"See, Lilim hasn't caused any trouble up here, so there's no reason for him to attack her." he said.

"Plus, he hates her family." he continued.

"Essentially, it's a... 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' situation." Azazel chimed in.

"Yeah." Lex confirmed.

"As for Aimee... I don't know." he then admitted.

"All I can do is talk to her about it."

"I would recommend doing that once you can." Sydney commented.

"She'll be out for awhile, but all that should be sorted before she wakes, most certainly." She added.

"Anyway, is there anything else you need me for?" She asked. "I ... probably should get back to the Triad."

"I don't think so." he said.

"Yeah, I think that's all. Lilim's out of the woods, and that's what matters." Azazel agreed.

"Thanks again, so much." Lex told Sydney.

"I am indebted to you." he told her.

Azazel just chuckled.

"Lilim is too." he said.

"Not that she'll admit it." he added.

"Absolutely not a problem." Sydney commented after a moment or two.

"Seriously. It was a welcome break. I'm basically nothing more than the tie-breaker at the Triad, anyway." She added with a shrug.

"And yeah, she should be all right. Having your sister around shouldn't have such an effect as it did just recently." Then then said before pausing a moment, thinking about that. "Yeah... pretty sure, anyway."

"Regardless! I'm gonna bail. If you need me for anything else, lemme know. I'll likely send Aimee back when I find her again too."

Azazel and Lex watched her go, before Azazel sighed.

"I should be going as well." he told Lex.

"I have some info to give to my son." he said.

"Yeah, go on." Lex responded.

Azazel disappeared from where he was in a demonic burst of mana, leaving Lex alone with the still-unconscious Lilim.

He looked towards her, before shaking his head and grabbing his cell phone.

We need to talk. Sooner, rather than later. he sent to his sister.

Lex wasn't waiting for super long before he received a response.

Oh? Want to meet me here - I'm at the coffeeshop down the street - or do you want to wait until I can come home? she asked. It was simple, as she realised her mana was a bit much for Liiim at the moment, so she didn't want to head back if she would be a risk or a hazard to the lady she didn't know.

She looked at the coffee she had on the table ahead of her before sighing lightly, wondering what was going on. She didn't know what to make of any of it, but she was sure her brother was safe, at least.

Lex was silent for a moment, before thinking heavily on it.

"Hmmmm..." he mumbled.

"I can set up some defensive measures..." he muttered further, taking into consideration that Lilim would be out of it for at least a day or two.

I'll meet you there. he sent.

Give me 10 minutes or so. he sent further.

Sure enough, about 10 minutes later, closer to 15, he stepped into the coffee shop, scanning the place for his sister. When he located her, he made his way over and sat down across from her.

"Hey." he greeted her.

Aimee smiled softly when he sat down. She pushed a second drink she had across to him.

"Got you a drink." She said simply.

"I know what you like here, and all."

"Now, before we talk, I have a question." She then said as he accepted the drink.

"Thanks." Lex said, accepting the drink.

"...." he was then silent before taking a drink.

"Yeah." he answered.

"She should be okay." he told her.

"She'll be out of commission for a couple days, though." he muttered. "Which is to say, that's when she'll wake up." he clarified.

"Thank you." he continued.

"Lady Sherwood saved her life." he said.

"Normally I would have gone to Vincent or any of the Council medics, but they're all pure aligned." She commented. "Sydney was the only one I could think of that was tainted aligned that could actually help." She added.

"What is she, though? Why... why was my presence such a hazard to her? It was almost instantly after I'd answered the door that she hit the ground."

"She's Lilim." Lex replied.

"Remember the demon that hijacked my rune a few months back?" he asked.

"Or, well, remember me telling you about it?" he then clarified.

"That's her." he said.

"If I were to wager a guess, in her weakened state, your pure mana was too much for her to handle." he went on.

"So I moved her to the spare room in the basement. Put up some defences as well." he added.

"I... honestly hadn't expected her to return." She admitted after a few seconds.

"But... all right then." She sighed lightly, not entirely sure what it was that she was going to say about that, specifically, 'do you think she'll be stay for awhile?"

"It was stronger when it wasn't spread between so many people, I suppose. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure, but it is overall weaker now than it used to be."

"It sucks." he muttered.

"But I think that she should be safe while within the walls of our home." he told her.

"I want to help Lilim, but I don't want you to feel put out by this, or whatever." he said further.

Aimee nodded.

"I completely understand. Don't worry about that." She then said with a light smile.

"Don't worry. I'm all righ twith her staying for a bit." She assured him.

Sure enough, it was a few days before Lilim stirred. It was something that was slow to happen, and when she did finally wake she was up on her feet, looking around alarmed and ready to be attacked at a moments notice. It didn't take long though, only a few seconds, before she realised where she was.

She recognized the mana in the building. With a silent she looked around, foudn the stairs and made her way up them to the main floor of the house.

She had just started to wander, when she heard something coming from the den. As she made her way closer, she realised it was... snoring. She stepped into the den, and saw Lex sprawled out on the couch... however, he suddenly stirred, and blinked his eyes open.

"Muh... huh?" he mumbled.

"Oh!" he exclaimed, getting off the couch.

"Hey." he greeted Lilim.

"How are you doing?" he asked.

"You were really in a bad state when you showed up here." he commented.

Lilim was silent for a moment before sighing.

"To be perfectly honest, I have no idea." She said after a moment or two.

"I think... I'm all right?" She asked, knwoowing that he wouldn't be able to answer that.

"I... hadn't expected to come across a pure necromancer, to be honest." She admitted.
