Also took me 8 crates to get the rare, the most it has taken me in awhile, usually I get it by my 4th-6th one >.<

Buuut now I have 4 spare en gardes ad 2 spare ruffians for the charity XD

With orbs it is chance but with the crates you choose which item you want then you have the chance to get the rare in addition :3
