She managed to make it over towards Adym before any of the spiders could get close, and the guardian was thrashing about... and Adym did NOT look to be in the best of shapes.

He'd landed pretty awkwardly, and that was shown in his shoulder, and head.

His right arm was pretty limp from the shoulder down, so it was easy to guess he'd either broken it or dislocated it... or both. And he was bleeding from his head, meaning there was a split under his hair somewhere.

And he wasn't responding to Callie at all. He was still breathing, but he wasn't responding to her, meaning he was obviously unconscious.

That's when a second group of smaller spiders launched themselves towards her... with one of them sneaking up behind her.

Callie didn't notice the one that was sneaking up behind her. However, she did see the others, and without thinking about it, there was a frigid air that spread across the room.

"No." She stated simply before grabbing Adym's bow and a couple of arrows. She cocked them both on the drawstring, pulled it back and took aim. Before the guardian could even attempt to properly get on it's feet again, Callie was ready.

She studied the giant arachnid, knowing that the small ones wouldn't come near her with how cold she was keeping the immediate area around her.

She watched to give the guardian a chance, before doing anything though.

The guardian managed to right itself from its thrashing, and then just started to charge right towards Callie and Adym. However, just as Callie was ready to let loose with an arrow, she noticed that it was slowing down.

Was it from the cold? Or something else?

It then just slowed right to a stop, as it towered above them and looked down at the two of them in silence.

Then, without warning, it slowly bent its legs and brought itself down to its stomach, its one good eye looking right at Callie.

Even though Callie wasn't the Nature Crux, she could tell it was trying to tell her something;

Callie followed it with the arrow, but didn't fire. As it came to her level, she just sighed.

".... The only way I can is to kill you." She told the spider plainly.

"I'm sorry, but... I don't know of any other way." she added. She gave it a chance to say or do anything, before letting the twin arrows fly, hoping for a quick death.

The large arachnid seemed to understand her, and when the twin arrows went flying, it opened its gaping maw, and she saw horrifying teeth and fangs inside. The arrows disappeared into the blackness of its mouth, before she heard a sickening sound of the arrows hitting... something.

Then the guardian collapsed.

Utterly and outright.

As it did, the hoards of smaller spiders cried out in a cacophony of screeches and high-pitched noises, seemingly grieving for their guardian's death.

However, before she saw the life leave the one eye it had left, the guardian lifted one of its legs, and extended it outwards... as though it were pointing in a direction.

Up. Up and over a little.

Then, it collapsed and finally died... its entire body going limp.

Callie was silent as she witnessed everything, before sighing lightly.

"I ... really hope you can find peace now." She said quietly before looking to Adym. She didn't know how he was doing, but as she checked and found he was still breathing, and still had a pulse, she relaxed a bit and looked around, before looking up to where the guardian had pointed. She had no idea what it was that she was to expect up there, but... she looked.

Honestly hoping to find an easy way out, though.

When she looked, she saw that it had mostly been pointing to the tunnel that it most likely used when it left its chamber... Adym had said that it wouldn't be a good idea to jump down it.

...but she DID have a way UP it.

Also, it had been pointing off to the side... was there something up there it wanted them to see?

Regardless, the only quick way out would be for them to rise through the tunnel, and see what it was the guardian was trying to say.

And at that point, she watched as the smaller spiders all started to cry out, and roll over on their backs, as, one by one, they all keeled over and died, their life-forces tied to the guardian's.

And then... it seemed like there was a smidgen of... something... left in the guardian, as its body let loose one more shudder, and she heard something... pop... from behind it, as though it had released something.

Callie jumped when she heard the pop, having been focusing on what it had been pointing to.

"what the hell was that!?" She exclaimed, knowing no one was there to answer that. She just shook her head before addressing Adym. She carefully got a feel for his shoulder, wondering what the hell was going on with it... but it didn't take long. She quickly found that it was dislocated - and she quickly popped it back into place while he was unconscious - and that he'd managed to break his clavicle pretty badly. She'd, of course, used her ice to support the bones that broke, so that she didn't make that damage worse.

Once she had him to a point where she could actually lift him onto her back. She couldn't before with his shoulder as it was. As soon as she had him up, she just sighed lightly before making her way to where the opening was. She couldn't see what had popped over the giant arachnid's carcass, but she wasn't too worrried about that. She knew taht once she was high enough up, she'd likely be able to see what it was.

As soon as she was below the opening, she used her ice to lifet herself, and Adym, on a platform. Her intention to just use her ice to get the hell out of there.

As she and Adym rose through the tunnel, she looked down and saw that an egg had come out of the guardian, and it looked... off. It was as though the corruption was still clinging to it...

But the egg disappeared from sight as they rose up into the tunnel, and exited the chamber.

And as soon as they did, she saw a fountain. A large stone, overgrown fountain.

And the water in it was... black. It looked disgusting.

Was this what the guardian had been gesturing to?

Was this the source of the corruption?

Callie was silent for a moment before smiling softly.

"That has to be the source." She commented before making her way over to the fountain. She carefully set Adym down on some grass before getting a good close look. She didn't know what the source would be, what she was looking for, where it was... she knew nothing.

Allshe knew, was that she had to try and find it, since this place did need to be purified.

The corruption would destroy it, she was sure.

When she got closer to the fountain, she could practically smell the corruption in it, and if she were to liken it to anything, it would mostly likely be festering meat. It was not pleasant.

However, she also noticed that the water was not actually black. It was more a very dark grey... to the point of almost being back, but the water itself was still vaguely translucent. She could see into it, and visually scan with her eyes.

It was then that she noticed 2 things.

The first was that the water was... deeper than she would have anticipated. It looked like she could step into it, and the water would be up to her waist... on the bottom tier, anyway. The levels that were higher were clearly more shallow, so the fountain itself was probably built INTO the ground. The second was that she noticed a straight black... lump... at the bottom of the lowest basin. It looked about the size of 2 bricks, and the water around it seemed to be... particularly nasty, in terms of smell.

Was THIS what was tainting everything? This one little... object?

Callie made her way over it, her hands on the edge of the fountain as she leaned over and looked into the depths. She didn't know what it was that she was supposed to do here, but her first thought was to try and grab it. However, it was a bit far out for that, and pretty deep. She knew this wouldn't be the best idea before sighing, and just shaking her head.

"If I dont' do it, no one else can for the moment." She muttered before gathering her nerves and climbing into the water. It was cold, and sharp, but she didn't think it was piercing her skin or anything, thankfully.

She made her way through to the lump and reached down to try and grab it.

As she reached down to try and grab the lump, she felt active resistance. Like some force was pushing her back. On top of that, the cold water that she was in felt like it was actively stinging at her nerves now... which was strange.

Wouldn't she be near-immune to cold?

However, she was still able to make headway, and when she grabbed it, and tried to lift it, it was surprisingly light. It was obviously heavy enough to sink in the water, but it was no significant task to pick it up.

However, when she touched it, it seemed like it hurt her.

Paradoxically, even though the water was icy cold, the object was hot. Extremely hot. As though she would be trying to lift a fresh molten rock.

Callie resisted the urge to drop it with a cry and just hefted it out of the water, throwing it onto the ground around the fountain. As it landed, to try and prevent the corruption from spreading, it was coated in some thick ice, before she went to crawl out of the fountain.

She hoped, she really hoped, that the ice would contain the corruption. She had no idea how to destroy it, and she was a bit scared to try for the moment, even. If it was destroyed, would it end up doing nothing more than just spread it farther, or wider? There was no way for her to know, and she didn't really want to find out.

As she reached the edge of the fountain, she noticed it was still not clear in there, it didn't look any different for that matter, but she figured that maybe it was a case of timing needed. She didnt' know.

What she did know, was that she couldn't collapse. The attacks on her nerves that were there felt vicious, but she knew she had to persevere.

Adym needed help, help she couldn't properly give him.

So she forced herself out of the fountain before making her way back over to him to make sure he was still doing all right.

Adym was still breathing, though it was a bit erratic... and he was still bleeding from his head wound.

And he was still unconscious.

The mass that she encased in ice seemed to be just as it was... though from what she could tell, the corruption wasn't spreading out from it. If nothing else, she had it contained at the very least.

That's when she felt the rumblings of the earth under her. It was slight... but it still felt like there was a minor earthquake happening.

Nothing came of it, though, but the water in the fountain started to clear. A little. It now looked a slightly less dark shade of grey.

But she still needed to worry about Adym. And the corrupting hunk she had encased with her.

Callie was silent as she looked to Adym, then to box of ice that she had in the distance.

"... what the hell am I to do with that?" She asked the air, knowing nothing could help her head. With a sigh, she just shook her head and just took her top off, revealing a tank top that really left nothing to the imagination barring the nude coloured bra that could be seen beneath it.

She then colleted some of the good greenery around that she knew and sighed lightly.

"I ... really hope this doesn't fuck him over." She muttered before doing what she could to bind his head, hoping that it would help.

Of course, the attack on her nerves, she could still feel, but her desperation to save the elf was overriding it for the moment.

Just as she finished binding his head, the lump in the ice started to shake and rattle. Violently. It almost threatened to break out of the ice, but from what she saw... it looked to just... dissipate. Which was to say, it looked like it went from a solid straight to a gas, and looked like it was slowly petering out and disappearing into nothingness. Whether that was from being removed from the water, or encased in her ice, she couldn't rightly say.

However, she did notice that the blackness that surrounded them seemed to just outright disappear.

Or, rather, she watched it shift into a thick fog. It still obscured her vision considerably, but the fog seemed more... natural. More benign.

And she noticed that the rain seemed to to have stopped, probably while the two of them were underground.

Callie was silent before looking up at the caonpy she could barely make out through the fog above her.

"... well.... at least that'sd one now." She said quietly before shaking her head.

"Adym," she started, looking back to the unconscious elf, I need to get you back home."[/b] Was all she said before hefting him onto her back again, knowing that she couldn't use her ice over such a distance easily, and to her feet again before setting off.

She had no idea how far it was, but she hoped she'd be able to find her way to the elven village, somewhere that she hoped that Adym could get the help that he needed.

It took longer than she'd like to admit. She'd been hunting it out for about 52 hours by this point, had been avoiding sleeping and kept moving. She'd paused a few times in order to keep him ydrated, along with herself, but not much else. She couldn't, as she didn't know how close to death Adym was.

By the time she found the village, she was ready to drop and felt like she just needed to get some sleep, to recharge. she knew she'd be fine, however.

As she neared the entryway and stepped officially into the village, she looked around, hoping to find someone milling about that could point her in the right direction. She sure as hell didn't know where a medic would be. Of course, she looked a sight, and she was certainly hoping that they wouldn't turn her away because of that. Plus the fact that she'd ended up covering Adym with his cloak to avoid him getting too soaked when the rain started up again... well, they couldn't see he was an elf, or a crux, so it would make complete sense if they did turn her away.

A few seconds after she had stepped into village, a pair of elves approached. They were clad in hide armour, and wielded long spears. They crossed them in such a way to bar her path, and looked at her.

"..." they looked like they were about to say something, before one of them looked to have a flash of... recognition? Perhaps?

He turned and whispered something to his comrade, and they shared a brief interaction that she couldn't hear, before they uncrossed their spears.

"...enter." one of them said.

"The healer is in the hut with the darker roof." they said further.

They then stepped aside, and looked like they would not interact with her further, even if she tried.

Callie was silent, not entirely sure what it was that she was supposed to make of that greeting, but wasn't going to question it.

"Thank you." She said simply before heading off. She knew that Adym's care was more important for the moment, and there was no way that she could hope to think otherwise.

She made her way to the room in question, the odd awkward step as she went due to her exhaustion and nerve pain she was still feeling. It wasn't as bad as before, so she wasn't really worried about it, but it was enough that the odd step was not the nicest.

She made her way up to the door and knocked, wondering how they knew she was looking for a medic, as she wasn't aware of how much of a mess she looked, but also that Adym was covered by the cloak. It was possible he was easily mistaken for a pack if someone didn't look too closely possibly.
