@Eruca: I believe it was just a warning of how things might go wrong when you tell your family. Some people might be too young or inexperienced to expect that kind of consequence. Nobody wants more homeless kids on the streets. From my view the intention was not really being nosy, just advising caution from a person who cares and maybe has some personal experience on the issue. In my opinion it is still on topic.

I agree with SirLionelConrad.
You might not want to hear this right now but I am sure it all comes from a place of love. Try not to be too harsh on them. Some people just can't help caring and worrying about you like parents.
With friends it also feels really crappy to be helpless when your friend is suffering so you try to give as best advice as you can. They probably don't mean anything bad by it.
