Ugh.
I just finished a book that was marketed as YA and wowsers...
No Trigger Warnings- very adult themes.
Just disgust all around.
I may have had a slightly different perspective had it been marked for those adult themes, but the fact that this is YA makes me sick.

Oh? i wonder what book...
I know that sometimes the labeling gets very screwed up. Like some Tamora Pierce books are YA, and than the second half of the same series got labeled as Adult and she couldn't fight the publishers decision.
@shadami: It's called Damsel by Elana K. Arnold.
Like I get the feminist message she's got going, but if a teenager is picking up this book, it's totally going over their heads.
So, it's got scenes about graphic sexual assault, rape, self-harm, suicide, physical and mental abuse, and animal harm. According to another review, his male anatomy was mentioned no fewer than 19 times (although the different ways they describe it is pretty funny) and her breasts, 25. All of that in a little more than 300 pages.
There were a few times that it was so graphic that I went back and checked my library app to make sure it was YA and sure enough it was. Not that I have a problem with adult themes... as long as they are in adult books. Had this been marked for adults, I wouldn't have felt so disgusted by it.

Ugh... I didn't quite make it. I was 4 shy.
I'll make it my goal again this year.

5. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
6. Strange Practice
7. Mort

Oooo I might try and start this, I have a lot of books I bought/need to read but no motivation, so something like this would definitely motivate me. >:)
I shall definitely make a list and start it once my sister leaves and I have time to organize things. x3 Though I wonder how I could factor manga into this, since I have quite a few manga I need to read/have bought. >>

I feel like I can, but it also feels like cheating since manga are so easy to read. xD
Maybe I'll count 2 manga=1 book just to make myself feel better

you can do that :D i think it's kind of up to you to determine books.
like i couldn't count the kids books i read with my kiddos. they're technically books. and i'm reading them. But i just couldn't do it.

I mean, gotta do what you gotta do. xD
And on top of that you are reading every day!!
Today is my day off so I hope to start compiling my list. u wu Plus with reduced hours at work I should have time to actually start reading every day.

I'm struggling to read because I'm sick. Bleh. I hate this. Seems to be my thing when I'm sick now. I can't focus on words.
Cue panic attacks
Currently recovering from large amounts of PTSD. I'll post when I can, please ping for replies. Things are very difficult for me right now.
