My laptop is essentially a potato with a couple of wires and diodes sticking out.

I use Firefox, because chrome is too much for it to handle and runs very slowly.
Haven't tried the new Edge yet.
@Totalanimefan: I suppose I could, but i just don't think it's fair that I should have to wear earplugs just to be able to tolerate being in my own home during the children and dog's outside hours :/
I live in an apartment building that shares a yard with some other apartment buildings. I'm guessing we're 30 apartments total, all with porches facing the yard.
I live in the first floor, which means there's a large paved area right beneath my porch.

A lot of the other apartments house families with children, and this is where the trouble begins. The children play outside in the yad and the paved area for up to 8 hours a day.
Now, I am aware that children can't always control their voices and can't help being loud. But the parents just stand there and watch, even when the kids scream their lungs out.
if this was for an hour a day, I wouldn't mind.

But is it too much of me to ask that they tell their kids to stop screaming when the kids scream roughly 8 hours a day?

I'm just saying, my mother has 4 kids and she managed to teach us to be mindful of our surroundings without hindering our sense of freedom.
Again, I'm not saying kids shouldn't be allowed to play and have fun, but I find it very rude that these parents do nothing to teach their kids to be mindful of their surroundings.

Another issue is that a lot of these apartments house dogs. I get it, dogs bark. But if your dog barks for 12 hours straight, is it too much to ask that you don't keep it on the porch? That you try to train that behaviour away or otherwise stimulate your dog so it doesn't get bored and bark for no reason?

I just feel like if people won't even do basic training with their pets/kids, they shouldn't have them.
And I get that when you live in an apartment, you have to tolerate some noise.

What I don't get is the blatant disrespect for other people these people are showing by allowing their kids and dogs to make incessant noise for sometimes up to 12 hours straight.

am I just being a grumpy old man here?

Is a little peace and quiet too much to ask?

My dad. We have always been close, and now I see him maybe once a year because we live a day's journey apart.

Hey! What are your plans for today?
I'm working atm, and later I will be doing daily exercises to strengthen my muscles and lose weight. Right now I'm sipping coffee and waiting for customers, although I'm considering taking a smoke break.

- The weather is great
- My coffee tastes good and I have plenty of it
- It's a scandinavian holiday, so the support line I'm working is quiet, which means a lighter workload
- I have plenty of cigarettes, and I'm about to light one up just for the heck of it

Confession: I am going down in my medicine dose to conserve the medicine I have left until the psych I'm seeing in June gives me a new prescription. She says she can't give me the meds I'm currently on, so I'll have to switch. I'm worried about lethargy and weight gain, and I'm worried I'll go psychotic like I've done the other times I've switched.
I'm also worried I'll go psychotic from the decreased dose, but I don't see any other option at this point.

Part of me just wants to get off meds all together, but my last attempt gave me a month in the psych ward, so I know that's not a viable option.
I'm just so frustrated with the whole situation. I'm sick of side effects and feeling bad if I miss a dose, I'm sick of spending tons of money on stupid pills, and I'm sick of not being able to hold my shit together if I don't get meds.

@sunny: That's a good idea, actually. Thanks, I'll try that! :D

@sunny: Not muchm a couple of chapters. I have the idea for the general story and characters in my head, I'm just having some trouble fleshing it out.

Hey guys, sorry it took so long to reply.
It's a sci-fi story with some romance components. I can't say too much without giving it away, but the first chapter starts with the main character running away from home, terrified of being found. There's also mentions of her parents giving her "treatments". She's found by a group of indigenous people, and the story is also a bit about them and their culture.

I don't feel like you were in the wrong at all. But. Some people are willing to go a long way in the name of political correctness, and it can be quite annoying. Sometimes I have enough of it and end up distancing myself from them.
I sometimes say borderline insensitive things, but it's in good spirits and I don't mean to offend anyone. (ie closed group of friends calling each other retards), and it can really put a damper on the mood if someone comes in and is like "uhm, you shouldn't use that, it's derogatory and triggering" over every non-correct word.

I also have a zero tolerance for transphobia and outright racism (although I do enjoy a good "isis are goat fuckers" meme), and I have yeeted people from my life for continuing to post racist things. But I still feel like sometimes I have to choose my battles, and not let every little injustice turn into a big fight.

I have a very PC friend who never backs down from those battles and pummels you with "facts" until your head spins, and he's just so annoying to be around sometimes, because I feel like I can't let my guard down and make silly jokes or comments.

Again, not trying to say you are like that, or call you annoying. And it was not cool of your "friends" to let their friends berate you for trying to do the right thing.

All I'm saying is, sometimes people have had it with being corrected when they might not have meant any harm.

Stardew Valley is laptop friendly and absolutely adorable.
I also used to enjoy playing the Diner Dash games, I torrented the full collection once and spent hours just nerding it
