Are we able to ask everyone to empty their pockets/ bags/ anything that they may be able to hide the scepter in?

So the person who did it might still have the missing piece.

We really need to be careful who we choose... Calling a ruse may protect everyone since the Queen can't really punish herself, but it also might cause her to go in a frenzy and behead everyone...
But choosing a singular person will result in them being punished. And what if the one we choose did not commit the crime?

So far the Caterpillar (who is not here) and the Card Knight. I would make a bet the Queen might know something too.

Oh, the Caterpillar mentioned a curse while we were leaving after his chapter and now the Card Knight has brought it up...

I went through a lot of blood testing as kid, so I do have a strong aversion to needles also.

It was the Card Knight (the Card Knight said not to trust herself) who said it, not the Flower Hostess.

I was also wondering that too... Since she wouldn't have had the scepter she wouldn't have had a magical signature would she? So Spark would not have sensed it. And as Panda said, well she would have hid all evidence of her breaking her own precious scepter and would have blamed on the last person to have it.

So the Duchess has been mentioned now. And Spark saw the Cat while he was in a cell. Hrm...
