"I'm really hungry." he admitted.

Jaden blinked a couple of times, and was silent for a moment.
"Uh..." he stammered.
"Yeah. Yeah, I am." he said. "As ready as I'll ever be, anyway." he clarified.
"I... have a question, though." he then said.
"I've not seen THAT blade before." he commented, gesturing to the one that Demi was holding.
"Why are you using IT, instead of the one that you gave me?" he asked. "I mean, it's clear it hasn't been used in a while, as it needs to be sharpened as badly as it does." he went on.
"So why did you stop using it?" he inquired.
"Uh..." he stammered.
"Yeah. Yeah, I am." he said. "As ready as I'll ever be, anyway." he clarified.
"I... have a question, though." he then said.
"I've not seen THAT blade before." he commented, gesturing to the one that Demi was holding.
"Why are you using IT, instead of the one that you gave me?" he asked. "I mean, it's clear it hasn't been used in a while, as it needs to be sharpened as badly as it does." he went on.

"I merely wish to give it a whirl." She added.
"But I need to sharpen it first."
"That blade doesn't stand a chance for being used in its current state, so yeah. Sharpening it would be a wonderful thing, I think." Racquel agreed with a nod before looking back to Jaden.
"Let's see if that one lets you take it out of the box, and then the sheath."

With that, he opened the box, and looked at the blade inside. He took it out of the box, the blade feeling heavier than before... like it was offering resistance.
"....." he said nothing, before grabbing the sheath, and taking a small breath.
He then pulled on the sheath, aiming to remove the blade from it. At first, it didn't seem to budge, so he tried again. This time it moved a little, and then a little more, before he slowly managed to remove the blade from the sheath.
"...that was... hard." he admitted.
"....right." he said.
With that, he opened the box, and looked at the blade inside. He took it out of the box, the blade feeling heavier than before... like it was offering resistance.

"Today... will be a long day." Racquel warned him before beckoning him to take a seat. Once he had, she started trying to teach him how to sharpen a blade, with emphasis on points that she knew that blade required emphasis on.
She didn't know how it would go with him, but she knew that he'd have to try.
If anything, this would strengthen him if he decided to leave there. He wasn't obligated to stay, after all.

Jaden followed Racquel's instructions as best he could. He took in what she said, followed what she did... but, as was expected, there were complications.
Such as the blade seeming to move at random points, which ended up with Jaden nicking himself.
Or outright cutting himself.

Demitra laughed as she saw the amouint of blood on Jaden's hands, arms, shirt, and the blade.
"Yep. Although you fared better than I did." She told him as she approached with a roll of gauze.
"Slit my arm bad enough I nearly bled to death." She added as she sat across from him, showing him her arm, the scar that was there.
"Anyway, set it aside, let me patch you up."

He then extended his arms, and allowed Demitra to work.

"I was able to stop most of the bleeding. You may need to feed sooner than normal because of what you've lost, but I think you'll be all right." she told him as she sat back on her heels.
At least he survived, really. That blaade could be absolutely vicious, and she knew that.
