Interesting. I guess it's one way to make a living. It would be too much hassle for me personally to do, but ...
... and then the other side of me gets almost upset at having one person wipe out the kids section to resell instead of letting the kids get the books at the lower prices...

Yeah. Whenever he comes in, I can promise that all of our C. S. Lewis books will be gone.

Oh wow - I haven't even thought of CS Lewis is a long time...

That's a shame, imo, that he wipes out the books like that. :3

Yeah. Sometimes we get kids coming in to find the very books he wipes out, and I always feel bad that they couldn't get them. We sell some of those books as low as 99 cents.

... because a thrift store bookshop is where one would go to find some of those books and not pay whatever inflated prices he ends up charging through his business.

Yep. Lol though during the Dr. Seuss stuff, he got to our store fast as fuck. Getting what he could before they were pulled.

I bet! Did your store pull the older books off the shelves... or was it going to?

We didn't have any of the bad ones, but we still pulled all of them. Held them in the back for a bit, then raised the price on them. Lol Goodwill is not above using that situation to make more money.

Oh no, I don't blame it. It too is a business and is subject to (or can take advantage of) the fluctuations on demand and availability...

I'll do it too. Like whenever something gets a Netflix show, I make a display of those things. Like when Bridgerton came out, lol I displayed those books so f-ing fast. And they sold very well.

Yep. Lol luckily my interest in pop culture has actually come in handy from time to time. Sometimes it doesn't work, but I'm so happy when it does.

Yes, I'm sure that can be quite rewarding to see your interest create something for others to then explore

I like to try and keep an eye on what's popular. Keep things fresh.

lol - there's that, and it plays in to your natural interests. I'm sure it helps the store sometimes too :3

It is funny that I bring a lot of my A-game to this part-time job. Using my experiences and the things I actually went to school for.

Life has a way of sending you down paths you could never anticipate, and the skills or talents you have learned over the years can come out and be useful in the strangest places and situations sometimes...

You sound happy, though, that you're able to apply your skills and knowledge to this job - when you weren't expecting to be able to

Heh who knew being a nerd would come in handy. I am happy though. Which really is all that matters. XD even though my coworkers really don't like being there.

There's a talent to being able to immerse yourself and enjoy (at least parts of) a job that you probably wouldn't have expected to be doing.

It sounds like your coworkers need a change of perspective... like "I'm happy to HAVE a job"...

Lol one of them likes to complain, really just to complain. Which is fine, I do that too. The other one, is just. Counting on better things later. Which is also fine. However sometimes they can be very annoying with their apathy.
