"Just the nurse that was in the ER." Averie commented.

"Along with Charles, of course, and Illias. The nurse, well, it was a mere mention of it, don't think I specified exactly the issue though. That I hadn't had it checked yet." She then said. "could easily be that I got an infection AFTER getting it checked."

"Illias already agreed to lie on my behalf for the dates. And Charles wouldn't know what I did after gettin' shot at."

After a little bit of time, Rene finished up with her wound.

"And done." he said.

"You shouldn't need to see me again for this." he told her.

"In terms of treating it, anyway." he clarified.

"Now. I need to do some research and find out when I treated you." he went on.

"Ie: specific time."

"I can give you the exact time for the story in a few minutes." he said further.

Averie nodded.

"I've no time crunch or anything." She added with a light chuckle.

"So do what you need to." She added.

After a bit, Rene had gotten back to her, and she was off to where she needed to be.

Where she had worked, where she had been dealing with that asshat. She made her way to the elevator to head up a couple floors. On her way, she did run into Charles, of course, but she just ignored him.

Charles, however, didn't ignore her.

He continued to shoot glares at her, and she heard him mutter under his breath.

Insults, scorns, that sort of thing.

It was clear he wasn't happy.

And he was taking it out on her... verbally, anyway.

Averie just smirked as the elevator opened and she stepped on. As she turned to face the open door, she met Charles' eye and just waved. She was sure he knew why she was there, and knew it would mean trouble as well.

After she was on the appropriate floor, she made her way to the door and knocked on it. The receoptionist who was usually there let her by, but then again,s he'd called earlier to give a heads up for her arrival.

After being beckoned in, she stepped in and closed the door.

"Thank you, Sir, for being willin gto see me for this." She stated.

"Enough with the pleasantries." he then said. "Let us get down to business." he told her.

"Tell me the nature of your complaint." he said further.

Averie nodded before sitting down and sighing. She didn't spare anything, no details were left unsaid. She fudged a little, specifically what she was, and the dates as need be, but beyond that,? It was all what happened.

"There's the lowdown." She then said. She'd given it much as would be expected from a report from an officer of any capacity.

"There are several of us who have been denied time off when requested, who have been stepped upon and had various punishments levied against us for the smallest of things." She continued.

"No one has stepped up due to fear of their position, their life here. I no longer have that worry, so I felt it was time to step up and have his ... position checked." She paused a moment before sighing lightly.

"Well, this will certainly be looked into." he told her.

"We will launch a thorough investigation as soon as possible." he said.

"And we will most certainly be calling upon you later for more information as needed." he went on.

"...and perhaps these other people will come forward as well."

Averie set a folder on the desk.

"There are medic contacts, along with Agent Illias." She stated. "Any of them can be contacted at any point regarding this."

"As for anyone else stepping up, I can think of a couple who very likely will. I honestly believe Vic will, since he'd been denied being at his sisters funeral because of Charles."

"Oh, plenty easy now that my job isn't on the line." Averie stated before pausing a moment.

"... I don't know if the others will come forth, though." She then added. "You may have to choose your words and timing carefully with them."

"Charles is... if word gets out that someone 'squealed' on him, he'll fire them within a heartbeat."

"If what all you say is true, he will be terminated post-haste." he said.

'Thank you for taking this time to speak with me." She said before bidding him farewell, and leaving.

She made her way back home and just sighed as she sat down, not sure what it was that was going to happen next. What she did know, though, was that she had a notable amount of time on her hands.

And she had no idea what to do with it.

The investigation started quicker than expected, and the proper people were interviewed. After about a week, Charles had been temporarily relieved of his duties, barring a more in-depth investigation, and she had received word from the Unit.

She was to fly out in a couple of days, and she had her e-ticket on her phone.

Illias had already flown back, but that was all right. She was a grown woman and knew how to take care of herself.

She noticed the flight left around noon, and she had a couple of days to pack her stuff and get ready.

Averie sighed as she sat on the plane out to San Diego. She'd alerted her temp boss, since she was still employed, that she would be out of town, and why. They had been far more allowing and understanding for it.

As the plane landed though, she just sighed. There was no way for her to know what anything held in store for her.

There was a ride waiting for her, as she'd been promised. She climed in and the ride was pleasant, before she was dropped off at her destination. After setting up in the hotel, she found the ride was still there, waiting for her. That made it pretty easy to tell that it was to take her to the Unit.

She made her way to where she was told to, before stepping inside. She had no idea waht was to come, but she noticed the reptilian scent almost instantly.

"Hey." She said, stepping up to the desk that was there.

"I'm here to see Hal Sharp. Name is Averie Winchester." She stated

The man didn't seem to look up from his paper, but she heard a noise. A familiar 'sst' sound.

"...I see." the man replied.

"Please present your I.D." he told her.

"We need to verify who you are before you can come in." he said further.

"And, to that extent, what IS your business with Agent Sharp?" he asked her.

She could tell he was sceptical, but it wasn't personal or accusational. She could see that this was him taking his security job seriously, and not wanting to put the unit in danger for any reason.

"Hopefully it being a Canadian ID isn't an issue." She then said before sighing.

"And I'm here at Illias' prompting regarding a job offer."

After a moment, he returned the ID, and nodded.

"Good enough." he said, before hitting a button.

"Door's unlocked." he told her.

"You need an escort to get to Sharp's office?" he asked.
