Aaaaaaaand this Megadeth song is stuck in my head xD
A tout le monde, a tout mes amis, je vous aime, je dois partir
These are the last words, I'll ever speak, they'll set me free

New temp role at work, so many new things so quickly. Maybe I'll have to type out the audio file I've been listening to repeatedly for 3 days xD

@toe: You're very welcome!! Neons make me happy, especially when I can contrast them with black, haha. I'm a SUCKER for contrast stitching ♥
My favourite colours are black, purple, and lime/neon green (so Voltra's Coal, Eggplant, and Lime), so your avi makes me VERY happy xDD
That's exactly the kinda thing it was, movie with a live orchestra! Ahhh, it was so much fun! I loved every second of it! We had pretty decent seats, but I couldn't see the brass or woodwinds behind all the strings (so many violins, haha). I think next time I might wanna get a balcony seat, or actually be further back and a little higher up.
I wanna go again so bad, I think they're doing Star Wars episode 5 in October, and sounds like Harry Potter #1 in April. I'd love to see Pirates of the Caribbean or Lord of the Rings in this format too =O
You got to do cross stitching in school?! That's so awesome, I wish I'd got a random cross stitching day =(
I did get to learn how to make chainmaille in a jewellery class in high school though, so I can't complain!
I got a couple of rainbow patterns off Etsy, for like $5 or less. I wanted to start with something I love that's on the simpler side (so I don't get frustrated and am less likely to make mistakes). I'm sure I could've pixelled a rainbow and made my own, but I figured it'd be smart to go a pattern someone had already worked out, they've already selected the colours and provided stats for what colours and how much floss, etc. Take the guesswork out, ya know?
I'm excited to have someone to post with, cause I'm basically just like "must earn Volts for commons" one-track-mind. I can't wait to see your super-commons avi! ♥

@toe: All good, it happens =) I love your very brightly coloured avi! Neons make me happyyyy!
I'm at work (boo), but have plans with a friend afterwards and I'm very excited! We're going to see Star Trek (the first Chris Pine one) but with a live orchestra! Super-stoked.
I'm also really excited because I just bought my first cross stitch pattern and I'm going to go buy my floss colours tonight. I'm so excited to start, cause it's basically IRL pixel art ♥
There's SO many older items I pine for, kinda sucks things are so quiet and it makes it hard to exchange for things, but that doesn't some be from drooling over the Item Museum xD
Thankfully we also have a lot of really great commons, so I'm trying to build a bunch of avis just using those too

@Lina: I haven't seen too many people with chainmaille gloves (fitting to the fingers is a real pain), but a purse sounds really cool! I think I've seen people do change purses, but never a full like shoulder bag. Now I wanna do something stupid and make a chainmaille messenger bag....
I love when people make the effort to put chainmaille in cosplays and actually do it properly rather than just painting a chunky knit with metallic paint. Armor is definitely a skill, but you get to use so many much prettier, more decorative patterns when you do jewellery, haha
I've never woven anything with any sort of design, I just do stripes, so colour changing isn't that painful. I would absolutely be lazy and just snip or glue ends down The first weaving I did I think we took off the cardboard loom and put on sticks we collected from outside xD (again, like grade 4...so like 8-9 years old)
Ohh, that's really cute! I bet it'd look awesome with a nice little gradient background, but there's nothing wrong with a plain background either! I'd love to do a scene from a Pokemon gameboy game or something
Oooh, spriters resource, I'll definitely check that out! Pixel art = instant cross stitch pattern xD
I've always found it hard making marks in books I've bought, I definitely have the "keep things pristine" quirk. If I really wanna colour something I'd probably scan/photocopy it xD

@Ruby: Yeah! I have no idea where it is now, I might still have it or it may have been donated or given to younger cousins or something, but it was interesting. I think I was like 8 or 9 when I got it so it's been years since I used it
Okay now I'm curious about this jewellery clasp holder stick things, can't say I've heard of those. Just looked, that's a neat idea! I can definitely see how having the extra stick and the alligator clamp would help!
I swear I've seen another version for helping hold bracelets on while you're clasping them, but now I can't find it
Ohh right okay silly bandz were the dinosaur ones. I remember seeing those and just thinking they looked uncomfortable AF.
I also remember the skinny rubber ones that were kidnda meant to be like bangles? Oh what were they called..... jelly bracelets?
I could never get my silicone ones to un-sticky, once they got dusty and warm they got sticky and were unsalvageable D:

@FUZZY: Oh, that's fun, I've done that! Someone got me a "bead maker" kit as a kid and it was making beads with skinny triangular strips of paper
Actually, THIS was almost the exact thing I had!
It's a neat idea, but IDK how sustainable it is. I always had trouble getting my beads to stay stuck together
@Ruby: Oh, I think I get it, like you hold one end down with your middle finger or something? I've had to do that with clasps and I think that's how I'd have to tighten the sliding style ones, never tried tying one on like that
I forget what silly bandz were, I meant like these things xD
I had Livestrong, I think a music related one, 3 in my high school colours, and a few others, can't remember it was like 15+ years ago now
But I think I broke two Livestrong bands and the other ones just got old and sticky xDD
Booo, pinchy bracelets suck =(
I didn't mean "rubber band" like elastic bands, I just said "rubber bracelets", but maybe they were more silicone, idk xD all I know is they got icky and gross after a while haha

@FUZZY: What kind of things have they done previously? I totally understand the hot and gross and not wanting to go anywhere =(
@Ruby: How do you tie them on your own wrist though? don't you need two hands? Or is there a technique I'm missing? (there probably is xD)
I saw your post to Fuzzy about loom bands, and I don't think it's a brand thing I think it's that just the nature of that type of material
Remember those rubber bracelets that were really popular in the mid 00s? started with LiveStrong and then a bunch of other places started making them too, and it was cool to have a whole wrist full of them? I have a bunch that have totally degraded and got all sticky and awful, it's just that type of rubber

@Ruby: You probably do, lemme grab the links off my phone!
Square Sliding Knot v1, Square Sliding Knot v2
Simple Sliding Knot
Barrel Sliding Knot
I think part of the reason I didn't do the braid thing is some of the styles I was making didn't have enough strands to braid.
I'd love to see how you tie your bracelets!

@Lina: Jewellery modification sounds really fun! Nothing wrong with beads on elastic, there's definitely some talent in choosing the colours, shapes and styles of the beads, deciding the order to string them in, etc.
Tiny dolly chainmaille is really fun, but it can also be fiddly and frustrating. I'm limited in the ring sizes that are available for that scale, and so that limits the number of different patterns I can do. At least I have a few options for colours, so that lets me change things up a bit ♥
I googled, and it says "more yarn is used in crochet than knitting, for a comparable project", but I think it also depends on what knitting stitch is being used. I wouldn't be surprised if the double stockinette I'm doing takes more yarn than a single stockinette.
I think knitting is kind of the same? Everything is either a modified knit or modified purl? IDK, I'm not deep enough into it yet xD
Most of my attempts at macrame have been with yarn so far, cause I find it easier to learn with bigger string. I did one diagonal striped bracelet that reminded me of a bookmark when I was done, but I think it's too thick to actually be used in a book. I'd like to get back into it, because I do wanna try some of those pretty designs with spaces.
Tiny looms sound amazing! Weaving is really fun and relaxing, I'm just lazy with colour changes xD maybe I should build a tiny loom on cardboard and get weaving again, just to keep my hands busy!
I wanna get into cross stitch because I love the idea of IRL pixel art, haha. Doing a retro game screen would be really fun, or a loading scene would be cool! I can totally imagine doing a series of those! I wanna do a bunch of stuff with it, Pokemon sprites, Stardew Valley sprites, probably some retro video game stuff too.
Ohh, mandala colouring book, so pretty! If my mom was actually colouring in all the colouring books she's picked up I'd get it for her! We're in the (slow) process of trying to do a purge, so I'm trying not to bring in anything new at the moment, but I really appreciate the offer!
I'd still love to see the sacred geometry stuff whenever you have a chance =D ♥

@Ruby: There's a style I've seen with sliding knots that I wanna try, and another one with a short piece of square knots over the two ends so they slide within the square knot.
I found a couple of tutorials, will share them later because switching tabs and copying and coding is a pain on mobile haha
I want to make sure I can put my bracelet on if there's no one else around, and I don't trust that a metal clasp won't fail (not to mention I react to some metal clasps).
This actually gives me another really good reason to get a little tripod for my phone, so we can do vid calls or record ourselves trying stuff and then share with the other for help ^^
I have a hemp bracelet a friend made me with a big loop at one end and a big knot at the other. That one is hard to get on by myself too

That's incredible!
It's so pretty I don't think I'd be able to eat it, but also I kinda wanna know how it would look covered in chocolate 🤔
I don't think I have any particular talents with food, other than eating it? XD

@FUZZY: Aww, that sounds lovely! I hope your daughter is having fun with it! ♥
What kind of crafts do they do?
@Ruby: I feel like crochet might one of those things we'd need to video chat for, or do in person (someday!!!). I'm not sure how well we could do macrame at a distance either, hmmm.
The biggest struggle I have with friendship bracelets is how long should my cord be and how much do I leave for making a way to "clasp" the bracelet. I think I need to go back and look at the square knot tut I saw
I attempted knitting first, so that might be why my brain is accepting it better? I'm sure crochet will click, it's just a matter of finding the right tutorial
