". . . how've you been?" she then asked Hal, keeping her voice lower than normal to prevent Vincent from hearing any conversation the pair of them may end up having.

"Things've been good." She answered.

"busy, of course, but good. How about on your end?"

"Things have been steady at work." he said.

"And Hollie has been wonderful." he added.

"Oh, I've been okay." Vincent said to Hollie, not hearing the conversation in the den.

"Been keeping busy in my study." he went on.

"So, have you gone single again?" he then asked her.

"You an I are living proof of how even if you have a shitty rep... you can still win." She commented before sighing.

"Even if one of us has a stubborn nut."

Hollie just sighed as Vincent asked his question.

"No. No I have not. Coming up on the one year mark for Hal and I, actually." She told him honestly.

"I see." he said.

"I admit, I am surprised." he commented.

"One would think that djinn would have moved on by now." he said.

"Then again, a target such as yourself is very tempting." he added.

"....stubborn nut, indeed." Hal muttered to Rowena, having heard what Vincent said.

Hollie just sighed, but managed to keep her temper from flaring.

"I really wish that you'd just drop it, Vincent." She said.

"Because I am fine. Nothing has happened thuis far. Why the hell would you believe I'm in any trouble?" Shje asked.

"So drop it. If you're going to destroy dinner by constantly bringing that up, then leave now."

"........." Vincent was silent as Hollie said what she did, in the tone she did.

"...right." he said.

"I.... right." he repeated.

He was then silent, and sighed quietly.

".....this dressing..." he then said, trying to change the subject.

"Magma Raspberry extract in it, or no?" he asked, in relation to the vinaigrette for the salad.

Hollie was silent for a moment as Vincent changed the topic. There was quite a degree of something there, but it wasn't hard to tell that it was because she was appreciative of it.

"Yeah. I got some from Ash about a month ago and figured that it'd be good to use it." She answered.

"Delectable stuff and all. Will pair beautifully with the casserole I think."

"Hm." Vincent muttered.

"I.... maybe." he said.

"I've not considered it." he told her.

"....hey, Hollie." he then said.

"You ever think about Mother and Father?" he asked her.

"Wonder how they'd feel about where we are?" he asked further. "As in, status and health and all that." he then clarified.

Hollie just sighed as Vincent asked his question.

"I have." She said.

"I'm... Sure they would be proud of all we've both done." She said quietly.

"Anytime a necromancer has tried though... They've never successfully contacted them. I just wish that one day contact could be made... Because... I feel like sometimes... I just need to say hello."

"It has been so long." Vincent sighed.

"I just... wish I could speak with them again." he lamented.

"I have so much to say, so much I want to hear." he went on.

"But I guess they just don't want to speak with us." he said quietly.

"Not even Emelie will speak to me about them."

Hollie just sighed as her brother said what he did.

"I doubt it's ac ase of they don't want to." She said.

"If anything, it's more likely that it's a case of they just can't. I know there is a limit for how far a necromancer can pull back." She then said.

"And it's just possible that no one can reach that far back."

"Yes, true." Vincent replied.

"Still. It's disheartening." he sighed, as he finished making the dressing.

"And finished." he said.

"Here you go." he told her, handing her the bottle.

Meanwhile, Hal just sighed and looked at Rowena.

"He's a handful, isn't he?" he asked her.

Rowena just sighed as Hal asked him his question.

"At times... he really is." She told him simply.

"It's... it sucks. It really does, but I also know there isn't anything I can do it about it. He accepted me, despite my past, so ... I know he can move past everything." She then said.

"I get the sense he's been burning by a djinn in his past." Hal said.

"And... well... yeah, djinn's are... not nice." he went on.

"I'm a rarity." he admitted.

"But all we can do is wait and see." he told her.

"It was nice of you to come, though." he added.

"I... really don't doubt it, but even if he has been, he has no right to hold onto it." Rowena commented.

"Especially considering the fact... well... look at me. My history is NOT a good one. He was able to look past it for me, so why can he not for you?" She asked before sighing.

"I honestly don't get it."

"Neither do I." Hal responded.

"But all we can do is try." he said.

"So, tell me." he went on.

"How have things been for you?" he asked her.

"Life been going well?"

"True. All we can do is hope and try." Rowena agreed with a nod.

"As for how things have been, honestly, could be better, could be worse." She then said with a light laugh.

"So about standard. Nothing major going on. How about on your end? How have things been between you and Hollie? . .. Vincent aside."

Hal just smiled.

"Hollie is wonderful." he told her.

"She... she just... how can I put this...?" he wondered aloud, thinking about it.

"For the longest time, I'd been living with a gaping hole in my life. But I learned to ignore it." he said. "Hollie showed me that that hole was still there." he went on.

"And she filled it." he said further.

"My life feels... complete." he then told her.

"And it's the best feeling in the world."

Rowena just smiled softly, before sighing.

". . . you really best hope that Vincent doesn't hear that..." she muttered.

"But I think it's wonderful. It's seemed like she needed someone as much as it sounds like you did." She told him.

"I'm thrilled that you two found each other, and it... well, went from there."
