ah i see, yeah that's true different cities do have different cultures for stuff like that , though i'm hoping that will matter less as remote work is becoming more accepted

mm that's true i think that is common :-/ but not necessary! i've worked at a few and they all had p good work/life balance imo
i've kept the same hours everywhere i've worked and everyone respected that and there wasn't any pressure to work beyond the hours i set
maybe i've just been lucky though? i also prioritize culture quite a bit when i job search
i hope you get the compensation you deserve!! i think we're in the same industry , if you ever want a second opinion on job stuff my pm's are always open :3

mmm ^^ i used to have an everything bagel w cream cheese + coffee every day when i was in school
when i have it now i still kind of associate it with that (..... for better or worse lol)
i've gotten in the habit of eating at regular times regardless of my appetite :0
just cuz i think it'll be good for my body , and i've gone thru periods of not having any appetite but would still make the effort to eat anyway

not to generalize but i feel like a lot of workplaces, esp if they're more later-stage career people ,
it's like work is kind of just like do ur time and get paid so you can focus on family / life outside of work lol
so like being speedy just isn't really worth the effort / not really any incentive for it

have u considered like, working at a startup environment maybe? i feel like those tend to be a lot more fast paced and could be more fun/engaging for you

mm true ^^ i was thinking of how like i feel like i talk to internet friends way more than irl friends ... ?
since these kinds of internet spaces are specifically for chatting :0
whereas i might not constantly chat w my friends ... i think bc of the nature of texting it feels like it's like ... i have to reply to every message vs. w online spaces you can dip in/out whenever you're in the mood for conversation

i love doing furniture layout stuff! i'll totally rearrange ur furniture for u lol
and i'm similar abt working efficiently/fewer hours :3 i think it is totally 100% ethical lol
like if someone takes 8 hrs and it only takes u 4 hrs, u should totally take the rest of those 4 hrs to relax / do whatever you want
otherwise i feel like you'd just be penalizing yourself for being efficient?

what ?? i can't picture ur room at all pachi lol
it's like bedroom in a house? but it also has a loft w a bathroom and kitchenette ??? is it like an in law suite type thing or smthg
sounds like a good setup to never leave your room

also i feel like ppl don’t really notice what hours you work too much? like i have no clue what my coworkers are doing and frankly don’t really care lol
like they could be working constantly or not at all and i probably wouldnt notice any difference at all as long as i get what i need from them eventually

i’m definitely working less but also i tend to reply to messages async (like i’ll get to it when i get to it / am checking and probably not right away) and i think people know to expect that from me and respect my work life boundaries

i think i def have more time cuz my commute used to be abt an hour each way
and i prefer working fewer more focused hours over a whole 8 hours but filled w goofing off
(i say as i simply work fewer hours filled with more goofing off)

tbh i tend to skip virtual events, unless it’s specifically to hang out or chat w friends i feel like they don’t appeal to me as much
like i need the in person aspect to feel engaged, i think it feels too much like work lol

i’ve been trying to focus on the silver lining, like at least i’m ... saving up more i guess? and will be able to pay off loans faster
andd i did back into more art and writing this year ...
and idk just embracing my hermit lifestyle lol
still salty and kind of burnt out from all the pandemic stuff ofc lol but i am grateful at least for the position i’m in
