@totalanimefan: That's true, but I think is a culture thing too. Filipino foods are not overall healthy and we love our rice too much =w=;

True, families can be toxic but is nice to have some that are not.

@Totalanimefan: I don't have much relatives on my father side but they are less chaotic as well. Most of them died due to some hereditary health issues. Heart attacks are very common on my father's side.
*gives you a pat in the shoulder* Just treasure the memories you have them while you still living on this giant rock. They sound like a very lovely couple.

@Totalanimefan: Awe I wish I have grandparents like that. I don't know mines very well especially my grandma since there's a language barrier the last time I met her before she died. My relatives are spread out as well, most are back home in the Philippines, some move to America in California and I have one relative down on Vancouver. I have distant relatives that lives nearby and we used to celebrate holidays together when we were newly immigrants but we lost touch in them now. So is just me and my family on holidays which is much better than spending alone.
Plus my mother's side of the family are a bit... chaotic to be with.

I think for Canadians roast beef is more popular around this time.
