"Ah, he must be on another hunt." Andrew said.
---
A few months had passed, and Andrew had noticed something with their son. At first, he seemed to be reluctant to go to the tutoring sessions with Kelly.
Then he seemed embarrassed.
Then he seemed to be all right with it.
And then he seemed to actually be EAGER for them... to the point where if he'd gotten the date wrong, or if it had to be cancelled for whatever reason, he seemed to be genuinely disappointed and somewhat dejected.
Luke had just disappeared from the den to head to Kelly's place, when Andrew looked at Anna.
"Anna." he said to her.
"Have you noticed the changes in our son's attitude over the course of the past few months?" he asked her.

"I'd have to be blind to NOT notice them." Anna commented.
"Hormones are a thing, and despite not being fully human, they are quite a thing with both him and Lily." She stated.
"Beyond that, what are you getting at specifically?" She asked with a smirk. [/b]"Even though I'm pretty sure I can guess."[/b]
Andrew just rolled his eyes.
"I'm just wondering if it would work." he said.
"Luke and Kelly are... polar opposites in terms of their genes." he went on.
"Plus, their elemental alignment, so to speak." he continued.
"I dunno, maybe I'm just worried about him." he then sighed.

"Luke and Kelly are... polar opposites in terms of their genes." he went on.

"I dunno, maybe I'm just worried about him." he then sighed.
"Well, in all seriousness? If it fails, let them fail." Anna stated.
"He'll never learn what a good relationship is if he doesn't experience a horrible one." She then said after a moment or two.
"Beyond that, Eh, whatever." She added with a shrug.
".....hm." Andrew muttered.
"I suppose so." he said.
"Well, at any rate, she's doing wonders for his cooking." he added, before they went back to doing what they were doing.
Meanwhile, Luke had appeared at the front door of the Fyrane manor, and gulped audibly.
He then gathered his courage, and rang the doorbell.
He wasn't left waiting for long before the door opened.
"Oh, hey Luke. I didn't know that you were coming over today." the redhead who answered admitted before steppiung out of the way.
"Kell's is ... I think downstairs in her room. I dunno/ My brother would have a better idea, probably. I just got home."
"Hey Sam." Luke replied, stepping inside.
"Yeah, I wanna talk to Kelly." he told her.
"And downstairs? Cool." he said, as he smiled softly.
He then took a deep breath, and exhaled it slowly, holding a wrapped box in his hands.
"So how have you been?" he asked.
"Whatcha been up to?"
"Nothing you'd b e interested in, I'm sure." Sam answered with a laugh.
"But I just got back from a race." She added after a couple seconds.
"And what's that?" She asked, motioning toward what he had in his hands. "You here to finally profess your love to Kelly?" She asked
Luke's eyes became as wide as saucers, and his face turned beet red for a second, before he shook his head violently, and smacked himself a could of times.
"Wh-wh-wh-what??" he stammered.
"Wh-what do you mean? What are you talking about?" he asked.
"She... she asked me to make something before coming here, and would judge it." he said.
"That's all!" he insisted, his face still on the red side.
"....and I worked really hard on it..." he then mumbled sheepishly.
Sam just laughed.
"Yep. That's why it's wrapped like a present." She stated.
"Anyway, head downstairs. If she was expecting ya, she'll be there." She added before pausing.
"Unless she went out for a flight... honestly? I have no idea."
".....right." Luke muttered.
"Thanks." he said.
He then excused himself, made his way through the manor, and downstairs to where Kelly's bedroom was.
Once at the door, he took another breath, and exhaled it.
'Here goes.' he thought.
He then knocked on the door.
"Thanks." he said.
He then excused himself, made his way through the manor, and downstairs to where Kelly's bedroom was.
Once at the door, he took another breath, and exhaled it.
'Here goes.' he thought.
He then knocked on the door.
"It's open!" Kelly's voice called from inside. When he opened the door, he noticed the room was a lot cooler than it usually was, but that wasn't anything too surprising. She was more even in terms of temperature than her mother was.
'Hey Luke." She said with a smile before putting a bookmark in the book she was reading and setting it aside.
"I thought you were stopping by later" She then commented. "Is it already five?" She asked
"Well, it's 4:00." Luke said.
"Sorry, but I finished my... 'final exam', I guess you could call it." he told her.
"And I wanted to bring it here while it was still fresh." he reasoned.
'And while I had the nerve.' he thought.
"Sorry, but I finished my... 'final exam', I guess you could call it." he told her.
"And I wanted to bring it here while it was still fresh." he reasoned.
'And while I had the nerve.' he thought.
Kelly nodded.
"All right then." She said.
"Head upstairs. I'll follow in a moment after collecting the judge for this exam." She told him as she got to her feet. She hadn't told him that it would be someone else who was judging it. She wanted him to perfeorm as he would if it was her, after all.
Luke froze when he heard that.
"....wh-wh-what?" he asked.
"J-judge?" he asked her.
"You're not the one that's going to be trying it?" he asked further.
Beads of sweat started to form on his brow, and he looked to the package he had, sensing that things... could potentially get awkward now.
"....wh-wh-what?" he asked.
"J-judge?" he asked her.
"You're not the one that's going to be trying it?" he asked further.
Beads of sweat started to form on his brow, and he looked to the package he had, sensing that things... could potentially get awkward now.
Kelly just laughed.
"Nope." She told him.
"I'm biased. I like you too much. So someone else is going to be the judge of your cooking to see if you pass this test." She then stated simply.
"Is that a problem?"
Luke was silent for a moment, and swallowed a lump in his throat.
"Uh...." he mumbled.
"Maybe....?" he said confusedly.
"It... depends on who the judge is going to be." he admitted.
"Who is it?" he asked.
"Or is this a surprise judge all the way?"
"Uh...." he mumbled.
"Maybe....?" he said confusedly.
"It... depends on who the judge is going to be." he admitted.
"Who is it?" he asked.
"Or is this a surprise judge all the way?"
"Dad." Kelly stated.
"He's your judge. Why? What difference would it make?" She then asked after a moment or two.
"Is that a problem? It's not changing, mind."
Luke thought for a moment, and sighed.
"A problem?" he asked.
"Er.... hopefully not." he told her.
"Also.... question..." he then said.
"What did you mean by you 'like me too much'?" he asked her.
"Like, you can't be impartial here?" he asked further.
"A problem?" he asked.
"Er.... hopefully not." he told her.
"Also.... question..." he then said.
"What did you mean by you 'like me too much'?" he asked her.
"Like, you can't be impartial here?" he asked further.
"There is no shame in deterrence. Having a weapon is very different from actually using it." - Ghandi
Kelly just laughed.
"Not at all." She told him honestly.
"You're too damned cute to be impartial regarding."
