"But, to be fair, Denise is all talk." Sierra commented as she walked with Jack before pausing.

"Give me a second." She added before detouring to where Denise was. There was a brief conversation before Sierra just grabbed Denise's hand and started to walk back to where Jack was.

"Let us continue." She said to him after a few seconds.

Jackson was silent as he saw this.

"Uh... right." he said.

They then proceeded to make their way through the hallways, to the designated shelter areas.

"...we'll be okay, right?" they heard a student ask another.

"What's gonna happen?" they heard another ask.

"....all good questions..." Jackson mumbled to himself.

"I refuse to leave Denise to die." Sierra stated simply before they headed off.

When they heard the questions, Sierra just sighed. She didn't know what it was that she was supposed to make of that, and certainly wasn't sure what it was that she was supposed to make of this entire situation.

Before they could continue on, they felt the building shake, following a loud 'boom'.

"AH!" a student yelled.

"NO!" another shrieked.

"We're gonna die!" another one exclaimed, this one close to Jackson.

Jackson responded by smacking them down with his fist.

"SHUT UP!" he yelled.

"IF WE PANIC, WE GET IN THE STAFF'S WAY!" he told them.

"THE STAFF ARE TRAINED IN MUTANT AND HUMAN WARFARE! WE NEED TO BELIEVE IN THEM." he went on, showing a hint of innate leadership.

"SO LET'S ALL JUST GET TO THE SAFE AREAS BEFORE WE REALLY ARE DEAD!"

Sierra was silent as the exchange happened. She smirked by the end though.

"I can see why you fell for him, Denise. And why you are so desperate to get him back." She added after a moment. Denise didn't say anything, was focusing on not absolutely losing her due to panic.

"Jackson, I'm going to go on ahead. You get these people there." She then said.

"I will see you later"

Jackson looked at her, and nodded.

"All right, go." he said.

"EVERYONE THIS WAY!" he ordered.

"COME ON, MOVE IT! FOLLOW THESE PEOPLE HERE!" he said further, gesturing in the right direction.

"NOW GO!" he ordered further.

With that, people started to hastily move into the shelter areas, with Jackson continuing to bark orders and commands.

Sierra sighed before heading off with Denise. She knew that she needed to get somewhere safe, after all.

She picked up a few stragglers on the way, though, and that didn't play in her favour.

As she was trying to get one of the youngest students there to come out of the little cubbyhole that they had found themselves in, she felt something hit her back, and it was sharp. With a cry, she looked behind her, and just froze.

Behind her was someone, one of the ones that was attacking the school.

She let out a quick shit before yelling for the others to go, since they were hiding out of sight for the moment.

The one that had caused her the pain was holding a gun-like weapon, and it was still pointed at her.

"Now..." he said.

"Now is the time for humans to do what we should have done a-AAAAAAGH!" he started to say, before it turned into an outright scream of pain.

That's when she noticed that another student was using their powers to encase them in ice, starting with their back.

Sierra was silent for a moment as she fought to get to her feet. She had no idea what it was that she was shot with, but there was far more pain than she could believe coursing through her for the moment. There was no way that it was just a plain, regular, run of the mull bullet. Not with this sharp pain she felt. It just didn't feel right for a bullet.

She approached the one that was being frozen, an almost sick grin on her face, before sighing and reaching up toward it.

"You're going to sleep for a very, very long time." She stated as she brought a hand up, leaving the physical hand behind. She reached toward the face, the forehead specifially, of the man, before just plunging her fingers in while the other student was keeping him still.

The man looked to be shocked and stunned for a moment, before he let out a screech of unearthly agony... and then he collapsed forward. Still. Silent.

".....wow." the student said.

"That was... creepy." they commented.

"Are you all right?" they then asked her.

"They did not hit my spine. I am fine." Sierra answered with a bit of an ethereal echo to her voice.

"Let's go." She added before sighing lightly.

"We need to get to the safe zone, otherwise, we will be in serious trouble." She added before attempting to get the one that was hiding out again.

The one that had been hiding was clearly still scared and cowering, but they eventually came out.

And when they did, they latched onto Sierra tightly.

"Come on." the student said.

"There's nurses at the shelter areas." they told her.

"One needs to look at your injury." they reasoned, looking around.

"And we seem to be running very low on time..."

Sierra nodded before lifting the small one up. She was quite small, only about the size of a 10 year old - if that - but it made sense. IF Sierra recalled correctly, they had an ability to shrink to avoid trouble.

It was definitely useful.

They made themselves smaller as Sierra lifted them, before the ghost girl sighed.

"All right, let's go. I think we're close, if I am recalling the map correctly. Down this hall then to the left. Take the first right after that, then the fourth left after that and we'll have a door to go through.." she stated, half reciting it to see if she was remembeing it correctly.

The other student nodded.

"Yes." they replied.

"That's correct." they said.

The three of them then started to run down the path given to them, but they heard footsteps behind them.

A lot of footsteps.

Heavy footsteps.

As though an army were right on their heels.

As they turned a corner, sierra sighed and passed the one she was carrying to another.

"Go." She said.

"I will deter them. I will distract them." She said as they had a few seconds and that was it.

"Tell Jackson if you see him again.... that I will meet him in the future. I do not know when, but I will. If not today, then later." She said with a smile before turning and running (despite the pain she felt) off toward those that were coming their way. She knew that she had to do whatever she could.

The student was silent as Sierra said what she did.

"I..." they said.

They then bit their lip slightly.

"Yeah..." they muttered.

"If I see him again..." they said quietly.

"........" they were then silent, before they turned and ran, and Sierra could hear a sadness in their voice.

Which was when she heard some others behind her.

"Wasn't Jackson supposed to be here already!?" someone asked, before she heard the heavy shelter door start to close.

'Jack, you better survive so I can find you again." Sierra said quietly as she turned a corner toward the steps. She had no idea what was going on, what would happen, but she knew that she had to keep the intruders away from the safe zones.

Or at least that one, which was where she was sure they were heading.

So she made her way there, and when she found the group that were charging in. She stopped at the doorway, while they were in the middle of the room.

What she saw was a group of about 10 invaders... all armed with similar weapons to before, and all of them in garb that said they were going to war.

One of them then stepped forwards, clearly in charge.

"Hm?" he mumbled.

"One?" he asked.

"They think one girl can stop us?" he chuckled.

"Or are you resigning yourself to fate and throwing your life away?" he then asked her.

Sierra shrugged.

"Sure." She said.

"I can work with that." She added before smirking.

"So let us go with it." She then said with a nod before sitting down in a chair that was there. It was closer to them that she would ideally like, but she didn't want to sit on the floor if she could avoid it.

"Now, please. Do what you will." She then said. "But do not leave this room. While I am in here, I am fair game, but only in this room. Deal?" She asked.

"If you kill me and there is nothing else around, then you may leave, but not before. All right?"

The one in charge just burst out laughing.

"How amusing!" he shouted.

"But very well!" he said.

"Sir?" one of his followers asked.

"I'm curious as to what she thinks this will accomplish." the commander responded.

"Fire at will." he ordered.

Those that were there just shrugged, aimed their weapons at her... and then all fired at her.
