinn." he then said.

"No killing, no raising the dead, pretty much no messing with the natural order." he explained. "You're also considered to be a 'freed' djinn, but a much weaker one." he continued.

"I'd say you have about... 40% of the power an average freed djinn has." he continued.

"You won't be able to do whatever you wish with your mana, though you CAN choose to grant wishes." he then said. "And you'll know what wishes you can and cannot grant." he went on.

"Oh, and you'll be able to use your mana to teleport about." he added.

Lunet paused a moment before nodding.

". . . one last question." She started.

"I don't want this to be permanent, strictly because I don't think I could handle it forever." She continued before pausing for a moment, agian, "How long?"

"As in, how is this set up? As in, will it just automatically ... leave? I suppose? Or do I need to check in with you to be returned to ... normal, I guess? And if the second, how long is the longest, so I know not to overstep that, not that I really think I will."

"So you'll go back to being you when you've used all your power." he said, before pausing.

"Or until a week passes. Whichever comes first." he added.

"So be careful with your new abilities."

Lunet nodded before carefully getting to her feet and just giving Hal a hug. He could feel the gratitude and whatnot that was there.

"Thank you... so much." She then said with a soft smile.

A few days later, her and Cain were sitting at a nearby coffeeshop. He had a coffee, and she had a frapp.

"Thanks for this, Cain." She said with a smile.

"I know it was a random request." She then said before pausing a moment.

"But... but I thought you should be the first to properly know something."

"Dad ... gave me a taste of what he is." She told him honestly, not entirely sure what it was that he'd make of that.

"and I mean that literally. I haven't told anyone, been keeping it quiet, strictly because I don't know who I SHOULD tell this too." She then said.

"It's not something that will last forever or anything, but... but I got a taste of what he is."

Cain was silent for a moment, almost stunned.

"Ah..." he stammered.

"Wait a second." he muttered.

"A taste of WHAT he is?" he asked her. "I know your statement implies that he isn't human, and he made it so that YOU'RE not human..." he went on, trailing off a bit at the end, and thinking.

"...but I've never actually been outright told what he is." he admitted.

He then leaned in close, so they could whisper.

"Are you saying you have the capacity to... grant wishes now?" he asked her. He wasn't sure if Hal was a genie or a djinn, but he suspected one of them, and wasn't about to make any more assumptions on top of that.

"Limited amount and whatnot." The thirteen year old commented.

"It's... definitely..... different." She added after a moment or two.

"regardless, yeah. I... I can. For now."
