"Mmhmm." Azazel replied.

"Later, Jake!" he said to the guard.

"Yup." Jake responded, going back to his paper.

Azazel and Gabrielle proceeded to make their way through the hallways, making small talk along the way, before they reached the secretary's office which served as a waiting area for Hal's office.

"And here we are." Azazel said.

"Nervous?" he asked Gabrielle.

Gabrielle was silent for a moment, seeming to be thinking that over, before beaming.

"Not at all!" She answered.

"I know you can get me the position if I completely bomb it." She commented with a laugh.

Azazel just rolled his eyes.

"Oh, for sure." he replied.

"I WILL make sure you get this job." he then told her, a small hint of seriousness to his tone, which... would have been odd for those that had really known him. He normally wasn't one to pull strings THAT far, or much such a certain statement.

"Anyway, I need to head off." he said.

"Later." he finished.

He then left, and Gabrielle sat and waited, until the secretary got her attention.

"Mister Sharp will see you now." she told her.

As Azazel left, Gabrielle just smirked slightly. It was barely visible, and it only lasted a second before she managed to banish it, as she realised that she needed to maintain a 'proper' appearance.

When she was told she could step in, she smiled, thanked them, and did so.

Hal beckoned for her to close the door, and she did so before taking the proffered seat.

"Thank you so much for this." She said, her voice grateful.

"So I see you're applying for the newly opening position of receptionist for R&D." he then commented.

"I could ask about your qualifications, but your resume speaks for itself." he went on.

"Let's talk about you." he said further.

"What are your personal goals for the future?" he asked.

Gebrielle paused a moment, seeming to be thinking about how to answe that.

"Well, immediately, my future goals are to get out of the shoebox I call an apartment." She answered with a light laugh.

"Beyond that, I'm... not entirely sure, admittedly." She told him.

"I've never been one to make longterm goals, never truly had a chance to do that."

"I'm a very ... lowkey, I suppose, conduit." Gabrielle answered.

"Used to be stronger, but my soulw as essnetially ripped from my mortal shell." She continued, "and as a result, I basically reside on both planes. Thus giving me, as you put it, an interesting voice."

"Whether I am a good fit or not isn't something that I can directly comment on. I can say that I would not be entirely out of place, however."

'...that is fascinating." Hal responded.

"And yes, that is true." he chuckled.

The interview continued, and Hal stood up at the end.

"Thank you for your time." he told her.

"I have several other interviews to conduct, but we will let you know by the end of the week if you have the position or not." he continued.

"Shall I escort you to the exit, Miss Burton?" he offered.

Gabrielle got to her feet with a smile.

"Please, call me Brie." She said with a light laugh.

"It's much less formal." She added before pausing.

"And an escort would be lovely. I would hate to get in the way of your time though."

Hal raised his hand.

"Not at all." he replied.

"I can certainly spare the time." he told her.

With that, the two of them made their way to the security landing, where Hal parted from her and disappeared back into the building.

Jake looked at her briefly.

"Not to get your hopes up..." he muttered.

"But the boss looks pleased. I'd say you aced the interview." he told her.

Brie was silent for a moment.

"Really." She said before chuckling.

"I certainly hope you're right. Everything that I've heard about this place, from Az of course, has been amazing. I'm sure this would be a lovely place to work." She paused here before shrugging.

"However, if I don't get it, I get the feeling that I'll at least receive a few suggestions of other places to apply. Which would be fantastic." She didn't specify who she was saying that she would receive that from, but it would be easy to assume that it was from her friend, Azazel.

"Very possible." he said.

-A few days later-

It was at 10 in the morning that Brie received a call... from The Unit.

"Is this Gabrielle Burton?" the female on the other end asked.

"It is." Brie replied.

"Are you free to drop by The Unit today?" they asked.

"The sooner, the better."

"Oh, of course! I can be there in about thirty minutes, if that works?" She asked, her smirk all but invisible in her voice.

"I may be able to get there quicker, depending on the transit system, but I make no guarantees."

"I'll let security know you're coming." they told her.

"Just have the guard notify Mister Sharp when you arrive." they finished.

Sure enough, she was there in about 30 minutes, and Jake looked at her.

"Ah, you're here." he said.

"Do you need an escort?" he asked her.

"Might be good. Ithink I know the way, but I'm not entirely sure." Brie admitted.

"Also, I was told to have you notify Mr. Sharp of my arrival... As pretentious and narcissistic as that sounds." She added after a moment or two.

"I... Hmm,i would have to be an imposition. Do you happen to have a map? I could make my way there with one rather easily, I'm sure."

"It's merely so the boss knows to expect you." Jake replied.

"And if you think you can make it on your own, just press one of the blue panels on the walls here." he then told her.

"It'll bring up a 3D map of the place, and you can ask for directions to where you're going." he went on.

"If you still get lost, press the red button next to the panel." he continued.

"Anyway..." he continued, buzzing her in.

"I'll let him know you're on your way."

Brie just chuckled lightly.

"That certainly makes it easier." She commented before stepping through the door.

"Thank you, and I shall see you later." was the last thing she said before heading off. Sure enough, she did manage to make it to the room in question with only a couple wrong turns. Overall, she made it in good time.

When she was beckoned to enter the office proper, she smiled softly, closing the door behind her.

"Hello again." She greeted

"Hello." he greeted her.

"After a number of interviews, I am contacting everyone that has applied for this job." he told her.

"...and I'm sure you can guess where this is going, considering you have been asked in." he then added.

"Congratulations." he said.

"You've got the job." he told her, extending his hand.

"How hard did Azazel have to beg for me to get it?" She asked, her tone both curious, and sounding as if she was just an old friend of the demons and asking in jest."[/b]
