"I..." She started, not really entirely sure what to say here for a moment.

"Mostly it's just where it's bruised and whatnot." She said. "That you're already aware of."

"Although a better question would be what doesn't hurt." She added

Rene just sighed.

"I see." he responded.

"Well, listen, I've taken care of that wound, and the computer should be ready for you to start making it up to par with what you need." he told her.

"Do you want laundry done?" he asked.

"And no, I'm not suggesting you strip down here to use the facilities I have. Although I DO have a big robe you can wear if you choose that option." he admitted.

"But I can give you fare for a good dry cleaners nearby, as well as some old clothes to wear when you go." he offered.

"well.. That shirt is trash, anyway" She commented honestly.

"Blood stains don't come out easily, and I don't really think it'd be worthwhile to save."

"You'd be surprised." Rene responded.

"Odds are I could use some pretty abrasive and harsh chemicals to at least lighten the stain, and then use some dyes to hide it." he told her.

"Granted, it'd look 70's as all hell, but... yeah." he mumbled.

"I can get you a replacement shirt, at least." he told her.

"If you want the rest of your clothes washed while you get that laptop up to par, I CAN give you a robe and get to washing them, or give you some change for a dry cleaners. Again, whatever you feel most comfortable with."

Kalin just sighed, and was about to say something... before finding she couldn't. She brought a hand up to her head as she just closed her eyes, trying to steady her breath as the world had just spun violently.

Before she could say anything, Rene was able to see what was going to happen before it did. As a result, he was able to react quickly, and catch her she fell, having lost consciousness. The question for why was unanswered for the moment, but it wasn't hard to Rene to guess that it was likely from that injury he saw, and how she'd likely been staving it off for a bit now. Now that she felt at least relatively safe, she was able to properly rest. Her body knew that, even if mentally she wanted to continue fighitng.

Rene just sighed when he looked at the unconscious young lady in his arms.

"....right then." he said.

"Welp. It's clear you need rest." he commented.

"And it would not be the best idea for you to wake up in a stranger's bed." he mumbled further.

With that, he grabbed some blankets and pillows, and set her up on his rather sizeable couch, making sure she was comfortable. Once he did that, he made his way to a chair, sat down, and took out his cell phone.

"Harvard, eh?" he mumbled.

"Good thing I still have Savannah's number." he commented, dialling the number in his contact list... and waiting for the dean of Harvard to answer.

Sure enough, he wasn't waiting for too long before the call was answered.

"Hey Rene. It's been quite a while since we last spoke." She commented.

"To what do I owe this pleasure?" She asked after another second.

Rene was silent for a moment, and then sighed quietly.

"Hey Savannah." he replied.

"Yeah, it HAS been a while." he admitted.

"And sadly, this won't be a pleasure." he then told her.

"I'm calling in regards to one of your alumni." he continued. "One Kalin Kiczys." he went on.

"While I have some things to tell you over the phone, I would like to speak with you in person as well." he told her further. "When is the soonest that can happen?" he inquired.

". . . Kalin Kiczys?" She asked.

"Ah! You're talking about the young lady who is doing absolutely beautifully in her classes, right?" She asked, her voice curious.

"One of her professors was just talking to me about her, and how he has such high hopes for her and her intellect."

Again, Rene sighed.

"Yes, I believe we are talking about the same person." he responded.

"See... there's a bit of an issue, though." he went on.

"She may be doing wonderfully in her classes, and she may be at the lead of her peers, but... well... her peers are anything but friends." he continued.

"Savannah, Kalin's at my suite, and she's resting on my couch, after having been walking around with a wound that needed stitches. She's had her laptop go missing, so I'm letting her use one of mine, but her situation is still alarming." he told her.

"Is there any way her deadlines or something can be relaxed? She was mentioning how she needs to get work done in the next few days, but... I have no idea how long she'll be out, her body forcing her to rest."

Savannah was silent for a moment before sighing.

"Trouble, huh?" She asked.

"What kind of trouble?" She then asked.

"And deadlines? I'm not sure. I can speak with her professors.... but I will need to know what is going on before I can."

"See, this is why I'd like to meet up." Rene replied.

"I've learned a lot from Kalin in a short period, and if you can meet up with me ASAP, then that would be great." he continued.

"However, the very short story is that Kalin seems to be taxing her mind and body to the absolute limits, while dealing with entitled pay-to-graduate peers that are doing all they can to prevent her success." he summarised.

"All she told me was that she had an assignment due tonight at midnight." he then said.

"However, it seems like that might be nigh-impossible right now, through no fault of her own." he went on.

"Savannah, I don't want her to fall. I want to push her on and get her across that finish line... ahead of all the others."

"Let's meet for coffee." Savannah said.

"Pick a place, I can be there quick." She then said.

"The closer to the school, the quicker I will be there, of course."

Rene thought for a moment.

"Ah, how about 'Edward's Coffee'?" he suggested.

"It's close by and I can get there quick as well." he said.

"Just tell me when you can be there." he told her.

"I'll be there shortly after, and you know it." he finished.

"That works well." Savannah said with a nod.

"I can be there in about half an hour." She told him honestly.

"If that works, I'll see you soon."

"Works for me." Rene replied.

"I'll be there, waiting for you." he told her.

With that, they ended the call, and he looked over towards Kalin.

"...I'll leave a note in case she wakes up while I'm gone..." he mumbled.

About a half-hour later, he was already at the cafe, sitting at one of the booths, waiting for what he'd ordered. He got a drink for him, one for Savannah (he still knew what she liked), and one of their larger pastry items for them to share.

"She should be here about the time it's out." he chuckled.

Sure enough, it was just after the order was brought to the table that Savannah arrived. She slid into the seat across from him as the employee left.

"Hello hello." She said with a smile.

"You didn't have to get me anything." She then said with a light laugh.

"But it wouldn't be you if you didn't." She then admitted.

"Well, I DID ask for this meeting." Rene reasoned.

"It'd be rude of me to not get you something." he went on.

"Anyway, while I would love to reminisce on the past right now, I feel we should get to the meat of this first." he then told her.

"Kalin Kiczys. Let me tell you how I came to know her." he continued.

He then told her how they had first met, all that had been said, and about the second time they met (omitting why he was in that area in the first place), what had been discussed there, and what he'd seen when they were back at his suite apartment.

"Suffice to say, things aren't going well for her." he said.

"But through it all, she's trying to focus on her schooling... no matter what."

Savannah just sighed.

"I have no idea what it is that could have happened. I've heard nothing from her, or from her professors regarding trouble." She admitted.

"It's... rather depressing. One would think that the information would be shared, but... if there's trouble, she's likely not informing anyone - security or her professors."

"From what she's told me, those that are tormenting her have money." Rene responded.

"A LOT of money." he clarified.

"And money DOES talk. Or the threat of using it to talk is very effective." he then added.

"But odds are she's being threatened quite effectively." he lamented.

"Listen, is there any way that we can find out what her assignment due tonight is, and whether or not a special extension can be granted, given the extenuating circumstances?" he asked her.
