"So yeah... you're welcome to stay for food." She added.

After all that was ironed out, and he commented to make sure that Cain was around, the call was ended and she made her way up to her sons room. With a knock, she called in.

"Yo! Cain, you got plans tonight?!" She called through the closed door.

"Eh? No." he said.

"I thought I was staying in and eating dinner with you and Dad." he commented.

"Why, what's up?" he then asked.

"Oh, no. Not at all." She told him honestly.

"My boss just called though. He's stopping by for dinner, since it's been awhile, and he wants to talk to you." She added.

"I'm not sure what about, but ... yeah. Just wanted to make sure you'd be here, that's all."

"Well... fair enough, then. I was going to be here anyway, so... guess that's good."

"Cool." she said simply.

"I'll let you know when you can eat. It's gonna be another hour and a bit, though." She added.

"Oh, by the way, how's your makeup holding up?" She then asked after a second or two.

"I've gotta grab more myself, so if you need more, lemme know and I'll grab for you too."

"I'm a little under 50% left." he told her.

"I mean, it's enough to keep me going for a bit, but I'll need some more sooner, rather than later." he informed her further.

"So if you're going to get some more anyway, I suppose some for my own use would be useful and appreciated." he went on, sighing at the end.

"Wish I didn't need to use it, sometimes..." he admitted quietly.

"I'll grab you more." She then said.

"Same shade as usual?" She asked. He nodded.

". . . and I know, it's a hassle... I'm sorry." She then said.

"At least... you look more alive than I do normally."

"I know." Cain replied.

"It's just so unfortunate that I have to hide what I am." he told her. "I mean, I understand why I must, and it's a hassle at worst to put on the makeup, but... just..." he went on, before trailing off and sighing.

"I already had my self-hating phase as a teenager, so you don't need to worry about THAT, I just wish I could be accepted for WHO I am, without WHAT I am getting in the way." he reasoned.

"That's just this world, I suppose." he added with a small shrug.

"I accept what I am, and have no issues with it, I just wish the world would, too."

". . . At least you were less judged and rejected and feared at the highschool we enrolled you in." Aedan commented. "And, I mean that seriously. If we'd put you into a public school with the general public... that really wouldn't have gone well, not at all."

"But... I am sorry. I know that you didn't ask for this, but..... honestly, I may be able to figure out something that can help a bit. Lemme do some research, hey?" She asked, her voice sincere. She had every intention of talking with Kiah, Ilias and Angela. Perhaps they could help... or failing that, she'd talk with Hal about it.

Cain just sighed deeply in response.

"Do whatever you feel you need to." he told her with a small and sincere smile.

Time had passed, and Cain was now downstairs in the den with his father, as they both watched sports on the television. However, they soon heard a knock at the door.

"That'll probably be Hal!" Azazel called to Aedan.

"Am I getting it, or are you?" he asked her.

She was closer to the front door, but she might have had her hands occupied, so he wouldn't just assume she could do it.

"I got it!" Aedan called as she checked the oven. Once she was sure it was at the low temp she wanted, she made her way to the door and opened it, seeing who she expected. She stepped aside, opening the door as she did so.

"Come on in, boss." She said with a light chuckle.

"Evening, Aedan." he said, stepping inside.

When she closed the door behind him, he hung his hat and coat on a nearby rack, and looked at her.

"Apologies for the late visit." he said.

"But there is something I must discuss with you all." he told her.

"...and yes, Cain, in specific." he added.

"No worries." Aedan said as she started heading to the kitchen again.

"these will be done in about ten minutes." She then said, checking the oven again.

"The boys are in the living room!" She then told him. "Feel free to go have a seat."

"Gentlemen." he greeted them, sitting down.

"Boss." Azazel replied.

"Mr. Sharp." Cain greeted him.

"Who's playing?" Hal then asked.

"GB. And they might actually win it." Azazel responded. "Good. It's about time." he added.

"Heh, indeed." Hal agreed.

"Did you want to discuss something involving me?" Cain then asked him.

"We'll discuss it over dinner." Hal assured him.

It didn't take long before they all had a plate of food and were seated comfortably in the living room (as they didn't really care for using a table there).

"I haven't made these in awhile." Aedan then admitted after the men had eaten some.

"Yeah, they're really good." Cain agreed.

"I concur." Hal chimed in. "It's been a while since I've had homemade cabbage rolls, but these are pretty darn good." he told Aedan.

"Anyway, onto the point of what I have to say." he went on.

"Tell me, has Cain decided on post-secondary?" he asked. "And if so, how soon in the future?" he asked further.

"I..." She paused a moment, looking to her son, who had a mouthful of food. He just nodded, as if to say 'gfo ahead'.

"He's looking to get into Somnium nisi Cesarem. It generally takes a few years to get in though." She answered.

"Why?" She asked, her voice curious.

"I'd like to offer him a job until he goes to University." he commented.

Cain finished his bite, and swallowed, before looking at him.

"A job?" he asked.

"Indeed." Hal replied.

"...I can't do it." he then said. "Taking care of Lunet is proving to be too much for me. It's getting to the point where I'll need to either give her up, or resign from my position in the Unit." he went on.

"And I am NOT giving her up." he stressed.

"So I need a live-in sitter until she's more self-reliant." he told him.

"...I can do that again, sure." Cain responded.

"Except THIS time you would actually be living in the house with her." Hal added.

"Well, that's an easy way to get back with your little love." She commented with a smirk, poking fun at how it seemed that he possibly had some strong feelings of some sort for the girl.

Cain froze up when Aedan said what she did.

"H-HEY!" he exclaimed.

"It's not like that!" he insisted.

Azazel just chuckled and shook his head.

"Get used to it. You know your Mom's sense of humour." he said.

Cain just grumbled and growled for a moment, before looking at Hal.

"I'd be happy to help." he told him.

"Ah, excellent." Hal replied. "I'll be paying you more on a more flat rate, and not really by the hour." he told him. "We'll negotiate a salary later." he continued.

"Works for me." Cain responded.
