Is that what's on the agenda for today at the store? Or are you doing a deep clean at home?
Sundays we do a deep clean at the store. Get it all nice for the week.
Gotcha, And that makes sense, except for maybe -if I had to guess- Sunday tends to be busier at the store than maybe Monday??
Not really. Sunday mornings are pretty quiet since a lot of folks are at church. We have an hour before we open to mop, sweep, dust, clean the glass displays, and vacuum.
Oh, that's not too bad. And yeah, since "going to church" isn't on my personal radar, I sometimes forget that it's a big "to do" for a lot of folks...
I also like to print all of what we'll need for the week on Sundays. Which the manager wants to turn into a Sunday duty for real. Lol it's just something I've been doing so we won't have to scramble during the week.
....it makes sense to keep a list... or several... of things you need to buy or do or whatever. IMO anyway. But good for you for doing it on your own and getting kuddos from the manager, who seems to recognize how important a simple thing like a list (or lists) can be.
I like to work smart. Do things ahead of time so I don't have to worry about it during the week. That way I have more time to deal with other stuff. They did offer me the 'safety captain' position at our store. Which does come with a pay increase. Because apparently I'm the most safety conscious. And it would help my manager out, so he doesn't have to try and do everything alone. I'm planning to accept the position.
Your approach is smart, imo, and good for you! Congrats!
... there's actually a role of "safety captain"??

Yes there is. And with the number of unsafe things happening at that store, I understand why it exists. Well in stores in general honestly. Sure there are OCSA guide lines, but sometimes people do unsafe things because it's the faster way to do stuff.
Yeah, I bet that there are a lot of little things that happen, or that can happen, that would make the working environment at a store like that (any store, but maybe more-so at a thrift store with the constant influx of weird donations, etc.) either significantly safer... or significantly more dangerous. It does make sense to have somebody be put in charge of keeping an eye out for obvious hazards. The predesignated title though, was a little bit of a surprise to me for some reason...
It sounds like a title you'd give to a little kid in first grade or something, like a hall monitor. XD
I am so freaking tired.

@Koah: Love your avatar, too!
@Hardcore Uvula: Awwww, thank you! <3 Our avatars are very different in style from your almost plague doctor one (which is nicely balanced, btw)!
@Koah: Thanks Koah! I like yours too - you seem to gravitate towards the reds and blacks a lot, and you always seem to make it work! <3
Good morning.
It's Day 3 of the New Year...
