@IceyVampir: If you head to the main forum page there is a list of active topics, it's the topics that most recently have replies.
We aren't the most busy, but there are definitely people around.
They apparently aren't checking for introductions though... -pokes everyone-
I wonder if I could set up an art hangout where I have posts on the first page for "rent" like a consignment shop or a convention with artist booths. I wouldn't actually charge anything, but it could be fun for people who want just a little mini shop.
I love creepy and cute! Nightmare Before Christmas is wonderful. I also love Over The Garden Wall, tiny bit obsessed. I follow some "Gurokawa" artists (japenese for creepy+cute) and "pastel goth" artists on instagram and tiktok.
I've seen Melanie Martinez shirts and things around, and they seem totally my style. I don't know if I've actually listened to their music though. Maybe if a coworker played it at the store. I'm pretty firmly in rock/metal most of the time. I do sometimes like alternative though, so I might like it. What songs do you recommend?
We listen to Oliver Tree at work sometimes. We usually play energetic things because work is slowly killing us and we need music that keeps us going. XD
I don't know Ace Vane, but if it's not rock or metal I probably don't know it. >.<
Is T-Pain still a thing? He was around in the early 2000s. Good for him.
I've been talking with my coworkers about d&d so much the last week or 2. One of them started a campaign a few months ago, and the rest of us are desperate to play as well, so we make him tell us everything that is happening. I am living my life through his character lately.
I've been playing Stardew lately, it's one of the games I stream. Sadly that means I have to be in the mood to stream in order to play it. But otherwise, I'll hyper fixate on it and then get bored. I did that with Palia. I played it too intensely for like the first 2 months and now I'm over it. I'll go back eventually... XD

Hey! Welcome to Voltra!!
The rule for images is "Images used on post styles must not exceed 300px in height. They must not exceed 200px in height for signatures. For all other images, the forums will auto resize them to the set limit of 906px width and 1080px height, and they are allowed as long as they are not constant, or stacked together in a single post. If you have various large images in a single posts, make use of the BBCode for Spoilers and hide them from the regular view."
People do some pretty cool post art, so as long as you don't have really big images, you can pretty much go wild.
All the rules are here if you want to look it over: https://www.voltra.us/forum/view_topic/442
I've been on and off Gaia for like 20 years. >.<
I have an art shop there, but was thinking I wanted to make one for here because I like the avatars better. Wasn't sure anyone would be interested though.
Maybe an art hangout thread and I can just do freebies and chat. :3
What other kinds of things are you into?
Books? Tv? Movies? Music?

Hello everyone!
I totally understand feeling more comfortable with an avatar, verse when you first join and you're all blank. This was the first forum I joined when it first opened, so I was naked with everyone else, which made it more comfortable. When we first opened you had a shadow body if you didn't pick a body, now you can be invisible if you want which is nice. This is my first avatar:
But I liked being a shadow person so much I kept doing it for months! I bought art of it too! I was such an adorable little shadow :3
I joined my first forum in jr. high, so probably around 2000. My friend started her own role-play forum, and our friend group all joined to do it with her. That was the first time I leaned what a forum even was. From there I discovered avatar forums, and I've been on them ever since. Though I sometimes leave for a year... >.<
A song you really like or that you've been listening to lately: What I listen to changes wildly depending on my mood. However I was recently watching a show on netflix (Miss Night and Day) and the theme song is one that was in a short animated series that blew up online like 10 years ago. The animated series is "There She Is" and it's Korean, but there isn't actually any words, it's all music and visuals. It's actually such a fun and touching story. https://youtu.be/3quYcNI3dOs?si=LtcJGUkEPs40R975

@toe: Both my parents have partial dentures already, which means my teeth dna isn't great and I should be taking extra good care of them. But i have depression and lack motivation to take care of myself. >.<
Thank you! I've always loved jesters so I do jester avatars pretty often. And I love a creepy/cute combo. ^^
You look cool! I love a bright colored avatar!

@Alchemists Fire: Sorry, I should have said fingerless gloves. They had like a ring around the middle finger, then sort of like a triangle over the hand into a bracelet, all of chainmail. At least from what I can remember. I thought it looked very cool. And the purse was fabric but covered in chainmail. I imagine being fully chainmail without fabric might be potentially annoying, like your keys might get tangled if you put them in a chainmail bag. I think I saw them at the mall I work at, so there maybe is a chainmail enthusiast that lives near by. We get a lot of interesting people here. ^^
I do think cosplay should be about having a good time, so I don't want to say that you can't or should buy a cosplay, or make it however is most comfortable for you. But when someone goes above and beyond to make something really cool, it's truly amazing to see!! Chainmail and other armors are one of those things that's just so cool to look at! You can tell when time and effort have gone into a cosplay!
The anime convention I go to had someone who made a suit of armor from monster energy cans, with chainmail made from the pop tabs. And it was actually clearly well crafted. And then the next year there was a whole army of people in drink and snack armor, like a doritos and stuff. They weren't all great quality, but it was fun to see that a whole trend had started. XD
There's a whole world a weaving patterns! I've only done one so far because they're intimidating. Bu think it might actually not be that hard?
They look like this, which is a lot to take in. But I'm pretty sure the top row of colors indicates how to thread the loom colors. And the side is the color order you'll weave through. Then I think the dots along the top and side are the weaving pattern? This is the one I tried so it's just a normal under 1, over 1 weave. But there are more complicated ones. So like, this one would be under 2, over 2 weave... But I haven't tested it yet.
There is some truly beautiful pixel art out there, and I would love to cross stitch it all! We could cross stitch our avatars if we wanted. Might want to reduce the size and colors a little, but it's totally possible!
I really love looking at the pixel art people make. I wonder if it's stealing someone art if you cross stitch something they made? I mean it is.. but if I'm just doing it for myself..? >.<
But coloring books are meant to be colored in! I definitely had trouble when I first started coloring in coloring books and I would make a mistake. I wanted to get whiteout or something and make it perfect. But it's supposed to be a de-stressing activity, so I just have to remind myself that's it's only for me and doesn't need to be perfect. It helps that I have like 50 books now, so they feel less valuable. XD

@Ruby: I have to pace myself with crocheting. I have a joint thing, so my hands and wrist can really start to hurt if I do too much crochet. I have compression gloves and a wrist thing... and that helps a lot.
I like the look of granny squares, but my favorite are the ones where it's a different color each row, but I hate changing colors. So I got a quick color changing yarn and it's more random colored granny squares. It's a lot less stress and work than changing the colors myself.
Hats seem like a fun thing to make. I don't personally wear hats though. XD
Thank you very much! I do mandala doodles at work when it's slow and there is nothing to do. SO I ended up putting them on the computer and cleaning up all the lines. I figured if I had the drawings done already, might as well do something with them. It's was a lot of fun! And I printed out all my first drafts and colored them to find mistakes and things I wanted to change. :3
@Alchemists Fire: Chainmail looks really cool! I've seen people with chainmail gloves, or a purse. And I've seen some amazing cosplays online that have chainmail. It's really an amazing skill.
I hate changing color on my mini looms! I literally have a finished piece hanging on my wall with the yarn ends just sticking out the sides because I never wove them back into it. And I never know what to do with the extra at the top, so I always just superglue it down and figure it's hidden on the back. XD
My favorite game when I was little, was Little Nemo and I want to do a cross stitch of Nemo and the jester character. There's a cutscene where they're talking and I think if I added a cute gradient background or something, it would be cute!
I also like spriters resource for old games sprites. https://www.spriters-resource.com/game_boy_advance/kirbynim/
When I moved I did a coloring book purge. I had to cut them down since I had like 50... But I don't realistically color in all of them, so I just kept the ones I actually like.

@FUZZY: It's important to go to the dentist regularly anyway.
I haven't been in a few years because I don't have insurance and it's expensive. But it really is something I should be saving to do at least yearly. >.<

@Ruby: I used to be really into amigurumi! I really like making little chibi cthulhu, because the tentacles are such fun to make. I've been trying to make things that are "practical" the last few years, which has ended up being like 6 blankets... But I'm working on a granny square sweater right now. I think they're so cute looking.
I never wear hats, I have like a thig about hats...? IDK.. But I bet they're fun to make!

@Alchemists Fire: I've only done a little bit of jewelry making. Honestly, mostly jewelry modification. I like getting things from thrift stores and reworking them into new pieces. I make a lot of my own bracelets, but those are almost all just beads on elastic. XD
Chainmail for your bjds sounds so cool! I love watching a few youtube channels that make dolls. The hair and clothes and stuff, it's so cool!
That sounds very cozy! I forget which one it is, but I remember reading that either knitting or crochet uses like twice the yarn for the same space. I think it's crochet that's worse, but I might have it backwards. Crochet is pretty easy once you get the hand of it. It's really all just the same thing over and over again. All the other stiches are just a slightly modified single crochet. So once you know how to do a single consistently , you can do anything.
I tried to do a little macrame. I can do like, giant friendship bracelets, where you do cool knots and stuff. But if it has a gap of empty space, I end up with my empty space being all different sizes. I got a few tiny looms and I've been doing tiny weaving lately. Just like baby tapestries for my walls. It's a nice 1 or 2 day craft so I don't get bored. XD
I feel like cross stitch is pretty easy, as long as you don't care too much about what the back looks like. I recommend getting a tiny cross stitch kit so you can get a basic idea of what to do. I love doing classic game sprites! I'm working on a bunch of sprites from Super Mario 2. But I think I should have made it more like 1 bigger piece instead of a bunch of separate small ones. I don't really know what I'll do with them when it's done..
I want to do the loading screen or maybe cut scene, from some of my old favorite games. I think a Kirby one with clouds could be really pretty.
This is my coloring book: https://www.amazon.com/Beautiful-Floral-Mandalas-Adult-Coloring/dp/1071268740
But I would happily get you the files for free. I can also show you what I started with the sacred geometry. I think it's all on my laptop. Which actually I should probably move to my google drive for safe keeping..

@Alchemists Fire: I do jewelry sometimes, but I find it sort of tedious? Like, it's all too small for my big hands and I get frustrated. >.<
I love crochet, but knitting scares me. It looks so much more complicated. OnO
But I learned crochet by doing scarves, so that's probably a good thing to be knitting.
I've been doing mandala sketches for a few years now, it's really satisfying. And then I started drawing sacred geometry. I don't really understand the geometry in sacred geometry, but I like looking up designs and trying to draw them. I started to make a sacred geometry coloring book...

Hey there!
I don't know how much they care about spam rules with the forum this slow, but if you want to make some money and just post randomly, in a row, or just emotes... there's actually a whole forum for it: https://www.voltra.us/forum/view_topic/5523
If you want to have a conversation and make friends though, hangouts is a good way to do it!
How are you liking voltra so far?

@FUZZY: Thank you, I added items to the trade.
@Alchemists Fire: I don't know how many ohms you have, but if it seems fair to you, just however much I need for a new crate. I forget, is it 100 or 150? If you could do like 150ohm for each of them, then I could buy a new item if one comes out. (Tree Spirit and Woodland Fae)
