Sierra was silent as she was slapped, and through everything else that happened. She didn't care. This was... this was just what she needed.

I will miss this body... She thought after a moment.

But it's worth it to see if Jack's alive...

The ride seemed like it went on forever, but eventually, the van came to a rough stop.

After she heard some scuffling and clunking, the doors opened, and several hands grabbed her, throwing her out of the van, and onto the ground.

She was then lifted roughly by her arms, and forced along, until she was thrown against a wall. As she looked around, she saw that a monstrous heavily-fortified structure stood before her.

"Enjoy your last moments, before you become nothing more than decoration for birds to shit on." one hissed.

Sierra was silent for a moment as she took in the size of the structure ahead of her. It wasn't until she felt the butt of a gun - for that was the only thing that she could think of it being - jabbed into the small of her back.

"Move" It was an order, she knew that. So she moved as she was told to, heading inside.

Is Jackson here...? She wondered as she was looking around, while walking still. It didn't take long at all before she was shoved into a large room. There was nothing else in there. Well, not if one was counting the stone figures that were there, littered all throughout the entire room.

And it was a huge room.

After waiting for a few minutes, she saw someone else was ushed into the room, alongside more soldiers.

It was as she hoped/feared... Jackson.

But he looked... very different.

His body was covered in wounds and scars. His hair was dishevelled and messy. His eyes were dull and heavy... he looked like nothing more than a meat puppet on strings. Or one that had given up on everything, including free well.

The only other thing was that his gloves were now longer... and seemed to almost reach his elbows.

"Go on." one said, pushing him forward.

"..............kay." was all Jackson replied with, his tone as dead as his expression, before he took his elbow-length gloves off, and walked towards her.

"It must've spread..." Sierra commented as she watched him remove the gloves.

"Oh Jack...." She added as he neared. He wasnb't moving particularly fast. She didn't do anything until he was about halfway to her, before she just closed the distance.

"Jack.... Jackson, what have they done to you?" She asked as she closed the distance, which didn't take too long.

"You're a shell of yourself..." She added before sighing lightly.

"I'll save you, I swear."

"........" Jackson was silent as she said what she did, and didn't react.

"DO IT!" one of the men barked.

Sierra saw Jackson's eyes shaking and quivering in his skull, before he just lifted his hands and placed them on her cheeks.

As soon as he did so, Sierra's world became a mess of grey, until it went all black... and then she found herself expelled from the body as it turned to stone.

"Excellent." one of the soldiers said.

"Her expression of sadness and despair is... exquisite."

"Oh Jackson....." Sierra said quietly before sighing. After a moment, she didn't hesitate for long before stepping into Jack's body. She didn't know what all to expect here, but she'd had to try.

Her stepping in... would she be able to? Would there be any sort of result?

She managed to step in, and inside was so reminiscent to how grey her world has gotten before it went black.

There was nothing there, though. She couldn't see any sense of life in there.

". . . Jackson...?" She asked as she looked around.

"Seriously? ... What have they done to you....?" She then asked, not sure if she would be able to stay, but at least it would be a way to get an idea for where they were at the moment. If she was able to stay without him noticing.

"Come on!" she then heard.

"Back to the cell!" Jackson was ordered.

"...kay." Jackson replied blandly.

And even though he started to walk on his own, he was shoved and prodded violently to get him moving along.

"Come on, come on! Filth." one of them spat.

"Kay." was all Jackson responded with... again.

As they walked, Sierra saw that it was... barren inside Jackson's consciousness. Empty and barren. Almost like a dungeon. There wasn't a single trace of who he used to be inside of him.

But... she swore she could sense... SOMETHING... deep within the recesses of this monotone hell that was now his psyche.

"I swear there's some part of you still alive." Sierra said quietly.

"But I can't do it here. I have to wait..." She added with a light sigh.

---

A few hours later, Sierra was at the hospital, looking for another body to inhabit. It wasn't hard to do, thankfully.

She just sighed as she took one, being thankful that the morgue attendant was a mutant that knew about her, as they had been one of the staff at the school previously, what felt like years ago.

"Thanks." She said once in the teens body. They had died from an unfortunate turn of events.

"You'll likely see me again. A lot." She then told them.

The attendant just sighed deeply.

"....yeah." he replied.

"Probably." he said.

"Sierra, be careful." he told her.

"I mean...there's plenty of bodies here, but... just... yeah." he mumbled.

"I hate seeing you come back for bodies to inhabit." he admitted.

"What are you doing, anyway?" he asked. "To garner such a need for containers?"

Sierra just met his expression, a serious look in her eyes.

"I found Jackson." She answered honestly. This was someone she could trust til the end of time. She knew that. He even made it that there were some bodies put on ice, after being 'cremated' just so that she could claim them when need be.

"I will save him. I do not care what it costs me, or how many bodies I need to go through. I will save him."

The man was silent, and his eyes widened.

"....Jackson?" he asked.

"You... you found him?" he asked her.

She just nodded.

"............." he was then silent again, before looking away.

"....then it's true, isn't it?" he asked.

"These statues. They were once people, weren't they?"

Sierra sighed as she sat on the tray for the morgue drawer that the body had been in.

"I.... Yes. Yes they were." She answered.

"My previous body was ... it will be an example, much as the statues are." She then said.

"Which is absolutely terrifying. He... he was so steadfast, would have been so difficult to break." She continued before biting her lip.

"But... they broke him. You should see him. He's a shell of himself." It wasn't hard to hear the pain in her voice, either.

"It's hard to imagine Jackson being broken." the man responded.

"It proves how frightening they've become." he said.

"Sierra... just be careful." he went on. "As much as you can, given this mission, anyway." he then clarified.

"If Jackson's still there... if any part of him remains... he's in hell." he said further.

"He has to be." he went on.

"I can't think of any other way he'd been feeling."

"I am certain there is part of him still alive within his own head." Sierra stated.

"There has to be. When I stepped in after the body I was using was turned to stone, I felt something.... and it felt like him. It was small, it was hidden, but it was him." She then said.

"I will save him or die trying. And you know how difficult I am to kill." She added with a smirk, and a bit of a cocky attitude. It was something that one didn't see often, but it was more frequent than it had been while she was in school.

The man just chuckled.

"You're quite easy to kill." he told her.

"As easy as whatever body you inhabit." he said.

"It's KEEPING you dead that's the hard part." he reasoned, shaking his head a little.

"Regardless... good luck, dear." he told her.

"Always know that I have your back." he assured her further.

Sierra just smiled soften before giving him a hug.

"thank you." She said.

"I will do all I can to not have to come back here.... a hundred or more times." She added after a moment.

"For now, I have someone to save. I will return... in one way or another." She then said before grabbing a few of the chips he'd been munching on and heading out. She needed to draw attention to herself soon, after all.

He returned the hug and watched her leave, sighing, and shaking his head.

"...I'll do all I can for you." he said quietly, as he looked at the bodies that surrounded him, safely put away.

"Even if it's watching you die again and again." he went on.

"Please... for your sake... succeed in this." he begged to the air.

"You need it." he finished quietly.

Sierra wasn't stupid. She wasn't going to get into a new body just to immediately go an draw attention to herself. No. Instead, she waited a bit between each one.

For instance, this time she waited about two weeks before being in the square, again, and looking at that same statute she had seen before.

"It's such a shame that you've been taken so low..." She said, almost as if she was talking to the figure before sighing and stepping up to it. With a subtle smirk, she grabbed a paint pen out of her pocket and wrote in bright silver paint on it.

This is WRONG. Continuing with this course of action will lead to damnation AND death! DO NOT FOLLOW THEM. Those that are different should be allowed to be free and different as they are!

She knew it'd get someone's attention, at some point.

Sure enough, it did.

And it was attention from a soldier. She knew this because she heard the click of a gun being readied.

"Excuse me." she heard in a low tone.

"You are defiling a monument." he told her.

"With mutant sympathizing propaganda, no less." he went on.

"You'd better have a damn good explanation." he then warned her.
