"...." again, Zeke was silent.

"Right..." he said.

"Right, I've heard that 'Merlin' was essentially a title given to a special mage." he remembered, before pausing again. "Supposedly one whose purpose was to guard the scabbard and lead it to Excalibur." he went on.

"Huh." he muttered.

"I admit, not sure what I was expecting, but... okay, I guess." he said further.

"I think she's on the level." he told Kelly.

"Of course I am." Caelia commented with a light chuckle.

"So... you're the mythical Merlin?" Kelly asked.

"That I am. I assume that you're the one that has been chosen." Caelia responded, motioning to the fact that Kelly was holding the blade.

"really wouldn't be holding it otherwise." She added.

".... TRue. What brings you here, anyway?" Kelly asked, a little bit of distrust to her voice, but overall she was curious.

"Ah, this." Caelia answered as she held the scabbard up a bit.

"The sword called to it." She added before tossing it over to Kelly, who caught it effeortlessly.

"Slip it in, and unlock the full power of Excalibur." She finished with. Kelly paused for only a couple of seconds before doing as she was told. When the sword clicked into place, there was a pulse of mana. It was strong, but there was... something mixed into it. It wasn't just the usual power boost that would naturally come from it.

Kelly sank to her knees, and Caelia just sighed before looking to Zeke.

"I'm sorry." She said him. "This is out of my control... I would never do this without outside influence, the sword is sacred and should never be abused as it's going to be." When Zeke looked to her, he saw the slight crimson ring around her pupils.

"She's gotten too well into my mana, and I can't fight her off.' was the last thing he heard before he felt his body and mana not working properly. He crumpled to the grassy ground, and Caelie looked over toward the trees she'd entered from.

"She's ready!" She called to the elf that had accompanied her. The mana that had been added to the scabbard made it that Kelly would listen to her companion, not her.

"N-no..." Zeke managed to get out, before he fell to the ground. His body wasn't working properly, his mana wasn't working properly, but the worst part was that he was still conscious.

He knew what was happening. He could see it.

He watched as a male wood elf emerged from the woods, and approached Kelly.

"Excellent." the newcomer laughed, before taking the cell phone out of his pocket.

"You." he told Kelly. "Stand. Now." he ordered. "And follow me." he then added, as he started to walk away from them.

"Madam will be CERTAINLY tickled to hear THIS bit of information." he laughed again.

Caelia looked over to Zeke, her expression apologetic, as Kelly did as she was told.

"I'm sorry." She said quietly. "She will be with family, at least. Her aunt and her cousins." She knew she was giving Zeke some crucial information, but didn't really care. It was something that she figured she say, hoping that maybe it would improve the trust in what she was saying? She didn't really think it would make a difference.

"Also, once our mana is gone.... you'll be all right to move. Your mana will be out of sorts for an hour or two, though." She added.

"Caelia!" The elf that had approached as well called. She looked over before looking to Zeke again.

"I am so sorry..." She said before hurrying off, knowing she couldnt' delay. She had enough of Vanessa's mana within her to be incapable of saying no, but there was no way that she was completely mindless. It was at that rather evil point, where she had some personality and control, but couldn't do anything she wasn't told to. She hated it, and she relished the dreams of the elves death.

All Zeke could do was watch them go. The three of them walked away, and there was nothing he could do about it. He couldn't move, couldn't use his mana, couldn't even call out to Kelly. He could only watch as they disappeared, out of sight.

Sure enough, what Caelia said was right, and a little bit after they left, he found himself able to move, though his mana was in some confusion, as he found himself unable to properly use it.

He fell to his knees, what had happened earlier replaying over and over in his mind, as tears of frustration began to fall down his cheeks. He grasped at his hair and tried his best to stop himself from doing anything stupid or foolish... but he decided he had to try and follow them.

He started to run in the direction they had gone... but it seemed like his body was just that little bit out-of-sorts, still, as he collapsed to his hands and knees, unable to really move forward.

Then it all came out.

He reared his head back, and let loose a scream. A yell. A holler. It was angry, it was frustrated, and it seemed to shake the very forest itself and almost rend the air asunder.

That scream of his got the attention of someone he wasn't super close to, but close enough that he knew who she was, and that she actually cared about him.

"Ezekiel?" Her voice rang out, all the patience in the world, along with concern, in that one vocalisation. He felt her mana as she appeared ahead of him, properly, and felt the shift around him as she got herself down to his level.

"What's going on?" She asked as she looked him over, getting a read on what had happened to him, physically. There was obviously something interfering, and she would do what she could to help with that.

Zeke looked at the woman before him, and then fell to his knees and elbows, his hands balled into fists.

"...damn it!" he cursed, pounding the ground with one of his fists.

"She's gone!" he told her.

"Kelly Fyrane! Vanessa Encrae has her now!" he said further.

"It's all my fault! I couldn't do anything!" he cried out, as tears fell to the ground below him.

"..." he was then silent, before she heard him sob silently.

"...I could only watch them take her away..."

She was silent for a moment before taking a seat on the grass and lightly cupping his chin.

"Just breathe for a moment." She said as he felt some heat coming from her hands, both the one cupping his chin lightly, and the one that she'd placed on his back.

"Let me clear... whatever inerference is in there, out." She added, and he could feel his mana and nerves reconnnecting properly again.

"Now, I'm sure that helps with your thoughts as well. That was... surprisingly potent stuff." She commented, letting him god.

"Talk to me, pleasE? What happened?"

"...." Zeke was silent again, but the sense of clarity and serenity that she brought him caused him to calm down immensely, and he no longer felt like he was going to break down.

So he sat back on his ass, and sighed.

"...I'm sure you already knew, but Excalibur was found. Kelly Fyrane was chosen to be its wielder." he told her.

"Kelly and I were training here, as she wanted to become more proficient with it, and someone approached us." he said further, before telling her everything. The woman's name, her title, the scabbard, everything. Even what she had said to him at the end, before they left.

"...Encrae has Kelly now. And thus, Excalibur." he said.

"And she has Merlin under her control."

She was silent for a moment before sighing.

"Well, I can certainly understand why you were so worked up." She commented.

"But, I'm not so certain this is reason to get completely out of sorts." She added, seeming to brush off the concerns about Excalibur and the one known as Merlin, being under that elves thumb.

"However, that will cuse some immediate problems, I think."

"...huh?" Zeke asked.

"What do you mean you're 'not so certain this is reason to get completely out of sorts'?" he asked her.

"Vanessa Encrae has Kelly now. And Excalibur. And Merlin's under her control...!" he went on, before shaking his head and calming down... though that was probably more because of HER.

"Immediate problems? To understate it." he then said.

"But why is this not such a huge deal?" he asked her.

"...as least, less of a deal than I seem to be making it."

"Well, because of something that Ana told me." She assured Zeke.

"If all goes well... things may be looking good for those on the side against her in the future. However, the power boost from the sword that Kelly would have received upon reuniting the sword and scabbard... that being in the elves grasp is very much a concern. And a big one at that." She added.

"I don't know where she is, but I might have an idea as to how to possibly find her." As she spoke, she was getting to her feet.

"Possibly." she stressed. You said Merlin showed up, right?"[/b]

Zeke blinked a couple of times, before sighing quietly.

He looked to his own sword, laying beside him, before grabbing it and standing up as well.

"Yes." he replied.

"I did." he told her.

"She seems like she's under Encrae's control, but is being allowed to retain enough of herself to know what she's doing. Even though she can't say no." he lamented.

"The dark elf's cruelty knows no limits." he sighed.

"We're near the Remmington Manor, right?" she asked. When he confirmed, she nodded.

"You, go home. Go spend some time with Angela."

He wanted to argue with her, but he knew better. If nothing else, he felt like, perhaps, spending some time with Angela might calm him down a little more.

"...sure thing." he said quietly, sheathing his sword.

"I... damn it..." he cursed in a whisper.

"I still can't believe I couldn't do anything." he said.

"I could only watch..."

"Merlin... is stupid strong." She commented.

"Seriously. She's still alive for a reason, because of her mana. She actually rivals Lady Remmington." She added with a light shake of her head.

"At any rate, you... just take care of yourself. I need to go speak with someone." She said before giving him a hug.

"Just take care, all right?"

Zeke was a little surprised by the hug, but returned it.

"That's scary to think about." he said.

"And all right. I will." he told her.

"You... you take care, as well." he then said. "I mean, that's probably a dumb thing to say, given what you are, but... I dunno, Encrae seems to have so much power under her control now, it's frightening." he went on.

"But... yeah, I'll go see Angela now." he finished.

"I know. She's terrifying, but ... well, everything happens for a reason, no?" She asked with a light chuckle.

"However, just take care of yourself." She added.

"If you need me, just hollar." With that, she stepped back and vanished, appearing int he den of another house.

"Remmington!" She called, not caring if anyone else was home, but looking for one person in specific. She kenw he and Merlin had history, and he might be the best way to find her."[/b]

A surprisingly short amount of time later... as in, literally, seconds, Vincent appeared before her using his mana. And he looked... almost scared, but more shocked and surprised than anything else.

"I'll question who you are, how you got in, and why you are here later. Or not at all." he said. "Odds are I'm about to learn." he said further.

"But I know better than to keep ANY lady waiting, let alone one with the immense power you have, given what the sensors say." he then reasoned.

With that, he cleared his throat lightly, and regained his composure, somewhat.

"What can I do for you?" he asked.

She paused a moment, her golden eyes showing her confusion for a moment.

"Ah, right. We haven't properly met." She commented.

"My name is Sariel, and I am here on behalf of a woman from your history." She added, pausing to see if he had anything to say about any of that, before she dropped the bombshell of it being Merlin on him now.
