He was stuck listening to the ring for longer than he may have thought ideal, before the phone was answered.

"Haven't heard from you for awhile." The womans voice echoed through the receiver.

"To what do I owe this pleasure?" She asked, her voice curious. She did like Rene, but it wasn't something that was too surprising. He'd helped her out with things in the past, and while she knew that he wasn't the best person out there, he wasn't the worst either.

Rene was silent for a moment, before sighing lightly, and smiling.

"Hey Hollie." he replied.

"Yeah. Been a while." he said.

"Listen, I have a question." he told her.

"Do you or Vincent have any sort of recollection of a mage or whomever that could manipulate and/or amplify emotions in others?" he asked.

"Maybe had some tendril-like markings on their body?"

Hollie was silent for a moment, thinking about the answer to that question.

"I.... can't, but... Vincent might." She said.

"Do you want me to have him stop by your place? Or what?"

"If he remembers something like that, then yes." Rene replied.

"I've... uh.. well..." he said further, before sighing deeply.

"Cutting to the chase, I've adopted a young girl with the abilities and markings I've described." he told her.

"And she has no idea how to control it." he went on.

"Neither do I." he lamented.

Hollie nodded.

"All right. I'll ask Vincent if he knows anything." She then said.

"I probably have records somewhere in the archives, for I KNOW that is something that has happened before, but there is so little known about it. It's about as rare as the discerning eye." She commented with a light sigh.

"If not rarer."

"Tell me about it." Rene said.

"She's tried to do research, but hasn't found much." he told her.

"I'VE done research, and haven't found much more." he admitted.

"But she really does need help." he sighed.

"And if Vincent can give her some, then that would be amazing."

"If I recall correctly, the one instance I can think of was... they're just a plain arcane based mana. No alignment." Hollie commented.

"But.. I know so little about that." She added with a light sigh.

"Regardless, I'll call Vincent adn see if I can find anything out, or send him your way."

"All right." Rene replied.

"Thank you." he said.

"I get the feeling that, if this goes unchecked for much longer, bad things will happen." he went on.

"To her, specifically." he clarified.

"She's been through too much to go down because of something like THIS."

"Very possibly." Hollie then said before sighing.

"At any rate, I will contact Vincent. Let me know if anything serious happens with her." After they'd said their goodbyes, Hollie hung up and dialed her brothers number, not entirely sure if he was home.

Rene hung up after Hollie did, and sighed.

"Guess I should start making food." he said quietly.

"Erica... I really hope you can be helped, and soon." he mumbled.

Meanwhile, a male sat at a desk, looking through some books, before his phone rang.

"Hm?" he mumbled, before answering it.

"Hello." he said into it, as he went back to the book he was flipping through.

"Vincent," Hollie's voice echoed through, "I need to know what rare abilities, or curses as some might explain it, you have any sort of knowledge or resources on. Because I've come across one that more information is necessary for the sake of a girl." It was straight tot he point and gave the information, well... most of it.

She knew that he would likely not be the most impressed with it being Rene, considering the medic's relations with his daughter.

Vincent was silent as he heard this.

"Very well." he replied.

"But fair warning, I have knowledge of... quite a few." he told her.

"Do you want me to list them all off now, or compile a list on paper and give it to you?" he asked.

"I've been around this globe a number of times, dear sister." he continued. "So there's not a lot that I don't know of." he then added.

Hollie just chuckled.

"I get that." She said.

"LKet's make it a lot shorter alist." She started.

"Markings on an arm, almost tendril like is what I was told, that can affect people's emotions."

There was silence on the other end for a moment.

"Good heavens..." he said.

"Right. I DO know about them." he told her.

"...met, maybe 2, in my entire life, but still..." he muttered.

"What do you wish me to do?" he asked her.

"Compile information? Help directly?" he asked further.

"Honestly, I'm not entirely sure if direct help is desired... but probably." Hollie answered.

"Rene called me about it." She told him plainly.

"He's taken in a girl who happens ot have that." She then said. "But he's worried about it getting out of hand, which makes sense. I don't know how old she is, but I know one of them that we've seen in the past... he was an emotionless being. There was nothing. It completely stripped him of any of his own, and I would hate to see that happen to someone else."

Vincent was silent again for a moment.

".....I see." he said, his tone flatter than before.

"Very well." he said further.

"A little girl being rendered a hollow shell is something that should be avoided at all costs." he reasoned.

"Tell me where she and Rene are." he told her.

"I'll go there."

Hollie paused a moment and Vincent could hear her rifling through a couple pages. After a few seconds she gave his address, having needed to look it up. She had the addresses for all of those that would be under her hjurisdiction, and since technically the adoption did go through the council to an extent, she had his address right easy.

"There you go." She said.

"I'm not sure if someone is h ome for the moment, but I would assume so since it was Rene's home phone on my display."

"Very well." Vincent replied.

"I shall gather what is necessary, and make my way there." he told her.

"...." he was then silent, before sighing lightly.

"Calder..." he said quietly.

"Hard to believe he's taken in someone like that." he said further.

"Didn't think he was the type."

"Nor did I."Hollie admitted.

"But alas, he has." She then said. "I think he took her in before he knew anything about what she could do though. I don't know details, but I don't see anyone taking in someone with abilities like that." She admitted.

"...neither do I." Vincent sighed.

"So I guess this is as good as it gets." he muttered.

"Sadly." he then added under his breath.

-Some hours later-

Erica and Rene had eaten their dinner, and she was back up in her room with Felix. She had just finished the book she'd been reading, and was cuddling with Felix, when she heard Rene's voice.

"Erica!" he called up.

"Could you come downstairs, please?" he asked.

"There's someone here who wants to meet you!"
