Darrell was stunned and scared when he saw a large black feline... akin to a panther... standing before him.

He almost didn't hear Ashleigh's suggestion, but nodded.

"R-R-R-Right." he stammered.

He then took his arm and extended his hand out towards Kitt.

There were some little shakes to it, but he brought the back of his hand closer to Kitt's face.

"Nice kitty...?" he asked.

Kitt... didn't seem to be wanting to play nice, before just stalking off.

"She's... probably going to go bug Casey." SAshley commented.

"But, while she might be keeping an eye on you for the next bit, she won't attack unless you make a move toward Casey or her kids."

Darrell just sighed heavily.

"Guess it's a good thing she didn't see what happened with Evan earlier." he mumbled.

"Probably." Ash agreed.

"Anyway, you still have some time before breakfast is ready." he then said.

"Yeah, I should get back to unpacking." Darrell commented, before yawning.

"Oh wow... yeah, feelin' tired suddenly." he muttered.

Ashleigh paused.

"... Even with the coffee?" She asked.

"Damn. That shit is supposed to mix with your mana to act as one hell of an effective energy boost." She paused again, thinking about it.

"Maybe the hunter genes you have are interfering." She added with a shrug.

"Anyway, feel free to go gfet some sleep if you want. I'll make sure someone wakes you for food."

Ash paused what he was doing for a moment as he heard the conversation.

"Ah!" he exclaimed.

"I think his hunter genes ARE affecting it, but not as much as you'd think." he told them.

"I think they're just delaying the effect." he continued.

"How can you be so sure?" Darrell asked.

"I've talked to your grandfather some in the past." Ash responded.

"He has the same issue with similar drinks."

"I ain't gonna argue that." She added with a light laugh.

"How do you know my grandfather?" Darrell asked.

"We've run into each other on a couple of my hunts." Ash replied.

"He's helped me out on one of them." he continued.

"Remember when I was sent out to take care of that Chaos Chameleon?" he asked Ashleigh. "And how I got back in record time, considering it was an emergency and there were no real tracker hunters to send out?" he asked further.

"Yeah, ran into Dom." he confirmed.

"He helped me find it in record time before it wrecked that little ecosystem it had invaded."

"That expalins it." She commented.

"And yeah. Dom's handy with shit like that. Almost anytime I do something with Vyn, she's got Dom with her when she can." She added.

"It's definitely a good thing, really. Gotten the pair of us out of a good number of scrapes."

Darrell just smiled and chuckled when he heard all that.

"Heh. Yeah." he said.

"Grandpa's pretty awesome." he agreed.

"He sure is." Ash told him.

"Ashleigh can probably tell you more stories about him." he continued.

"But yeah, give it another... 20 minutes or so. It'll kick RIGHT the hell in." he then told Darrell.

"Got it." Darrell replied.

"Oh boy can I ever." Ashleigh agreed with a laugh.

"Suffice to say, I have most certainly seen my fair share of shit wit him." She added.

"Anyway! Food'll be done in a bit. If you want to go and finish up what you were doing, go ahead. Someone'll come get you for it. " She paused.

"Or Casey'll grab you on the way, as she absolutely adore's Ash's waffles."

"I'll head back up to the room, then." he told her.

With that, he left, and Ash just sighed.

"Kitt'll get used to him soon enough." he muttered.

"She might take it upon herself to 'trap' him in that room, though. Lay in the doorway and growl at him if he tries to leave." he went on.

"Casey'll need to shoo her downstairs in THAT case."

"Uh..." She started before sighing.

"The first that comes to mind is that Mango Blitz that you found awhile ago, but I don't think we have any." She admitted.

".... admittedly, not sure. I don't keep tabs on the juice stock in the basement." She added with a laugh.

"Hmmmmm." Ash mumbled.

"All right." he said.

Some time later, Darrell had just finished unpacking, but wasn't quite done setting up.

However, the aroma in the air told him breakfast was nearing completion.

So he turned to leave the room... only to find the large black feline at the doorway, glaring at him.

"...oh." he mumbled.

"Oh dear..." he said.

'...would it be bad manners to use portals here?' he wondered.

'Would that make her see me as more of a threat?'

Kitt didn't move, just glared, and growled slightly as he made to step over her.

He was there, wondering how to deal with this, for about ten minutes before there was another voice.

"Kitt!" A new voice called. It was harsh, stern, and definitely sounded familiar, even if he couldn't identify why it sounded familiar. The feline, however, didn't move, aside from looking back toward the other person.

"Come on, Kitt. You can have some FireWater Salmon if you leave Darrell alone."

"......." Kitt was silent for a moment, before slowly standing up.

Darrell was silent as well, wondering about the voice.

'...huh?' he thought.

'Have I... that's... familiar...' he thought further.

Kitt then let out a low growl, and looked warningly at Darrell, causing him to flinch a little.

Then, seemingly begrudgingly, Kitt started to slowly lumber off.

"Sorry about that, Darrell." She said as she looked into the room.

"I don't know if you remember me, either." She added as she ran a hand through her red and black hair.

Darrell's jaw dropped when he saw her, and she gave the reminder.

"Wait..." he said.

"Wait, wait, wait." he repeated.

"I... you..." he stammered.

"Now that you've mentioned it, I DO remember you doing some babysitting for me." he commented.

"But... but didn't you give a talk to a bunch of classes at a large art museum once?" he asked.

"You're... you're THE 'KC', right?" he asked further.
