Yeah I've used emulators for some games that never got officially translated (though that list is getting shorter over time). As a collector though I enjoy playing the games I own when I can. There's just something satisfying about popping it in the console and turning it on.

The Japanese versions of the super old stuff is pretty cheap here too when you can find it, but I pretty much only see it at conventions. I can't read Japanese though so I can only do some games. Pretty sure when my friend finally drags me to Japan I'm gonna need an extra suitcase on the way back though.

And they have a ton of selection. Here you'd be lucky to find one in working condition for a reasonable price. Sometimes you can get a deal at Half Price Books, but nowhere near the kind of discount.

I am big time jelly of the resale stores in Japan. They are crazy cheap.
