Sure enough, she was there before him. But she was only waiting for another 15 minutes or so, before the man himself showed up.

"Oh, Aedan." he greeted her.

"I shouldn't be surprised you're here early." he chuckled. He then stopped, however, when he saw her expression.

"You look like something's weighing on your mind." he commented.

"Shall we talk inside my office?"

"Lead the way, Boss." Aedan said wit a sigh.

After they were in and at least moderately comfortable, she sighed again, heavily.

"Something's going on with Az, and I have no idea what it is." She told him honestly, plainly, and bluntly.

"Can you be more specific?" Hal asked, a concerned look across his features.

"He bailed on Erica last night, and didn't seem to be bothered by it when I brought it up before I left." She told him.

"...." Hal seemed to be stunned as he heard that.

"I..." he muttered.

"That... certainly does not sound like Azazel." he commented.

"Such an action is not characteristic of him, and such a reaction to being confronted about it is certainly even more alarming." he went on.

"Haven you noticed anything else?" he asked her.

"Granted, that alone is enough to raise some warning flags, but are there any more incidents?"

"Plenty of little thing." Aedan answered.

"And... I mean a lot. But they are, they're just little things that are super easy to sweep under the rug and forget about." She added after a moment or two.

"Like... he stopped having breakfast ready for Cain on the nights he doesn't sleep." She added. "It's only been a few mornings, and it's not a huge deal, but it is agains tthe standard."

"You're right, little things that would be unnoticeable, or easily dismissed." he said.

"But aggregate them together, and you get some concern." he reasoned.

"And this incident with Erica? That's just not right." he went on.

"What could it be, do you think?" he asked her.

"Any ideas?" he asked further.

"That's just it. I have no idea." Aedan admitted.

"I've never known him to brush Erica off. I know that he's been going over there every few nights to give her a chance to sleep, to offer her some comfort." She added, not knowing whether or not Hal knew the status of Erica.

"I just..." She sighed, heavily.

"If I'm being honest, I'm worried that it's going to get to the point that he doesn't care about Cain." She then said. "I can handle him not caring about me, but Cain? That's a different story."

"From my standpoint, Erica's his best friend. To brush her off like that, it's alarming."

"Yes, I understand." he said.

"I'll seriously look into this." he told her.

"This is something that I cannot afford to gloss over. For Azazel's sake, as well as Erica's." he reasoned.

He then sighed, and shook his head.

"Urgh." he grumbled.

"I TRULY hope there's a simple explanation for this." he muttered. "But I've been through enough never to assume it's anything benign." he lamented.

". .. You and me both." She commented, quietly.

"Just... you and me both." She then paused before sighing, again.

"You should check in on Erica." She then said. "Since I'm not going to do it - she doesn't know me, and I ... question whether or not Az will."

"I shall do so." he told her.

"In fact, I shall do so immediately." he said further.

"Now then... is there anything else?" he asked.

"Anything more you wish to discuss with me?" he asked further.

"If so, now's the time to say it." he reasoned.

"Otherwise, when I say I will check on her immediately, I DO mean that." he finished.

Aedan merely shook her head.

"No. Nothing else." She said simply.

"go on, take care of Erica nad anything else you need. I'm going to go and make sure that I'm good to go." She said. After he'd bid her farewell, she took off, leaving him be.

As soon as she left, he disappeared from where he was, appearing in the backyard of Erica's place. He had no time to keep up looks or formalities, he was worried about how she was doing now.

He quickly made his way to the front door and rang the bell.

"Erica?" he called in.

"It's me, Hal Sharp!" he said further.

"......" he was then silent, and slightly bit his lip.

'She wasn't doing the best the last time I saw her.' he thought. 'PLEASE let her still be doing at least SOMEWHAT okay...'

He was left waiting for a bit, long enough that he was about to debate heading in, himself, when the door opened. He saw Erica as she saw him, before stepping aside. It wasn't until he stepped in properly that he saw her.

He was used to seeing sleep deprivation on someone. One of his employees barely slept, but Erica looked.... well, to say she did not look good would be understating it.

"Hello." She said as she closed the door, the life that he'd heard from her previously seeming to be squahsed down by soemthing else. Wouldn't be hard to guess what it was, either.

She also looked thinner than last time he saw her, too.

"Nothing." was her answer.

"Would you like something to drink? Snacks?" She asked, seeming ot be brushing his concern aside, as if it didn't matter.

"I... well, a water, I guess?" he said, before shaking his head.

"Erica, are you all right?" he asked.

"You look... worse." he said further.

"It can't be nothing... can it?" he asked her.

"Bottled or filtered?" She called, wodnering what he prefered, if any.

"....bottled..." Hal mumbled.

"And yeah, I know..." he said.

"Wasn't Azazel helping with that?" he then asked.

"Wasn't he coming around every third day or so to be with you so you could sleep more soundly?" he asked further.

"Is that not helping?" he asked her.

He knew about the problem, given what Aedan had said, but he wanted to know what Erica would say about it. How she would respond.

As Hal reached the kitchen, he saw her dig out a btotle of water from the bottom of her fridge, but there was more than just that. As she bent over, he had a clear view of her backside, of course, but what drew his eye was the slight marking that he saw on her side as her shirt fell out of the way of her. A marking that he didn't have on the physical records of her.

"Here." She said as she straightened up, closed the fridge, and passed it over to him.

"I never thought you were one to make house calls for no reason." She added after a couple of seconds.

Hal was stunned for a moment, frozen abut the marking he swore he saw.

He then shook his head and accepted the water.

"Well... we might not be friends, but I DO care about you..." he told her.

"And I wanted to check up on you." he said.

"See how you were doing. See how the recovery process is going."

"Right.. I.." She paused a moment.

"Honestrly, I couldn't even tell you." Sh admitted.

"I just... I don't know. Everything's been a bit of a blur lately."
