Most people believe in the reaper that comes when people die, they forget about the reapers that have the job of coming for other life forms. Mizuie is in charge of the bats. It's a hard job, especially when there are heat waves that take large populations at once. It's a spiteful job when people kill the poor creatures just for existing. But someone has to do it.

Jason froze with a bite of food halfway in his mouth. His parents. He hadn't thought about the reaction of his parents. Fear flickered across his face as he panicked.
So far he's gotten away with the friendship because they didn't know or care enough about him. But dating was an entirely different story. His face went even paler than it already was. "My parents will kill me." He choked out, staring down at his plate of food and finally lowering the fork back down. He tried to crack a smile and a halfhearted joke, "if I don't return after Christmas break send for my parents arrest because I'll be dead after having told them about you. "
