"Ah..." he stammered.

"Wow." he said.

"I... Dad's lucky that he even came back then, isn't he?" he asked.

"I mean, all I know about her, I've learned from Dad and Lilim... mostly Lilim... but from all I've heard, it's not good when Lilith decides she's going to say hello to someone." he went on.

"But at least he should be okay..." he then said.

"...why would Lilith attack Dad so suddenly, though?" he wondered aloud at the end.

"I'm... not so sure it was an attack. I think she was toying with him." Aedan commented.

"Apparently she wanted to tell him that Anya's in trouble." She added after a moment or two.

"While I don't really think you can trust that wench's word, I don't see why she would torment him with THAT instead of something regarding you or I." she told him.

"If she wanted a reaction.... saying something regarding you or I would be a better one, one would think."

"See if she's okay, or something? While Dad rejuvenates?" he asked further.

Aedan just sighed, heavily. It was out of concern, and that really wasn't hard to tell.

"Yeah, I was thinking someone should." She admitted.

"I know he's going to want to afterwards, regardless. But yeah, someone should." She paused a moment before smirking.,

"You want an excuse to go pop ion at her place?" She asked, a smirk on her face

And his face turned... well, a little darker. It was his form of 'blushing'.

It was no secret that he found Anya to be a very striking woman. And he was physically attracted to her.

Not that anything would happen at all.

But he DID love seeing her from time to time.

"I.... uh..." he stammered.

"Y-yeah, sure." he said.

"Want me to... go there now?" he asked her.

"Honestly, it miht be a good idea. Put your dad's mind at ease." She answered.

"Hell, chances are Jake'll be home and he can help assure that nothing is wrong." She added with a light laugh.

"R-right." he said.

"Right, yeah, I'll do that." he told her, getting up off the chair.

He paused for a moment and cleared his throat, seemingly grounding himself for a moment. He took a small breath, exhaled it slowly, and looked at what he was wearing.

"...I should probably change." he muttered.

"I can't show up wearing torn stay-at-home clothes." he reasoned to himself.

Cain froze up when she said that.

"M-mom!" he exclaimed.

"......" he was then silent, before shaking his head and heading off.

"Going to get changed!" he called to his now-laughing mother.

Hal just sighed as he sifted through the paperwork on his desk, before his buzzer rang.

"Yes?" he asked, pushing the button.

"Angela Edwards is here to speak with you." his receptionist replied.

"Send her in." Hal responded.

'Wonder what's going on...' he thought.

Angela sighed as she made her way in. She was cleaned up, but still looked a bt of a mess. She looked like she'd just spent the past two days solid working on something, or someone considering her position, and she had some blue stains on her clothing and in her hair, as well. She looked tired as could be, and there was definite concern there.

"Do you currently have Anya Averina as part of your contractors?" She asked after a moment, her voice sounding about as tired as she looked.

"I know that's a bit of an odd inquiry, but it's valid."

"....." Hal was silent for a moment.

He wasn't a fool. And he knew a lot about different species.

He was able to put a (potential) 1 and 1 together, and just sighed.

"No." he replied. "Not currently." he said.

"Why?" he asked. "Has something happened to her?" he asked further.

He could guess that yes, something HAD, but he knew better than to make assumptions based on guesses and obvservations at a time like this.

"And I need to know if I'm going to be transferring her out to one of the hospitals, instead of here, as she's not currently contracted to you." she added before sighing, heavily.

"It's... not good." She added.

"She's barely alive, and I don't know why."

"Regardless, barely alive?" he asked.

"That's alarming."

"I would like to say here, but... I honestly can't say for certain." Angela answered before sighing, agian.

"And... someone or something tried to kill her. Both heart and head attacks." she continued.

"Her torso was shredded, as well." She just ran a hand through her hair here before shaking her head lightly.

"I don't know what happened, nor do I now how to stop it from happening again."

"Those types of injuries, and to have the cause unknown is unnerving." he went on.

"However." he then said.

"I trust your judgement." he told her.

"If you think it's best for her to stay here, do so. I'll make sure the nightmare paperwork is sorted out and such." he went on.

"If you feel it's best for her to be transferred, start that up and I'll make sure to expedite the process as best I can." he continued.

"...what are her chances of survival?" he then asked her.

"Her chances.... well, about 40/60, in favour of her death." she answered.

"I ... haven't told Jake that yet, either. " She admitted.

Hal just pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Great..." he said.

"That's... ugh." he muttered.

"And I know it's pointless to ask if there's anything you can do to shift that number." he went on. "You're good, but not skilled in demonic care and medication." he continued.

"No real mortal is." he muttered further.

"If you feel she can get better care in a hospital, then transfer her." he then said.

"And... I'll tell Jake." he continued.

"I'm his oldest friend. He may take it better coming from myself." he reasoned.

"It's probably better that we keep her here. I do have some demons I can call on for help." Angela said.

"But... I'll have to give it some thought. I just... I honestly don't know." She added.

"Anyway... I just... needed to update you that we have someone not part of the Unit in our medwing." There was definite weight to her voice, and it wasn't hard to tell. She didn't like this, it was something that she hated doing, and being part of.

"That's the thing, I don't know." Angela admitted.

"Outside of just an outright wish for her survival." She added.

"Do it, if you ned you to know you can." Hal assured her. "I know you detest doing it, but also that it's perfectly all right when it is a matter of life or death." Angela just sighed in response, knowing he was right.

".... I wish I knew what it was that did this, so that I could properly treat her." She then said, her tone a bit begrudging, but he knew that it was just because she wasn't a huge fan of using him like this.
