I’m a long discussion style poster too no worries!
Although I’ve got work in a hot minute so I might disappear for long periods of time for the rest of today.

I assume so too? I keep an eye on her and I’d got to the vet the second I thought something was wrong. She literally acts like a person would if they accidentally smacked into a glass door because they didn’t see it (Which is what I have done) Like it hurts for a minute and you’re like ‘the heck’ but then you’re fine.

Yea pidgeons were the most popular in the victorian era if I remember correctly. That’s why they have the really pretty feather patterns in different colors too - people were breeding them to look prettier loool. I think some people still keep them as pets but they’re obviously a lot more uncommon now.

I’ve seen a sugar glider in person and I’ve gotten to hold a ferret before. I was delighted when I got to hold one they’re like small long cats basically from the size and weight. My mother used to have a ferret - I think temperamentally they’re not far off from cats either but I’m not positive. I think they’re usually kept in a cage most of the time though... I would do more research when I actually decided to get one.

I’ve been doing medium when the forums slow down to get a boost of currency because it’s about two posts worth and takes me about that long now that I’ve really gotten to know the one puzzle I’m choosing haha.

She always seems dazed but not worse for wear? I feel a little bad about letting her smack into things but it’s usually because she’s being an idiot about where she’s flying and not just because she can’t see. She knows where the landing spots are in this apartment by now she shouldn’t actually be smacking into anything anymore loool.

Yea that’s how I feel too. I got sweetpea from family that decided they weren’t bird people so I was saving her from a worse fate more than anything else.
If I ever get another bird I’m going to get a pidgeon. Pidgeons were actually bred to be pets which is why the ‘wild’ ones are so people friendly now and why there’s so many of them in cities - they’re basically the ancestors of ex-pets that were let go because they weren’t wanted anymore.

I want either a cat or a ferret or a sugar glider next though. Something a little more cuddly than sweetpea haha.

@priestessofpie:
Oooh I didn’t realize there was an achievement badge lool.
The extra hard I think was worth the amount of badges but it still took long enough I don’t know if I’m going to bother again.

@xvz:
What do you do for a living? If you can manage to find a job that’s work from home you could move to a cheaper area. As a random thought from me.

To be fair I don’t think any of my current set of penpals is from the originals that long ago. I’ve got one I’ve been penpaling for... Probably 6 years but she stopped a year ago because she didn’t have the time for it anymore.

I do let her fly around inside! She’s got bad eyesight though so usually she ends up smacking into something and ending up on the floor and then just trotting around after that.

The vet I had taken her to when I first got her said I could clip her wing feathers to keep her from flying but I knew she’d be in the cage most of the time and when she’s not I don’t mind keeping an eye on her so I didn’t bother.

I have a whole craft room full of stationery supplies loooool. And before I had a seperated room my living room was my craft room.
I am also slightly a hoarder when it comes to these kinds of things.

Oh gosh I’m not sure. Especially since it’s been on and off during certain parts of my life. But probably something like 7-10 years?

I finally got matches and now I’m a flower princess in a forest looool

Her name is sweetpea! Even though she’s usually quite ornery loool. I did not name her she came with the name and I still question why.

A cockatiel! She likes to wolf whistle

My handwriting is nice but a little on the messy side. Calligraphy does not equal super nice handwriting.

@xvz:
I’m the same way about writing on paper! I collect fountain pens for that very reason looool

I have an address book to keep track of the addresses and the online point of contact.
I have a box with dividers I made for it to keep the previous letters organized by penpal but every so often I ‘archive’ those to a more mixed up box by tying them up in bundles with ribbon because ~aesthetic~ loool

Oh no we’re actually behind them again aaarrrgh
friendly competition

@xvz:
Occasionally I get some of them a little confused because they have the same first name but usually I can tell from the letter itself who it actually is so no real mistakes so far.

Right most of these are penpals first and friends second. I’ve tried to stay in contact with some of my ‘real life’ friends using letters but it usually doesn’t stick for long.

@pachi: It is! I usually end up with much longer in-depth conversations because you’re taking the time to write out more rather than quickly throw out a comment haha.

@pachi: WE’RE GONNA BEAT EM

Not chewing on it is good then.

I jump every time video’s autoplay. I am very easily startled lol

I probably have something like 20-30 penpals total. Only about 5-10 are active enough that I mail them once a month. But that still comes out to me having at least one letter a week usually to respond to.

I don’t really talk to any of them outside of the letters currently. Two of my previous penpals that I now largely keep up with in other ways I used to also talk to them online on a fairly regular basis but they’ve both stopped writing for different reasons. I have one penpal now I chat with a little on instagram because I follow her account but not in any significant amount. For all of them though I have an online point of contact of some kind in case the letters get lost.
