"All right then." Vincent responded.

"Good luck." he told her.

"And glad I could help." he finished.

He then waved his hand at her, and the next thing she knew, she was surrounded by a small tornado that obscured her vision... and when it died down, she found herself in her room.

It seemed like as long as Kelly herself was being teleported, the blade was along for the ride, and didn't interfere.

Why can't I just be

Kelly paused, checking herself over to make sure that she was all there, and hadn't lost anything in the transport, before looking to the blade.

"Huh. handy." She muttered before carefully setting it down on her bed and finding some proper clothes.

About fifteen minutes later, she was making her way upstairs, wondering if there was anyone home, and if her dad could possibly help. The blade needed.... well, she couldn't very well fly to San Diego with it hanging looseley like that, after all. Could she?

She was sure it wouldn't be a good idea.

"Hey Dad!?" she called into the house as she stepped onto the main floor

"No need to yell." she heard from the kitchen.

"I'm right here." her father said further. She made her way over, and saw that he was busy putting something in the oven, carefully making sure he didn't spill anything, before standing back up and closing the over door, dusting his hands off.

"There." he said.

"Now, then." he mumbled turning around.

"What's u-" he started to ask, before pausing and seeing her sword.

"...pretty sweet blade." he commented.

"Hey, I didn't know where you were." Kelly commented with a smirk before sighing lightly.

"And sweet? That's the understatement of the century." She added with a light laugh.

"any chance you have anything I can use as a way to hold this on my back without it potentially slicing me, or falling?" She asked. "Because I'm heading down to San Diego to ask someone about potential lessons to learn how to use it.... and I really don't want to lose it part way. That'd be bad."

Ash looked at the blade and thought for a moment.

"I have some thick cloth and some rope." he told her.

"You could wrap the blade in the cloth and then tie the rope around it. That should do." he reasoned, continuing to look at the sword.

"...damn, though..." he mumbled.

"Looks like there's more to that than meets the eye." he commented.

"Seems like you may have found yourself something extra special."

"... that could work. Safer way to carry it than just free like this." Kelly commented.

"And Dad, you have no idea." She added with a heavy sigh.

"Oh? Howso?" He asked. Kelly just met his gaze, smirking lightly.

"Turns out this blade is excalibur." She told him plainly, not reallky beating around it.

"..." Ash seemed to be stunned silent for a moment.

"...Excalibur." he said. "Like... King Arthur, Excalibur." he said further.

"Yep." Kelly confirmed.

"...holy crap." Ash muttered. "That's... and you're sure." he said.

"Confirmed earlier." Kelly told him.

"...Vincent?" Ash asked.

Kelly nodded.

"Well, he would know, I suppose." Ash admitted, scratching the back of his head.

"Hell of a find, then." he laughed.

"I'll say." Kelly commented with a laugh before stepping back and making sure the floor would deal with the incoming weight.

"Here, want to hold it?" She asked curiously. She knew that it would be very unlikely for him to be able to hold it, but she figured she might as well offer.

"Or at least try to."

Ash just shrugged.

"Sure." he said.

She then handed the blade off to him... and it crashed down to the floor, along with her father.

He let out a loud grunt when that happened, before trying to lift it up. With no success. None. No matter how hard he tried. Until he gave up and sat down on the floor right there and then.

"...geez." he muttered.

"Doubt even LINDSAY could lift that."

Kelly just bent over and picked the sword up with no effort.

"Doubt it." She agreed.

"This thing is... well, basically apparently, no one other than the chosen one or whatever can lift it." She told him.

"Well, that's really something." he said further. "To understate it." he added.

"Anyway, cloth and rope." he remembered.

"Should be some cloth in your Aunt's studio, and we should have rope downstairs somewhere." he told her.

"Got a preference for which one you're getting?"

About fifteen minutes later, she had the sword strapped to her back and was ready to head out.

"All right, now that I'm set, I'm taking off." She said simply.

"I'll call when I land, or text, or something." She assured him.

"You do that." Ash responded.

"It's a bit of a flight." he told her.

"Anyway, hope your trip to the Unit is a fruitful one." he wished her, before ruffling her hair.

"Bye, sweetie." he said. "Love you." he finished.

She could hear the little bit of concern and worry in his tone... but she knew why it was there. Evan and Sammy were still missing, and nothing had been found out. At all. It was getting to Lindsay and Casey, and even her own parents were starting to get really antsy over it.

Kelly just sighed lightly, before chuckling.

"Don't worry. Even if some cronies of some sort want to try and start shit with me, I've got Excalibur." She said with a smirk.

"Reasonably certain I'll be pretty damned safe for the moment. The sword repels mana, after all."

"anyway, I love you, and I'll see you later. I'll let you know when I land, just to assuage any fears or whatever." She paused a moment. "... I'll keep an eye out for the twins, too."

He was then silent for a bit of an awkward moment, before shaking his head.

"Anyway, get moving." he said.

"The sooner you head out, the sooner you get there." he reasoned, forcing a small smile on his face.

"Don't worry, I'll be all right." Kelly assured him before giving her father a hug, promising to relay anything she might possible hear or see regarding her cousins, and heading off.

It took a few hours, and that was an understatement, before she managed to get to San Diego. By the time she landed on the roof of the building, it was the next day due to having to stay the night in a motel. If she hadn't, she would have been arriving at some stupid hour where who she was looking for wouldn't be there, and she didn't want to bother him at home.

She jumped off of the roof, landing rather gracefully with her wings, before making her way inside. As she approached teh desk, her wings vanished.

"Yo. I'm Looking for Zeke, he in today?" She greeted

The guard didn't seem to move from behind his newspaper, and she heard a 'sst' sound.

"..." he was silent, before peering out from behind the paper.

"Depends." he said.

"Who's asking, and why?" he asked her.

He could sense there was something familiar about her... but at the same time, he was quite sure he'd never seen her before in his life.

"Do you have an appointment?" he asked.

"Is he expecting you?"

Kelly paused.

"... Ah, right, I probably should have called ahead." She muttered.

"Kelly Encrae, no I don't have an appointment, and no he isn't expecting me." She answered.

".... I think we've met.... like twice...." She added with a bit of a sheepish tone.

"However, I think he'd be quite interested in something I've come to be in possession of... andI wouldn't be surprised if he is already on his way here. Probably can feel it from wherever in the building he is... maybe."

The guard was silent again as she said what she did.

"...uh... huh." he said.

"Can I see some I.D?" he asked.

As she produced said I.D. and handed it to him, Zeke appeared from the other end of the security checkpoint.

"...the hell's going on here?" he muttered.

"Oh, wait... I know you, yeah?" he then asked Kelly.

"You were here... to see Kiah once or twice, right?"

Kelly paused before looking over to Zeke.

"Yo, angel boy." She said.

"You're exactly who I'm here to speak with." She added as she started to shift the blade on her back.

"I assume that you know this sword." She added as she pulled the sword out from the cloth prison it was contained within, pointing it at Zeke.

"I have no idea how to use this thing properly, was wondering if you wanted to teach me. I'm more than willing to pay whatever price you deem worth your time." She smirked slightly here, looking as smug as a dark elf normally would.

"And I'm a rather quick study."
