She just sighed lightly.

"It doesn't matter, so long as he gets the information. I told you all I know." She assured him.

"If I hear anything else, I'll come and give that, but... sadly, I told you it was vague." She continued. "I couldn't even get a number, as in how many, or where, or anything."

"Now, I should head out so I ca---" She started before freezing. The entire foundation shook a little, which could have just been a small and short quake, but the fact that the woman in front of him sank to her knees, blood coming from her ears as she let out a cry of pain, said otherwise.

The guard looked around as the building shook, and sighed.

"Great..." he muttered. "Don't tell me that-" he started to say, before noticing the woman's ears were bleeding.

"...what the?" he asked.

"Hey, are you all right?" he asked her. "How... wait, what did you hear?" he asked further.

Of course, he wasn't considering the possibility that this person's ears were now utterly decimated and ruined, given that he knew what had just happened, and she wouldn't be able to hear him at all.

She was completely silent, her hands at her ears, pain in her face, posture, breaths... She didn't hear a thing he said, wasn't even aware of that for the moment. What she was entirely focused on and aware of, was the pain in her head, her ears.

Every sound, including her own breaths and heartbeat, just exacerbated the pain. If the guard realised how much pain she was in, it might be amazing that she hadn't been knocked out by it, considering it was in her head.

It was times like this, that she was very much hating her ears, but that wasn't too surprising.

The guard was silent for a moment, before sighing.

"Right." he said.

"Good thing I'm prepared for this." he muttered, reaching under the desk and pulling out a fist aid kit. He opened it and dug inside, before pulling out a cotton swab... but it was a light blue instead of the usual white.

He made his way to the young woman and tapped her on the shoulder. When she looked at him, he handed it to her.

"Gently swab the opening of your ears." he said, mouthing every word perfectly.

"It should help."

She was silent before taking what he offered. she really was not interested in sticking anything into her ears, as she didn't think it would be such a bright idea to shove something inside somewhere that hurt quite so much

As she accepted the swab, her hand was shaking rather severely, and it made it difficult for her to do what she'd been told to.

About five minutes later, she'd finally managed to do it, and noticed that things weren't as bad as they had been before. She still hurt, a lot, but it was at least tolerable, in the sense that she could actually forucs on anything else now.

"What... the fuck... was THAT!?" She half growled, half exclaimed, her pain still in her voice.

"I'm sorry." he apologised.

"I... well..." he stammered, before pausing.

"Wait, wait, hold on." he then said.

"I'll answer your question, if you answer mine. And mine is arguable a little more important, and directly related to YOUR question." he told her.

"HOW did you hear that?" he asked.

"And HOW did that cause your ears to bleed?"

"I have really good ears." was all she said as she carefully got to her feet.

"... nevermind. I might have an idea." She then said with a light sigh.

"Look, just... use the information I brought as you need to." She continued. "I'm going to get out of here before my head explodes."

He just pinched the bridge of his nose, and growled to himself.

"Uh-huh." he said.

"Yeah. Sure thing." he told her.

"Well, you may not want to give us any information about yourself, yet you seem to know enough about us, so I have no choice to but take your warning, as vague as it is, seriously... and hope this isn't some sort of grander plan you have." he muttered.

"One last thing." he went on.

"Odds are you're still hearing a faint buzzing. That'll go away in an hour or so." he informed her.

"If it doesn't, then... see a specialist if you're sure you know what did this." he finished, making his way back behind the desk and sitting down behind it once more.

"Sure I know what did this?" She asked, motioning to her ears.

"I have absolutely no CLUE what did this. You never answered me on that front." She then said.

"This? This I know hurts. This I know can't have been good. I know you apparently didn't hear a damned thing." She continued. "But I have NO idea what the hell happened, what did this" She continued.

"as for information about myself, sorry. But I'm not putting myself at risk like that. You have the information. Do with it what you will."

"And chances are you're right." he went on.

"Just know that if the buzzing continues after an hour or so, see someone that specialises in dealing with damage received from shrieks." he advised her.

"Because yes, I know what that was, even though I didn't hear it." he continued.

"It's infrequent, but I am prepared for any sort of contingency."

"All right, for clarity, I mean I realise that it would have been an attack, but I don't know the cause." She stated.

"What else would you do with a hunter in front of you?" She asked before starting to make her way to the door.

"I'm not going to hold this against you, as you have every right to not trust me. I'm just going to get out of here before you actually DO kill me." She told him as she reacted the door, pausing for a moment.

"... that's a really good line of defense, by the way."

"I intend to see if I can find out, but that had NOTHING to do with you." he continued.

"You just happened to be here at an unfortunate time."

"Most people might." he said. "So it's understandable why you'd think that way." he reasoned.

"However, I can tell you THIS much, a fair number of people, myself included, have had run-ins with hunters that are genuinely nice, and are on good terms with them." he assured her.

"Myself, I know Dominico Sherwood." he then said.

"Nice fella." he went on.

"And now that THAT'S out there, and I know what you are, what just happened was our resident banshee got stressed." he revealed.

"So. If you know someone that can treat that, see them if things don't clear up."

"Also, if more information is needed, I'm Jasmine and I run the Helscape bar a couple blocks east." She told him.

"Cool, good to know." he responded.

"Name's Jake." he told her, reciprocating the courtesy of a name.

"Anyway, get going." he then said.

"The sooner you're in a safe place where you can deal with that shit, the better." he reasoned.

Jasmine nodded before taking off, hoping to get home quick before her head got to be too bad. Thankfully, she really didn't love far.

She made it home within twenty minutes and just kicked off her shoes before making her way tot he couch, where she as good as collapsed on it.

"OW..." She muttered, not wanting to get up to get a drink so she could take what she'd been given.
