It was about here that Aedan decided to fight back. She managed to elbow him, as he didn't have her arms too tight, before getting a few feet in front of him and turning to face him.

"Azazel, I'll cooperate if you tell me what the fuck is going on." She told him plainly, bluntly.

"You know I'm a woman of my word, too." She added, wondering if he would give her any information or not.

Azazel looked like he was ready to attack, but then sighed.

"I..." he started to say, before flinching.

"I..." he repeated.

"No!" he then exclaimed.

"If I talk, she'll get in trouble!" he told her.

"She's had a hard life! I just got her that job at the Unit!" he said further.

Now, while he hadn't said anything specific about who it was... Aedan could guess who he was referring to.

"You're... talking about that girl with like... 8 different souls, aren't you?" She asked after a moment, not realising that she'd given him a direct reason to shut her up for the moment, even if he didn't realise it.

"I've been meaning to ask you, where did you meet her, anyway?" She asked, her voice curious.

"We met online." he told her.

"A social forum that had it's own IM service. Just went from there." he continued.

"Why?" he asked.

"You went to bat for her with Hal." She continued, "yet anytime I've asked you about much regarding her, you've shut me down in one way or another."

"Did you know she's got multiple personalities? Probably in the most literal of senses."

"I told you what was going on." he told her, knowing she'd know where he was going with that.

"I know what that is. What the hell is with the 'literally' comment?" he asked her, a hint of himself in his voice again.

"I mean what I said. The girl with multiple souls." She repeated.

"You're a demon. You can't be serious in telling me that you didn't know that." She added with a sigh.

Again, it seemed like he was in a war with himself inside.

"And something tells me that Hal isn't aware." Aedan commented, seeming to be continuing a thought.

"Which is... really not good." She added. 'That probably should be. Then again, it's obviously being hidden, since I already commented abotu knowing she has multiple souls, yet you played it up as just a run of the mill mental condition." She told him.

"So what's going on? I'd ask if we could trust her, but if you're working with her, then that's a redundant and pointless question to ask you. So I'll ask this.

"What the hell is your end goal?"

Her last question/allusion/accusation caused him to 'snap'.

He then lunged for her, tackling her down to the floor.

"Shut up!" he yelled.

"I will defend her! I will protect her!" he told her.

"The future is in her hands!" he then said, though it seemed more... preprogrammed than anything else.

Aedan hit the ground hard. She was sure that if she wasn't already dead, that would have made her see stars.

"The fuck you on about?" She asked with a bit of a snarl to her voice before shoving him off of her, mostly only succeeding because he hadn't expected it.

"Like, seriously." She added. "Az, this isn't you." She knew that she'd have to be on her guard though, as she realised that this was not the demon she loved any longer. She just hoped this wasn't a permanent change, raelly.

And waht about their son? She hoped Cain was faring all right.

"Why are you so desperately trying to protect 'her'?" She continued.

"Who the hell is 'her'?" She knew she was toeing the line here, but she wanted answers.

If she could get answers, she'd try and get her ass out of there to tell someone, anyone, that could help.

No sooner had she finished her final thought, did she realise that Azazel's demonic mana had seeped out from his feet and was starting to circle around her.

He had made his move.

"You are asking... a lot." he said.

"I am protecting her because I must." he told her.

"That is all." he said.

"The future is in her hands." he repeated.

"I will be a tool to help her usher the future in."

Aedan was silent before looking around her, at the mana that was encircling her. It was times like this that she wished she had active mana, not just the abiliuty to use the mana in the air for her alchemy.

Instead of trying to run, she just pulled her phone out of her pocket and sent a quick text to the first person she saw in her contact list, which was Vincent as they had been talking earlier in the day.

If this sends. HELP. was all it said before she looked to Az, and hit send. The question was whether it would send or not, or if Az would break her phone before it could.

As soon as she hit the 'send' button, Azazel threw an orb of mana at it, knocking it out of her hand and smashing it into pieces.

"....." he was silent as he did this, and glared at her.

"....Aedan, why?" he asked.

"Why are you doing this?" he asked her.

"....it's futile." he said, his expression softer, as a few tears trickled down his cheeks.

"You can't stop it. I can't stop it." he went on.

"Nobody can." he said further.

"The gears are already in motion, and her tendrils are everywhere, in every crevice."

Aedan was completely silent as her phone was knocked out of her hands, and she felt the pain from his mana hitting her hand. She didn't let it show though.

"Az... fight it off." she said after a moment.

"Please. You're stronger than this." She added, not showing him the fear he likely wanted to see.

She could see the mana was starting to encase her, but it was weak in places.

He was trying. He was honestly now at war with himself.

And that was when Cain showed up.

"Woah!" he exclaimed.

"What the...!?" he started to ask, before something hit him.

"....no..." he whispered, seeing the mana.
