"Huh. I see." Rene replied.

"Well... then that makes things easier." he told her.

"I'll order some pizza, and have it delivered right into the kitchen." he said.

"Just do me a favour and make sure the kitchen table's cleared off." he continued.

"And... should've asked this before, but any food allergies I should be aware of?" he then asked her.

"I can't think of anything..." Rene admitted.

"I mean... hm." he mumbled.

"All I can think of it possibly cleaning any dishes I may not have done earlier." he told her.

"Beyond that, I think I'm good." he said further.

"Oh, and check the expiry date on the chocolate milk in the fridge." he added.

"........right." Rene replied.

"Drink it if you want it." he told her.

"I'll pick up fresh on the way back." he said.

"Oh, and I'll be bringing back the cat as well." he went on.

"So... yeah, just do any dishes that might need doing, finish the milk off if you so desire, and make sure the kitchen table is cleared off." he told her.

"I'll see you when I get back." he finished.

It didn't take very long for her to finish clearing the table and doing the dishes. After she finished, she made her way to the living room, and sat down. Rene had told her she was free to watch TV, so that's what she did.

She did that for about 45 minutes, before there was another call. And when she answered it, it was Rene again.

"Hey. My day's over, so I'm going to head back. Might take a bit, and the food will get there before me, no doubt." he told her. "So feel free to dig in while it's fresh and hot." he finished.

They then said goodbye, and she went back to watching TV for another 30 minutes, before she felt a large surge of mana coming from the kitchen. When she went to check up on it, she saw a glowing mass on the kitchen table.

After the glow from it died down, she saw two large pizza boxes, some smaller boxes, and a few 2L bottles of pop.

And from what she could smell, Rene had ordered sides, as well as some desserts... and it all smelled so damn good.

The documentary had been one of a decent length, and after about an hour and a half, it had concluded, and she heard a car pull up to the front of the house.

Before she could really get up to see who it really was, she heard the door open, and immediately heard the padding of little feet.

And she also heard the little cat making little meowing sounds with each step it took, before it raced over to where she was, and jumped up onto her lap.

The cat purred loudly, and nuzzled her back, licking her cheek with its little tongue.

"Hey!" Rene called back, stepping into the room.

"Little guy's been anxious to get back. Now I know why." he commented with a laugh.

"And it seems he's fine." he told her.

"Had a few issues, but she was able to take care of them, so... yeah. Clean bill of health, essentially." he said.

He then paused for a moment, and looked around.

"Hm." he mumbled, before leaving the room, and she could hear his footsteps headed up the stairs.

There was silence for a moment, before she heard him come back downstairs.

"Question." he said.

"Was the light in the bathroom out when you got back?" he asked.

"Because it's not working." he commented.

"And it feels... oddly static-y in there, somehow." he said.

Rene's eyes widened when he heard the full story, and then they hardened.

"Son of a bitch..." he growled.

"Right." he said.

"I'm going to need to take a look at your injury." he told her.

"Make sure it doesn't get infected, or doesn't need stitches." he reasoned.

"It's my duty as a doctor, and as your current... well... guardian."

".............." Rene was silent as he heard that.

".....mmhmm..." he mumbled.

"I see." he said.

"Firstly, fair point." he commented.

"Secondly... is there more to what's under those wraps than you're letting on?" he then asked her.

Rene raised an eyebrow when she said that.

".....is that so." he said.

"That's... an intriguing thing to say..." he commented.

"To say the very least." he said further.

"....but, fine." he went on.

"I won't pry any further. Not tonight."
