"I... I don't..." he went on, before his expression changed to that of concern.

"...why?" he then asked himself.

"Why do I not care...!?" he asked further, growing agitated, and like he was in a crisis right now.

"You don't care about a friend, one that I'd say from the outside may very well be classified as a 'best' friend." She continued.

"What has gotten into you, Az?" She asked, concern in her voice.

"I don't know!" he exclaimed.

"I'm trying to care, Aedan! I'm actually trying to make myself care!" he told her.

"And... and it's not working!" he added.

It was at that point, their son, Cain, popped his head into the room.

"Mom? Dad?" he addressed them, concern in his tone.

". . . Does this have anythign to do with the fact that demons aren't supposed to care?" Aedan asked, her voice curious, concerned, efore looking to Cain.

". . . Hey, Cain. You busy for the moment? If not, can you do your Dad a favour?" She asked.

"Uh... no... not... not really, why?" Was his reply, some confusion to his voice.

"Can you quickly check in on Erica? Let her know that something's come up and Az can't make it today, please." Aedan requested

"I WILL do that." he said further, in a very... odd... statement to make.

It was as though he was trying to convince someone that he would do it.

And it seemed like that someone was... himself.

"Since... I'm not sure the boy has her number." She then paused before looking to Cain.

He managed to catch it, though he did seem to stumble and fumble a bit.

"....." he was silent, before sighing.

And he then grabbed half of his head.

"Ngh." he grunted.

After the call was made, the two alchemists were sitting with Azazel.

"Look, we gotta figure something out." Aedan commented.

"Both of you are being a bit odd - one more than other, of course - but we need to figure out how to possibly fix it." She then said.

"Do either of you have any ideas?"

Aedan was silent for a moment before sighing and getting to her feet.

"Right then. Cain, you're with me. Az, don't go anywhere. Or I'll send Uriel after you." She said before heading down to the basement. As she walked, with her son following, she sighed.

"Sounds like some outside mana is playing with you, at least. Probably both of you." She explained.

"So let's mix something up to pinpoint if there is or not. "

"All right." he said.

"And... yeah, that sounds right." he went on.

"Dunno HOW it found me, though." he muttered.

"Seriously. I have no idea how some outside mana got to me." he clarified.

"I suppose could just be rogue stuff, but... for some reason I doubt it." he went on, before wincing again.

"Though half of me wants to say that's exactly what it is, and we have no reason to worry." he quickly said further.

"Meaning that it most likely is, as half of you is trying to sweep it under the rug." Aedan commented as they reached the basement, and entered the room where the pair of them liked to do their alchemy. She flipped the light switch before sighing.

"Now, admittedly, I'm not sure what the best method would be." She admitted before making her way over to some of the supplies and taking a look through them.

"Uh..." he stammered.

"Well, there's... always a tracer potion." he said.

"First one to identify foreign mana. Then maybe find a way to extract a sample?" he suggested.

"Then perhaps use that to find a way to specifically identify it?" he went on.

"...or just let it take its course, I'm sure it's nothing!" he suddenly blurted out.
