@Wildfire: My niece is in a stage where she wants adults to 'side' with her. So she was looking for me to be like "It's okay, you do you." but I couldn't give her that satisfaction. I've definitely noticed the craziest friends of mine had helicopter parent/s or had a rough childhood with bad-habit parents.
I kept my distance from my niece this visit, I didn't have the energy to be her 'go-to'. I do see that she's being a typical teenage girl, sporting a hicky and bad-mouthing her mom. XD
But she confided in my rough-around-the-edges friend that was over for Christmas. She confessed a lot of stuff to her. It is good that Now I'm in the know.
I'm just too tired to be my niece's bestie right now.

@Koah: That's completely understandable - you're too busy doing other things than being a teenager's confidante right now. But yes, it's good that you have a clue what's going on with her and the kinds of things she's doing. I hope she finds her path soon - preferably without any major life-altering decisions made along the way. Yeah... I think the best thing a parent can be is to just be there for their kids (this doesn't mean "best friend" - it means "be a parent", but be an interactive, supportive one who recognizes that these young people make mistakes and need guidance and understanding, and a dose of discipline/repercussions...)

I know why I'm groggy. We had our first session of the new year last night. My character got a bunch of the world's leaders on our side. By forcing the big bad to admit they were the big bad. She was hosting a 'video' call, basically using magic. Trying to get all of them to label my adventuring group as criminals, and terrorists. So I decided to slip out from my hiding place. Show myself. Use magic so she couldn't lie, and forced her to answer some of my questions.

Oh it was a super rp heavy session last night. Next Monday is going to be a whole lot of fighting. Like a mini boss and maybe a big boss. Then finding a way to get back to our own country. Because my character snuck into the enemy's castle and stole a ton of their war plans. Troop movements, schedules, supply chain lists, all that kind of thing.
Lol she also poisoned a bunch of the guards so that our rebellion could attack the castle without dealing with all of the guards, stole a bunch of their weapons, and destroyed the rest.

It was. Which is amusing, because Uni's main goal in life was to be a world famous musician. Then somehow she got involved with people trying to save the world. Now she's the one coming up with plans, and being a bit ruthless with enemies.
She's a Bard, right? Yeah, that seems a little unusual! But maybe it's a natural skillset coming to the foreground
