I know some people learn from reading right from the start, but my method was starting with grammar and vocab study before moving onto reading. I'd still read a bit of things here and there before then though of course

I reread all of the Harry Potter books in English not long ago, but it's been awhile since I watched the movies. I'm also back to reading through the Korean version, and someday I'll try to read through the Russian version. Reading a book you've read before helps give context when you read it in a language you're learning, as opposed to reading a book you've never read before
